The fastest way to get back to a safe, mask-free life is for everyone to get a Covid-19 vaccine.
But just because you've gotten a shot of protection doesn't mean you should rip off your mask immediately. That could actually set you back and put your friends and family at risk. Here's why you should keep masking up in many cases -- and when it's safe to go mask-free:
You're not fully vaccinated until two weeks after your last dose of vaccine, according the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That means at least two weeks have passed since your second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, or at least two weeks have passed since your single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
So ditching your mask too soon could leave you with little or no protection against getting infected or infecting others. Your friends and family might not be vaccinated yet
Vaccines are great at helping protect you from getting sick with Covid-19. While there's growing evidence suggesting vaccines can also help prevent transmission, the CDC says there's not enough data yet to prove whether vaccinated people could still carry the virus and infect others. So unless your friends and family are also fully vaccinated or at low risk of severe Covid-19, you might put them at risk if you see them without wearing a mask.
What can I do without wearing a mask?
The CDC says fully vaccinated people can:
• Visit other vaccinated people indoors without masks or physical distancing
• Visit indoors with unvaccinated people from a single household without masks or physical distancing, if the unvaccinated people are at low risk for severe disease

Which should prove "they" will never lift the mask mandate.
They'll patiently wait until all of us naysayers die off and then it becomes law.
Remember, the anti-smoking campaign started in the 1960'and 70's through the public school system.
They got through to the kids, the kids came home and lambasted us parents and here we are now, a society very much against smoking cigarettes ....... about 45 plus years.
Ask those you know that really obey the mask mandate ... Will you ever take the mask off?
IMO, my impromptu survey reveals about 20% will still wear a mask because they have been successfully terrorized.

When most of the vax stop in two months they will tell us that not enough got vaxed and so we’re gonna have to all wear masks through 2021.

Spoiler alert: vaccinated people not only don’t get COVID-19 (symptomatic or asymptomatic), they also don’t transmit it to others. The vaccine stops the spread cold.

My recently deceased neighbor worked in the steel mills as a union boilermaker. He worked every day for decades with asbestos. It was safe; until it wasn’t. Every day he came home and was happy after a hard days work. There were no side effects; until there were. He got mesothelioma and died. What is the analogy?; while these genetic treatments may “stop the spread cold” we have no idea what the long term effects and implications may be. Like my deceased neighbor who was fine until he wasn’t, we don’t know what the effects of this experimental treatment may be. It may “ stop the spread cold” but lead to serious side effects later.
Masks don’t work to start with. They are even more useless (if that’s possible) after vaccination

1) None of the vaccines are “genetic treatments”. None of them interact with your DNA. None of them change your DNA. None of them do anything at all to your DNA or even enter the cell nucleus.
2) If we avoided anything and everything that might one day have long term effects, we would never have anything new ever again. Cell phones? Might have long term effects! New cancer treatment? Might have long term effects! Can’t use anything without 50+ years of testing with 5+ million people!
I’m not ready to halt all human progress for the next half century. We weigh the risks and benefits of everything we do knowing that our knowledge is imperfect, but doing the appropriate amount of due diligence to reduce our risk. The first recipients of the new vaccines got their shots a year ago today (March 16, 2020). They’re doing fine. Critically, they don’t have COVID-19 and they aren’t spreading it to others. The two mRNA vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) use mRNA components with a 10-hour half-life. So if they put 100 million mRNA strands into each dose, they’re all gone in a week.
Life is not a zero-risk game. The risk of death from COVID-19 is 0.65%. The risk of death from a COVID-19 vaccine is - as of now - zero. There’s probably some level of risk beyond that, but the data we have today says zero deaths from that. Further, there’s a risk of long term health effects from the COVID-19 disease. We can witness that already (COVID “long haulers”). I actually know some of these people. One has been in horrible lower back pain (for the first time in her life) since she got COVID-19 in January. Otherwise healthy, fit, active woman before then. In her case, it appears she’s suffering significant kidney damage.
You think she wouldn’t - in a heartbeat - trade what she’s dealing with now for some unknown but tiny risk of issues down the road from a vaccine?
You could just do it now.
A friend of mine owns a UPS store in Tucson. His sign says “please wear a mask so we can stay open”. He’s one of us, just trying to keep the Mask Nazi’s in Pima County from shutting his store down.
