Michael Savage Has Gone Off The Deep End
HundredPercenter Newswires ^ | December 2nd, 2004 | Malachy Joyce

Posted on 12/02/2004 9:25:32 AM PST by www.hunderdpercenter.com

Since the election of 2004, conservative radio talk show host Michael Savage has focused his energy and talent on bashing the war in Iraq, ridiculing President Bush and lashing out at Rush Limbaugh.

Savage, who draws over 10 million listeners a week to his radio talk show, "The Savage Nation", is conducting a smear campaign on Republicans and the war that Michael Moore would be damn proud of.

On Tuesday nights show, Savage alleged that troop morale was declining amongst those serving in Iraq. He charged that the war in Iraq is a "disaster" and that no one, including the troops, knows why we are in Iraq.

He has repeatedly said that the U.S. would lose the war in Iraq and that he has "visions of the last American helicopter leaving Baghdad," reminiscent of the U.S. withdrawal from Vietnam.

His armchair strategy for Iraq is to "bomb Iraq into the stone age."

In an obvious attempt to bolster his ratings, which are very weak in the Los Angeles market, Savage has made it a point to, adolescently, call Rush Limbaugh names, such as "Hush Bimbo" or "Mr. Gulfstream". Savage criticizes Rush for backing the President and towing the Republican line.

Savage, who has gained popularity for decrying liberalism as a form of mental illness, seems to have a lot in common with the lefties.

Here are some opinions that Savage and Moore share-

War in Iraq was for oil.

Believes the U.S. is losing the war in Iraq.

Criticizes Bush, Rush, Bill O'reilly and other conservative media regularly.

Claims that troop morale is low.

Called for Wolfowitz' arrest for planning the Iraqi invasion.

Has said Condi Rice is "unqualified to be secretary of state"

Besmirches Rumsfeld, Powell, and Cheney often.

Calls the U.S. presence in Iraq an "occupation" and states that the Iraqi people do not want democracy or freedom.

Rips Rudy Guiliani, Tom Ridge, Newt Gingrich and all Republican supporters.

Not a supporter of the War on Terrorism.

HundredPercenter has no problem, whatsoever, with Savage's tirades and his use of freedom of speech. However, Savage's insatiable desire for higher Arbitron ratings has resulted in recognizable jealousy of Rush Limbaugh's #1 rated show. Furthermore, his jealousy has caused him to propagate lies, with regards to the war in Iraq and troop morale, in an attempt to draw listeners.

The fact of the matter is,we are winning the war in Iraq and it is of utmost importance to drive that message home, in order to keep morale high.

Mr. Savage, I would like to pose a direct question to you.

Is your avarice for higher ratings and money so great that you must now resort to lying about U.S. troop morale being low? And if so, when did the liberals in your home city of San Francisco persuade you into believing such an outrageous lie?

In closing, I would like to share a letter that I recently received from a good friend, a Marine, stationed in Fallujah.

Hey everyone, I just want to let you all know that I am doing well here in Iraq. I am sure that you are all worried about me but I assure you that I am well and in good hands. As you know much has been occurring here in Iraq and this has been the reason for our phones and internet being cut off. I will try to reach out to all of you as soon as I can. The Marines are in good spirits and we are kicking ass. I love you all and miss each and everyone of you. Talk to you as soon as I can.

Put the Arbitron ratings report down Mr. Savage.

Savage has always whined to much to enjoy listening to.

He has an irritating voice and style. I can't stand to listen to him.

Your very first post. How very nice of you to join us, Mr. Savage. Now try to understand why so many former listeners are tuning you out these days.

As a former talk show host myself (KSCO, Santa Cruz) I know the drill: In the absence of intelligence and/or humor as a schtick, go way over the top to fish for ratings. Any reaction better than none. Right?

Wrong. That worked pre-Net, but people have way too many choices nowadays. I resent being used like that, and so do many others. It's one thing to be the TSH we love to hate. It's another to be a complete jerk.

Michael is a human being and one man. Humans are flawed. What model are you expecting him to live up to? How much are you expecting from one person? Change the station if you cannot identify with him, as it is your right to. I myself have many flaws and willingly will admit them as does Savage. Michael's ego is not as big as others are in the News, Entertainment and Talk Radio world. He is not trying to be all things to all conservatives as the Leprechaun and Hush Bimbo seem to be attempting like they are some type of Gods.

You are just another idiot who has this self defined image what a talk show host is supposed to be and talk about. You know nothing. Who cares where you have worked and what you think you know about pre-Net times. Go get a job in a factory or cleaning toilets. Do you really think that ratings matter to a person like Savage? If people don't want to take the time to think why he may be saying seemingly off the cuff remarks such as "The doctors in Holland should be hung for committing infanticide," then they are not thinking hard nor are they patient enough.

Yes indeed. And only ratings.

Just what is "a person like Savage?"

Just saw your thread today. But I heard Savage reading your article during yesterday's show where he bellowed his "demand" that you go on his show, and/or reveal your identity. It's interesting that he's become so enraged over your particular criticism, as though he hasn't been hearing similar for a few years now. If this is new to him then he's more insulated and isolated than I had guessed.

A free thinking and speaking person who believes in what they say and who values it more than their binding to the network they work for.

Sordidmesh, if that is your real name, that's a very impassioned defense of Mr. Savage. In my professional opinion, we're talking about a tortured psyche here. He abuses alcohol, and acknowledges to sometimes doing his show with a hangover. He may be bipolar, he almost certainly has hystrionic personality disorder, and he sounds to be suffering from major depressive disorder. I often wonder what, besides his agnosticism and Teddy, keep him from shuffling off this mortal coil. If ya happen to know this guy, tell him there are those who say a prayer for him now and again.

Interesting that you post exactly as you speak on air, Michael. Apparently that is not simply a radio persona.

Perhaps you might employ your vast herbal knowledge to bringing that stress level down a bit. Or is it burned into your DNA?

It must just gall your buckets knowing you'll continue to bleed listeners after your ignorant, racist attacks on Dr. Rice.

His -- Savage's -- jealousy of President Bush is his current undoing. He has to slam the President in every show now. He thinks he's being truthful and insightful, but he's taking it so personally that he is being poisoned by his own vitriol. Can't he see the fate of all the other Bush-haters? They're finished, done. Many things can be said about how Bush is doing his job, but there is a spark of positivity in the man that no one can extinguish. Savage knows that he himself has either lost the ability, or never had it, to make himself loveable.

Mikey, if you're reading this, you might consider that being loveable is not so bad after all. Somewhere in there, you have a good heart, so take care of it! Sending out verbal poison pen letters will not save the world.

Thanks for recognizing that I care about Savage. What you say may be true. And it may be true for thousands who listen to him. I find it comforting that he is out there for the lonely type.

Hannity gets the hook around my house. He is misinformed frequently and doesn't listen to his guests or callers. Maybe he has been around O'reilly too much.

I completely agree with you and with Dr Savage. He is a free-thinking person who dares to speak his mind - I never seen such a thing! That is why this hounding by the left/right nazies - they both reject him. Yesterday Michael asked to call him a Nationalist - "Borders, Language, Culture!". Strange that so many here, especially after the election that Dr Savage helped Bush to win, refuse to relax but keep their pre-election zeal. He is not a concervative, the word lost its meaning; stop saying he is a bad concervative!

He said explicitly that he is not a conservative but a nationalist. He also wonders why conservatives can't be conservationists and that he wishes to no longer cover national politics. Retirement from radio at the height of his popularity is just around the corner if this keeps up.
