The fastest way to get back to a safe, mask-free life is for everyone to get a Covid-19 vaccine.
But just because you've gotten a shot of protection doesn't mean you should rip off your mask immediately. That could actually set you back and put your friends and family at risk. Here's why you should keep masking up in many cases -- and when it's safe to go mask-free:
You're not fully vaccinated until two weeks after your last dose of vaccine, according the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That means at least two weeks have passed since your second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, or at least two weeks have passed since your single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
So ditching your mask too soon could leave you with little or no protection against getting infected or infecting others. Your friends and family might not be vaccinated yet
Vaccines are great at helping protect you from getting sick with Covid-19. While there's growing evidence suggesting vaccines can also help prevent transmission, the CDC says there's not enough data yet to prove whether vaccinated people could still carry the virus and infect others. So unless your friends and family are also fully vaccinated or at low risk of severe Covid-19, you might put them at risk if you see them without wearing a mask.
What can I do without wearing a mask?
The CDC says fully vaccinated people can:
• Visit other vaccinated people indoors without masks or physical distancing
• Visit indoors with unvaccinated people from a single household without masks or physical distancing, if the unvaccinated people are at low risk for severe disease

It's as if they all want to be unmasked. Perhaps if more of us were, others would take courage. fh
It is because this vaccine does not keep a person from getting and passing covid to others. It never will.

As someone has pointed out, the vaccine is like Birth Control which comes with a warning that it doesn’t protect against pregnancy, and the admonishment that the man should still wear a condom, and even then you could get pregnant. And by the way the Birth Control is experimental, and long-term effects are unknown.

Smile and say cheerfully that you do not need to wear a mask if anyone asks. Mostly they will not.
99% of the time they will say or do nothing. If they do you can either comply or leave as you choose. In the one instance in the past year I chose to shop elsewhere.
Be normal.

I live in Pima County, and haven’t worn a mask at all for at least two months now, and very seldom since last summer. Most places aren’t enforcing the county mask mandate, at least in Marana and NW Tucson (except Costco, so I don’t go there now). Last week I was at Walmart and saw 6 or 8 other maskless shoppers, but at least 98% of the sheep were still wearing their muzzles.
Elderly ladies such as myself, usually don’t hesitate to converse in grocery stores.
It’s much fun. I went into Target and the one time I forgot the mask, I got a ‘what are you doing’ look and I wondered what she mean’t. I suddenly knew I didn’t have it on, just as the Target greeter/ cart washer girl said she would give me one. I’m usually the one telling my husband to wear his. He forgets some times and sometimes he sets there until I tell him to take the damn thing off now, we’re in the car.... We will continue to wear where it is required and any other place we feel the need.
I think that if anyone says anything to me, I’ll just tell them that I’ve been vaccinated. It’s true, since I was vaccinated for smallpox as an infant and for polio and TB in grade school, and also got a few tetanus shots over the years. Not my fault if they assume I mean the coronavirus vaccine.

Entering a Cell
After the vaccine is injected into a person’s arm, the adenoviruses bump into cells and latch onto proteins on their surface. The cell engulfs the virus in a bubble and pulls it inside. Once inside, the adenovirus escapes from the bubble and travels to the nucleus, the chamber where the cell’s DNA is stored.
The adenovirus pushes its DNA into the nucleus. The adenovirus is engineered so it can’t make copies of itself, but the gene for the coronavirus spike protein can be read by the cell and copied into a molecule called messenger RNA, or mRNA.

My notes re that:
The adenovirus contains a DNA double-strand. That DNA double-strand is a memory medium, in effect. The Johnson & Johnson programmed mRNA is recorded on that memory medium.
The cell finds that mRNA recording on that DNA double-strand.
The cell copies the Spike Protein info of that mRNA recording, into an actual messenger RNA.
And, that actual mRNA is then used by the cell, to present the SARS-2-CoV Spike Proteins on the cell surface.
Thus, the Johnson & Johnson approach, is to deliver a recording of the Johnson & Johnson programmed mRNA, while on the other hand, the Pfizer and Moderna approach, is to deliver their (Pfizer’s and Moderna’s respective) programmed, actual mRNA.
There’s no good reason to give Democrats the satisfaction of riling you up about it and using useful idiots among conservatives to cause division and waste our time.

The article you reference goes into a semantic diatribe that mRNA vaccines do not fit the definition of a vaccine. This is incorrect. If you look at the CDC definition of a vaccine here is what it says:
"Vaccine: A product that stimulates a person’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, protecting the person from that disease. Vaccines are usually administered through needle injections, but can also be administered by mouth or sprayed into the nose."

Clearly the mRNA vaccines for COVID-19 produce an immune response and are designed to be specifically for the SARS-COV-2 virus.
Sanofi's Flublok vaccine uses only surface proteins influenza virus. It does not use any modified or killed virus. They manufacture it with gene technology by genetically engineering bacteria to produce the protein they put into the product. This is my personal choice of influenza vaccine and have taken it for the past 3 years.
The DTaP vaccine is a vaccine against bacteria. There are no bacteria in the product.
So you may like or not like the mRNA vaccines and I support your right to take or not take them. I don't believe that vaccines should be government mandated. But they are not "gene therapy" as no DNA is modified and the process by which it makes protein occurs outside the nucleus of the cell.
Now there are vaccines that are Gene Therapy. But guess what? Gene Therapy would still fit the definition of a vaccine if it caused an immune response to a specific pathogen. Gene Therapy vaccines are not my preferred choice for a variety of reasons. But semantics would not be one of the reasons.

Well done! I will add my information that I know about the process.
The RNA of the Spike Protein is passed into the ribosomes which translate them into new Spike Proteins. A part of the translation quality control process is where segments of the Spike Protein are presented on the surface of the host cell’s membrane where they bind to the MHC-1 molecule. These proteins attract T helper cells which determine if they are true protein or false protein. Because they are false proteins, the process of creating antibodies against them begins. These proteins are destroyed, including the cell that produced them.
Anytime any C-virus enters the cell, the antibodies will attack its Spikes which are the key part the virus uses to slip its RNA code into the cell for replication. This process also destroys the C-virus.

All it means is they are reclassifying “asymptomatic” Covid “cases” as “people without Covid”. VOILA! Then they falsely claim the reduction is because the vaccine works!
Note both your links talk about symptom free “cases”?
The inventor of the PCR test objected to it being used for public health because it would yield many false positives - ranging from 60 to 90% false positives So the CDC decided to use it - boost those numbers!
The test actually can detect fragments of dead viruses similar to Covid (Corona family) up to 60 days after the person was exposed. Now, ‘exposed’ doesn’t mean the person ever became ill. It just means there’s fragments left over of things the body may have fought off. This would include having a cold or flu or other virus - you’d test ‘postive’ for covid because those fragments would be detected by the PCR test. The PCR test was a research tool that renders useless information for the Covid-19 pandemic.
So fragments are more readily detected the more ‘cycles’ the test is run. At the height of ‘asymptomatic’ Covid ‘cases’, they were running those tests at 40 to 45 cycles. OOOOOOOppppssss! Now that the vaccines are available, they suddenly realize that’s too sensitive - picks up too much - more false positives. After the vaccine has been released, the tests are now backing down cycles to 25 or even the recommended 17 cycles. So - fewer “cases” And they shriek “IT WORKS! THE VACCINE PRETENDS TO WORK!!! WOOO HOOO!”
