Far-left Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) likened Jesus, Mary, and Joseph to illegal migrants in a Christmas Day post depicting a nativity scene being raided by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“May this be the last Christmas we live this nightmare,” the California congressman wrote on X, along with a photo of spray-painted ICE agents breaking into the Bethlehem stable where Jesus was born. […]
The prevalent left-wing claim that Jesus was a refugee is considered by many Christians to be historically inaccurate. As Breitbart News’s Thomas D. Williams, Ph.D., described, Jesus was born in Joseph’s ancestral hometown of Bethlehem, after which his parents fled with him to Judea when King Herod set out to kill all baby boys. The family temporarily settled in Egypt, which was part of the Roman empire at the time. They returned to their home in Galilee when Herod died, and Jesus spent most of his growing up years there. …

Not an immigrant, not a foreigner. Joseph went to his home. For an audit by the Imperial Revenue Service.

Pelosi tried this same scenario several years ago and she was ridiculed.

Sure he does.
You think the 25% Mexican population gonna vote for him if he doesn’t kowtow to them?
That’s his base.

I have heard that same line from all of those who are in favor of illegal aliens.

Illegal votes are illegal votes. They don’t need the illegal Mexicans to “vote” since they have their magic fake vote machines in place; they just need them to bleed the system dry.

Are you talking about Swalwell? Nope; he’s Protestant, actually.
Looks like you are opusing, comparing Judaism to al-Islam. The Bible of the Jews happens to be three quarters of the full Bible; the Koran refers to exactly one Bible verse, and misquotes it to boot. One cannot reject who they did really not know in the first place, unless you are claiming that all you refer to were baptized into belief in the first place.

Can’t these people even crack open a history book? The whole area was part of the Roman empire.
They were refugees like Chicagoans infesting northern Indiana. We wish they would go away but they are still US citizen.

illegal immigrants are immigrants.
To: Sacajaweau
No they are not, because “illegal ‘immigrant’” is a misnomer concocted by the left; the term before that was illegal aliens.

All illegal immigrants are immigrants.
All immigrants are not illegal immigrants.

To: Sacajaweau
Not if you insist on using a misnomer. Illegal “immigrant” is said misnomer.

They BOTH, reject the son.

Immigrant is a synonym for alien.
To: Olog-hai
Of course his claim is false. The Holy Family had a divine visa. They were legal visitors. They did not remain indefinitely nor have children there and claim birthright citizenship in Egypt.
Matthew 2:
13] And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
[14] When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
[15] And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.

You cannot reject someone you did not know in the first place. That is a Biblical principle. The only way to begin to know Jesus is to be baptized into the faith; also Biblical. To use your abused idiom, chew on that, but carefully.

I guess Eric has now joined World Wrestling Entertainment. Many of my Republican colleagues also don’t see the people they represent as constituents to serve; they see fans to entertain, thinking this will help them win re-election. But Congress shouldn’t be like WWE wrestling. You can’t smash a chair over someone’s head in the ring, then hang out backstage like it was all an act, and still expect to make any real progress on behalf of the people who elected us. The preoccupation with putting on a show often devastates the relationships required for bipartisan cooperation. Our legislative branch seems to have devolved into a never-ending argument — but not an argument of principles and policy. Rather, it’s an argument staged as a modern-day version of the ancient Roman “bread and circuses,” to entertain and distract voters from real issues…
