I visited - here's my report. Skeptic Pie seems to have about 4 or 5 active members. Salman posts on Skeptic Pie as 'Abdul Alhazred'. He does not appear to be the board administrator, but certainly the most active member these days.

FR is mentioned in the title of one thread (started by Abdul) near the top of the list. This thread is only 2 posts long. Below is the text of the originating post.

Free Republic is a very popular website...
... populated by American right wingers, some of them scary.
Think we can get any traffic from them?
(Then, a link to THIS thread on FR)
BTW, I am 'Salman'.
Interesting note: another thread posts without comment a link to "Freethought Mecca", an "Ex-Muslim atheist website". A quick visit to 'Freethough Mecca' reveals a page header that says "Freethought Mecca: A pilgrimage beyond the humorless."

After about 30 minutes of broswing around, the key word for this board is indeed "skeptic". I found little time spent on politics. Some time spent on analyzing/debunking psychic morons one finds in the public eye on occasion.

I didn't find any hateful behavior or any anti-conservative or anti-christian ranting. Some people are noticeably unafraid to poke fun at themselves.

Summary: this poster doesn't seem to be a troll. Skeptic Pie isn't about politics per se. It's not a trap, neither is it another place with a purpose similar to FR's.

FWIW.

...and he's been here a lot longer than I .

Apologies if I stepped on any toes.

I guess it's okay, if you like ghost towns. Since the excerpting took on on FR, it's getting sparse around here, too. But I'll continue using FR and wishing skepticpie the best.

No one has said anything false here so far.

Yes it is a ghost town.

I am trying to get it fired up for my own reasons. I have nothing to do with the administration of the place.

You pretty much summed it up correctly.
