First, I never said I was always right. Second, I don't recall a 21 theorem ?

I contrasted the Van Dam's behavior with Samantha Runnion's mother, who remained in seclusion while the search was on. Did you catch the statement by Samantha's dad? Truly hearbreaking...
Another camera hog: Rusty Yates.

Oh no! Is there no honesty anywhere these days. Yes, I know the media is a hunk of crap, but this too.

CTV and LKL are the ones most used. She said to watch and see who gets the 1st exclusives. It depends on the PR firm as to who they use in the press.
To: Jrabbit
Sickening! Spin, spin, spin. Any chance they will bring up some good questions later?

I guess I can answer my own question. Those shows won't ask any tough questions, but if they get cocky and venture out on other interviews they might get some. They might start believing all the press people are with them. This new fund or foundation or whatever it is will keep them quiet I suppose. Grrr...Go Feldman....

No, I never saw Samantha's dad. But Rusty Yates as another camera-hog, absolutely. Another parent who never really seemed too bothered by what happened to his children. They "reach 'closure'," (I hate that word) and "move on" rather quickly, don't they? And after all, don't the Van Dams still have "two fine boys to raise, regardless"?
To: The Other Harry
Harry that certainly was an intresting post, thanks. I don't think I have ever known anyone who has done either of those things, nekkid beach or swing club. Not that I know of anyway. Thanks for letting it all hang out, so to speak.

If you had a thread going about what kind of punishment DW deserved, I sure wouldn't post there. I have to be honest, I don't know if I could resist posting on a thread like that. But I would try not to let a flame or two escalate into a flame war :-)
Even though I know I have crossed the line -- like that time I posted a symptom-by-symptom diagnostic guide from one of your posts and noted how ~kim~ displays 8 out of 8 symptoms of Histrionic Personality Disorder(a long-standing favorite of mine) as listed in the DSM4. You only need 5 out of 8 to get a positive diagnosis.
And my point is that I would try not to do things like that.
I would try to be ~nice~ ... like Kim.
Incidentally, DSM4 is shorthand for the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Fourth Edition of the American Psychiatric Association. I think 4 is the most recent, maybe second-to-most. It is THE medical reference for psychiatry. Psychiatry is a medical science, you have to go to medical school to be a psychiatrist. They are not psychologists. Psychologists are liberal arts professors. But you probably already know all of that, owl.
Just thought I'd point out that the DSM is not a joke, it is really how doctors decide what mentall illness ~someone~ has.
Which is all the more reason not to frivolously point out facts taken from it. It's too serious. Histrionic Personality Disorder is some serious, troubling stuff.
You know... I seem to recall a really interesting book(for a pop-psych book) by the same guy who wrote The Road Less Travelled. Forget the guys name, but he wrote another book about 9 or 10 years back called People of the Lie. It is a pretty interesting book for ideas, sort of 'toward a study of human evil' if it were a scholarly work. It talks about Histrionic Personality Disorder, I think that is the first place I ever heard of it. I recommend the book, for real.
But my point is I know we have all crossed the line, and Kim, I know it was mean for me to ~diagnose~ you in the forum like that, and you were such a good sport.
Please forgive me.

I hate the word closure too. Psychobabble. Makes it sound like you can just close the door on your dead child & forget about them. You can't tho', they are never very far away from your thoughts.
I think what it must mean is to get to a point where you can get on with your life. If your child is missing like Elizabeth Smart, the normal grieving you would go thru if she was dead, is replace with a limbo state where you just hang. Scared that the phone will ring with bad news, but hoping it will ring with good news. Nightmare!

I know it doesn't mean that everyone who goes to the nekkid beach is a perv, but look at it the other way around. If you're a perv, where do you go to see naked kids? I know, boy scouts, church etc... but the nekkid beach is an attractive nuisance for that kind of predator.
When you are a predator, you look for the prey. Not just nude beaches. Families that "swing" are demonstrating different sexual morals than most. If you are looking for a family that is "open about sex" the swingers club might be a place to strike up some friendships.
I went to MacKenzie beach in Hawaii years ago, and there WAS an old man in the back by the cliffs, videotaping the naked kids from a distance.

I have read "People of the Lie", years ago. A great book, I'm going to try to find it again. I found some people I know in it. Scary people.
To: Hildy
There has never been any evidence that the VanDams have been anything but good parents or that they subjected their children to their private acts. I'm not condoning it, but I don't think it had anything to do with the disappearance of Danielle. "Huh ? What'd she say ?
--Well I heard it, but I didn't understand it."
To: ~Kim4VRWC's~
especially the testimony on the bugs and anthropologist. You might be suprised. The anthropologist ???
The guy who had her dead 16 days before she went missing ?
This witness's testimony has a zombie Brownie corpse out selling Thin-mint and Somores.
Any juror that gave credence to this witness (and is not escorted by a nurse & orderlies) would suprise the piss out of me !

Uhhhh, how big was that water hose?

What is it going to be, a scholarship fund for children of perverts? Advertisement copy for their book. Amazon don't like all that white space.
To: The Other Harry
Just fwiw -- which is nothing -- I really don't know that I agree with this purported connection between nudism, swinging, and pedophilia. TOH -- I'll validate your experience as to the "nude" beach.
I've been to Blacks Beach in La Jolla CA, Canova in FL, and Hippy Hollow here outside of Austin TX.
It's not a sex thing, gawkers are not welcome. The code is always "clothing optional". The sex obsessed will see more on HBO or their computer than at a "nudie" beach.
You're on your own as to "swinging" clubs ...

Samantha's dad looked like he was shipwecked. It was painful to watch. Imo, Rusty Yates is the real nut in that family....Andrea cracked up under his and their preacher's influence. I'm fair, I chocked up Rusty's first camera appearance to shock. The next one I saw, maybe when Andrea was going to be sentenced, and he was just hamming it up? That's when I got mad. I read excerpts from various interviews afterwards, and this guy is a creep! Wants to get married and have more kids my a$$....
Those fine Van Dam boys need to be given to relatives to raise....that way Brenda and Damon won't have any distractions.

My husband used to drag me to the nude beach at San Onofre. I always hated the place because it was usually filled with gay men. I used go (in my bathing suit) and lie on the blanket with a towel over my head in case any one might recognize me. The last time that we went my husband saw a man stop and bother a nude little girl whose parents were in the water. The Dad came up and almost got into a fight with the man, but he didn't leave the beach.
