I tinker with them a bit, but I've learned to not mess around with them too much.

I think that's just good creative instinct talking. If you try to go back and tweak what you write, you can obscure the fire of inspiration that illumined your mind in the first place; you end up transforming inspiration into perspiration. I've rarely been satisfied when I've allowed my editing to go beyond the basic mechanics of English.

sion...it has been raining sicne 5:00, and the temp has yet to reach 70...wish you were here.

Wish I were there too. Clouds have rolled so it's a balmy 65, but still no rain.

Looked out the office window yesterday and saw some trees have started to turn. The spiders are getting more active; autumn is coming. Any day now the cedar fronds are going to start turning.

Your Personality Coefficient score is 18.

You are perky, chipper, and always ready to help out with advice in a crisis. You will do anything to make your friend's lives easier, but tend not to prioritise tasks well. Most people despise you, as you have absolutely no concept of when to keep your mouth shut.

Sirius Cybernetics Corporation feels that your personality would be ideally suited to being a Shipboard Computer.

Must have answered something incorrectly, 'cuz that's not me...

It sounds like you have had your fill of "summer"...you would enjoy it here, today, for sure. There is even a slight breeze, but the rain is still coming down. Softly. Good for a soaking.

I got a letter from redhead today. She says the 'net may be hooked up this week, but they have already had their first rain. She sounds happy. I'll let you know when she is back online, so she can be contacted "just in case."

Well! That can't be correct. I know exactly when to be quiet. You don't catch me running off at the mouth when there are decisions to be made. I am always the soul of contrition and decorum. It's utterly rediculous to assert that I would be overly voluble or argumentative, I object to this assessment in the strongest terms -- I demand a rematch! You can't treat me this way. Who do they think they are, anyway? Silence in the face of such arrogant effrontery is absolutely inconceivable and ... Oh ....
That's what they said, isn't it?

Yes.

The Wordwright

“A natural at rhyming,” they said with quiet awe,
As if the effort of the work was just a lucky draw.
The poet grimly sets to task and nails the fabric down.
He stretches it to smooth it; portrays a bit of frown.

The subject matter fights him. He struggles on despite,
And witnesses remark there seems no effort in this wright.
While storms torment his vision, and tempests on him pour,
He delicately sets a bit of shell upon the shore.

The setting must be balanced. He knows it must be so,
But others only notice as the vistas slowly grow.
His struggle is exhausting, and soon to bed must he,
But not before he finishes his latest travesty.

So tempted to destroy it, his stare a rueful stance,
He shrugs and turns away from it without a backward glance.
“Another masterpiece,” they cry, and celebrate each rhyme,
And tearfully, he vows that he will do it right next time.

As in ...

You forgot to add the beginning of the address tag ... http://www.bbc.co.uk

Sometimes you have to right-click the image, grab the properties address, stuff it into a word processor file, and then formulate your posting comment with the bits and pieces.

Yah. It was a very quick "view selection source" and copy operation.

I'm dumb like that a lot, though usually such over-reaches involve $$ inexpensive projects...

as in: my current project - making a japanese laminated bamboo longbow.
I'm planing and shaping the individual bamboo slats as I recover from my illness, all the time wondering "Now how the HELL am I going to lay this stuff up during lamination???"

I'm a DOOR of all things! LOL!

You'd be surprised about doors, 'Face. Data abstractions of doors can be amazingly complex. One of my committees (access control) has been debating for months about whether a door can be represented by one object (for pass-through in both directions), or two objects (each representing pass-through in one direction), how to divvy up or share elements such as access control lists (which may be different for different directions, at different times, and under different conditions such as life-safety operations including "fire"), and how to represent many other aspects of access-controlled doors such as "anti-passback," "watchman's tour", access logs, timely response, etc. etc. etc.

See? Being a DOOR is not all that simple!

I know how Norm Abram would do it. What's wrong with his technique?

Basically, cut the curve you want in a piece of plywood, place the planed strips in the kerf, and clamp. If one piece of plywood is not sufficient, duplicate the cut on additional pieces, and make an assembly.

You might want to use wax paper, aluminum foil, or plastic to keep the glue from sticking to the plywood.
