Michelle Obama delivered her final remarks as first lady of the United States on Friday, telling a room of educators that the role has been the greatest honor of her life. It was an emotional end to a White House event honoring the 2017 School Counselor of the Year, where she also urged young people to embrace diversity and empower themselves through the education.
As I end my time in the White House, I can think of no better message to send to our young people, Obama said. For all the young people in this room and that are watching, that this country belongs to you. If you or your parents are immigrants, know that you are a part of proud American tradition.
I want our young people to know that they matter, that they belong. So dont be afraid. Be focused, be determined, be hopeful, be empowered.
Obama will leave the White House as one of the most popular first ladies.
Gee, just like Washington’s farewell to his troops in NYC.
“I want our young people to know that they matter, that they belong. So dont be afraid. “
(sniff) the author is right. I’m emotional right now because this sasquatch yeti hybrid is STILL here...
I’m emotional
Alright .
Tears of happiness at this Marxist leaving the WH
The Kenyanesian Usurpation has left the country a wreck.
All of those illegal aliens he let in are not part of America and will soon be deported.
Where’s the ‘technicolor yawn alert’?
Are reporters bribed by Obama backers to write this hagiographic nonsense?
Please God Melania doesn’t spew such pap.
It would be refreshing to have a First Lady call for the complete overhaul of our disaster of a govt school system. I can dream.
I’d only be an emotional wreck if the Obamas were staying.
Just looking at her makes me an emotional wreck.
Obama will leave the White House as one of the most popular first ladies... Good one!!!
I watched part of it and a few times I became very emotional... thank God I couldn’t find my shoes or I’d have thrown one right through my screen. I noticed my emotional state was 10x better immediately upon channel change :)
Obama will leave the White House as one of the most popular first ladies.
Actually, no. Michelle Obama's approval ratings are about the same as Laura Bush's, though their husbands' ratings diverged wildly over the years. Both were more popular than Hillary Clinton.
Before that, the question wasn't asked much, but it looks like Pat Nixon, Rosalyn Carter, and Nancy Reagan weren't as popular as more recent First Ladies.
Bess and Mamie and the others didn't need popularity polls or agendas or platforms or designer dresses or farewell addresses.
I'm as proud of her as she is of our country.
From 2008.... For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country....
ROFL!!!!
rofl!! I know you’re all choked up by it :)
