I despise those dread false desires of you who have so allowed yourselves to be part of this travesty, who celebrate it! You who call this justice -- you are fools and fooled. What a post! And so, so true. Stupid, wicked people celebrating the sacrifice of another to atone for what? To appease what? TO SERVE WHAT GODS?
To what green-eyed monster of a god are we sacrificing David Allen Westerfield?
I realize now that the trial was a mere formality, a perfunctory ritual prior to the sacrifice. The evidence was irrelevant. "The sweater was red!" OVERRULED. Not relevant.
Had Mudd's gavel been a silver athame it might have put his black robes in a more appropriate context.
THEY BEAMED LARGER-THAN-LIFE IMAGES OF DANIELLE'S ROTTED, MAGGOT-INFESTED CORPSE ONTO A SCREEN ABOVE HIM DURING HIS TRIAL.

I'm almost inclined to agree with you on this, except for one thing. It was interesting hearing the other side's viewpoints and the "reasonable" debates. Cyncooper made some good points. I have tried to look at this thing from both sides, because there was a possibility I could have been wrong in some of my thinking. I gave serious consideration to the good points that were made. It would be a loss not to hear from people who have another viewpoint. I have not changed my mind about Westerfield's innocence, however. And in spite of how many times the verdict, or links to the verdict, are posted, it means nothing except that was how the jury chose to go. We all know what the verdict was. If anyone has any real points to make, I'm willing to read and consider them. But this childish crap from the "winning" side is ridiculous, and I don't think it's making any converts.

Rest assured I do not go around the forum mentioning, much less mocking, another member of Free Republic. I have to agree that you are the most restrained member of the VDA group. Wish they could learn from you. BTW, I thought the Smokey Backroom was here to let us vent, otherwise there's General Interest. From what I've seen there's no DW threads there lately.

It is very hard to try to be nice to people who don't deserve it because they deny their own participation in the ugly. Kim, read your own post. Look in the mirror.
To: ~Kim4VRWC's~
Sorry, with me this Jury gets no credit. Why? Because they discounted the expert bug testimony and overcredited the dna spots -- my assumptions, based only on the verdicts. That means, to me, they acted in a presumption of guilt. As did you and many others. But you and the other posters where not -- I would hope -- jurors. In the and actual trial I hope you would take things more seriously.
As I said earlier, the prosecutor poisoned the definition of "beyond a reasonable doubt" in his closing and the Judge let it go by.

Magnolia, I see no reason why there can't be a third thread in General Interest where all of us debate with no mud-slinging. That's why G.I. was set up.
To: VRWC_minion
To date, my comprehension accurately predicted how the bug testimony would play out, how the jury didn't believe the bug guys, that the CPA was likely to vote guilty and that Westerfield was guilty based on the evidence. I understand I do make mistakes and will correct them as soon as I become aware of them ...
I thought you refuted yourself on this matter some time back. By your own estimation, your frequent correctness proves you are a liar.
Either your 21 theorem was WRONG, or you are wrong about always being right. Either way, you are wrong about being right about everything.
I, however, do know everything, as partly evidenced by the fact that I correctly point out the paradox, and I have to say it: stupidity of the 21 theorem, especially as you espouse it.

What about giving the jury credit for doing it's job IMO the jury did not do their job. I heard/read the same evidence they did. They ignored the bug evidence (what's that going to do to previous convictions?), ignored the dogs, even ignored the common sense stuff, like why would a man drive all over creation with a kidnapped girl in his motor home, taking the chance he could be discovered at any time?
Why did LE just patiently set and wait for DW to come home from his camping trip when they considered him a suspect? They weren't too interested in a possible rescue.
No, no credit due to the jury. Especially not the ones that were crying when it was over.

Hi Magnolia,
I too want everyone to stay on the same threads for the very reason you describe...and the mirror was held up and looked at closely while I was suspended along with MizS because of our flames towards each other. I've done my best to not let the posts decline to that level since. It is frustrating to many of us (and this is mostly from freepmails) for certain folks to not tell EVERYONE to quit, instead of just the other side. That is fueling the fire if anyone hasn't noticed. If we see someone tht needs to be told to quit, it should be done regardless of which side they're on. Now we got people agreeing to leave the threads..that's awful IMHO

**While the backroom was created for people who want to argue "heatedly"..whatever that means---We have recently found out that there are even lines that can't be crossed here.**
From what I understand, this forum was so people could vent to their hearts content, leaving out "personal attacks", racist comments, etc. You know, adults using adult language.
I've been on boards where the worst flaming done here would be considered chickens*t, Kim. I sit here and watch FresnoDa get banned for humor. For anyone who is offended by Fresno's benign posts, or other people calling them on what they post, go back to your Good Housekeeping Knitting Circle BBS.
Kim, this is a thread mainly populated by folks who think David Westerfield is not guilty. Why are you here?? See I don't understand. If you had a thread going about what kind of punishment DW deserved, I sure wouldn't post there. Everyone has a right to their opinion, good taste suggests that one go elsewhere rather than stay and cause yet another manufactured flame war.....

That might work..Maybe the extra threads could be linked to on the GI thread for people to have the options of lurking or participating? and the extra threads could offer some "relief"...

Ah, no wonder you thought that! When there are flame wars, the mod sends people over here and that's what happened. SHe told us to take it to the backroom.
This forum is setup for those who want a little more heated debate. I'm recommending that we allow a little more rule bending here. We don't want the racist stuff or the propaganda, but we can allow the people to let their hair down a bit. Spitting, biting, hair pulling and cursing allowed as long as they don't go to extremes.
I'm thinking we can also move out of control flamewar threads to this forum rather than deleting them.
Forum internal name: backroom

BTW, I thought the Smokey Backroom was here to let us vent, otherwise there's General Interest. From what I've seen there's no DW threads there lately.I think some of us that have been following the trial are hoping to discuss the penalty phase proceedings once it begins Wednesday, on the General Interest forum.

One more..
The Smokey Backroom is an enter at your own risk forum. We're going to relax the rules a bit here, as far as heated debate is concerned. This is where you can roll around in the mud and the blood and the beer, so to speak. And if someone gets a piece of his ear bitten off and lets out a curse word or two, he probably won't get banned (as long as he doesn't make a habit of going overboard).
In other words, some of the rules may be loosened up a bit in this forum. But not the rules against racism, or leftist propaganda, etc. That kind of stuff is still not welcome on FR. If a flamewar breaks out on FR, we may ask the flamers to take it to the backroom.
Or, in some instances, we may move entire threads here. This is an alternative to deleting them. We'll be playing it by ear for awhile and see how it is received.
This is not to say that we're going to welcome vicious or nasty attacks, libel or slander, but if some of you wish to get a bit heated and all of the participants involved have thick skins and are not going to cry about it, here's the place.

Wouldn't work. Certain people can't resist combative behavior :(

I would think that the reason they did not have an APB against DW because they hadn't had the interview with him yet, plus they hadn't searched the house yet with the dog. Remember about 200 neighbors voluntarily gave LE permission to search their houses. That's why they were waiting...
If anyone disagrees, feel free to add/edit
