University of Oregon BANS SUPPORT OF THE TROOPS

UNIVERSITY BANS SUPPORT FOR THE TROOPS: A truly disgusting policy is being carried out at the University of Oregon.

Magnetic Yellow Ribbons that say "Support The Troops" have been surreptitiously banned by the administration at the University of Oregon.

The origin of the policy was a complaint from a fellow employee and the claim was that the sticker was in fact a "political statement".

The employee who had the magnetic ribbons had put them on his vehicle months previous - but Friday a university employee complained.

So let's review...
1. University employees at the University of Oregon are not allowed to support the troops who defend those employees' freedoms and the security they live under.
2. "Supporting the troops" is deemed a political statement...so much for the "We all support the troops" talking points.
3. Even if this WAS political expression - university employees are not allowed to express themselves politically? (Can Instapundit weigh in on the legalities of University Campus political expression?)

Since when did the Bill of Rights have to undergo perusal and permission of the Administration of the University of Oregon?

I think a blog swarm/storm on this should be formed immediately.

The very least we Americans should be allowed to do is to support those who fight and too many times die to allow the rest of us to live free...

No great loss to America if there were to be a couple of airstrikes conducted against the U of Oregon admin buildings.

Call "W" on this one.

Bottom feeding leftists. They offer nothing of value to society. Perhaps a complete cutoff of government funding would be appropriate.

Emailed the idiot.

They should at least be honest and start flying the hammer and sickle. But like all good Leninists you never let your true intentions be known until the day finally comes.

I emailed the coward. Obviously some whiny leftist employee was the one who complained. So much for free speech.

Stunning, this -
it is immaterial whether 'Support The Troops' is a political statement or not. If there's been decided on Free Speech, any non-harming and non-insulting statement must be allowed. The mere fact that 'political' is deemed in a peiorative sense is idiotic in itself. 'Support The Troops' can by its very nature never be in conflict with U.S. Constitutional Laws, or specific laws.
What bugs me most here is that the future higher classes of the U.S. cannot see these facts for themselves.
Good that there are fine watchdogs out there!

They have confused political and patriotic, oh thats right patriotic does apply to ONE party. Never thought the left would so openly admit it.
