There's an old topic by this name, and it seems like it would be of some interest in casual moments.

Howard the Duck - LOLOLOLOL Just kidding
2001
Blade Runner
Spaceballs.
Yes, it is completely different from the book but Blade Runner is one heck of a movie!! Best thing Daryl Hannah ever appeared in (with her clothes on, that is)--and the character parts were awesome, M.Emmet Walsh, Joanna Cassidy, that Chinese guy, and whoever played Sebastien were all just super.
War of the Worlds?
Paul Verhoeven is the best sci-fi director in film history.
Mystery Science Theater for the REAL science fiction goodies.
In chronological order
Metropolis
Things To Come
The Thing From Another World
The Man In the White Suit
War of the Worlds (the George Pal one)
Forbidden Planet
2001: A Space Odyssey
Colossus: The Forbin Project
The Andromeda Strain
Solaris (Tarkovsky)
Honorable mentions go to all three Quatermass films, The Monster that Challenged the World, and any film by Jack Arnold.
I think "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank" deserves a mention as does "Dark Star"--two low-budget classics worth watching.
"Deckard. B-263-54."
Blade Runner Special Edition DVD
(still no narration)

The actor you're thinking of is James Hong (I think he's actually from either St.Paul or St.Louis), and he's been great in a lot of other films. He was also in The Forbin Project, played a bad guy in one of my favorite Outer Limits episodes, "The Hundred Days of the Dragon", was Tia Carrere's dad in Wayne's World 2, and had a memorable guest role as a posh maitre'd in a Seinfeld episode.
Logan's Run
The Omega Man
Soylent Green (does it count as Science Fiction?)
2001
The Man Who Fell to Earth
