And I also think it makes me look cool and “progressive” and makes a statement...

I can’t get past the title. It is such a sad statement on people and society today....a watch/phone/tech gadget “transformed their life?”

I’m looking forward to getting mine!

I say that with some fear, because there are a lot of crabby old geezers on this forum who will immediately surge forth to tell you they have the same watch they bought for $3.00 in 1952 - but who cares about their $3.00 watch?

I don’t know why they are so obsessed with posting insults if they’re theoretically not even interested in the product. Anyway, they should remember that once upon a time, the $3.00 watch was new technology and many people probably thought it was pretentious and above your station to have a watch anyway. Silly Luddites!

To do a selfie, all you do its put your iPhone where you want it...Using the photo app on the Watch I can see in realtime what the iPhone's camera is seeing, and after getting (everything framed) properly I snap the shutter directly from the watch.

Now that's a cool feature I didn't think of!

Here in NYC, all the tourists are using those selfie-sticks that they sell at the newstands and nothing looks dorkier than a selfie-stick. Except maybe riding a Segway with a bicycle helmet.

I like the iPhone 6, the iPad and the Macs....

That being said the iWatch..... is a 100% complete turnoff.

The #1 issue with the iWatch..... is the screen size.

It’s simply TOO DAM SMALL.

Even though I like Apple Products I will not purchase the iWatch.

Another BIG MISTAKE Apple has recently made is with the music.

1) I like the way the new music works, but APPLE IS NUTS TO THINK I WILL PAY $10 A MONTH FOR IT after 3 months. I’m dropping it.

Why pay for music when I can a Sirius (stream only) satellite commercial free music, TV channels and NFL for the same price?

What about Amazon’s Prime where you get free music, free e-books, free movies and 2 day delivery for free at LESS THAN what Apple is charging?

What about all the free music online via web sites like Youtube, Pandora, Sound Cloud,Vimeo, etc...?

Finally Spoofy which is similar Apple is doing only has 6 million payers World Wide. What out of 7.3 Billion people. It’s a joke!

Sorry I just do not see Apple iWatch and the streaming music for $10 as popular as their iPhones ever.

I discovered years ago that I don't really have to answer the phone if I don't want to do so. They have no Constitutional rights. All of this electronic junk serves me, not the other way around.

Long live three ring binders!

I didn't want to write this blog about the Apple Watch, because I didn't want to seem like an Apple geek

sounds a bit like those "Why I switched from being a Republican to a Democrat" articles life-long liberals love to write.

I guess Apple is having a hard time convincing their loyal iPhone users that they absolutely must double down on their investment with Apple or risk being technologically obsolete.

It looks like this gentleman is very happy with his Apple Watch (and more power to him), but was this really necessary?

If a piece of technology can “transform” somebody they were a puss to begin with...which makes them a perfect Apple customer.

I have been involved with technology for many decades and one thing I have learned over and over is that buying version 1 (v.1) is fun but frustrating. Waiting for the second or third generation is frequently a better use of your money unless your priority, a valid choice, is to be visibly on the cutting edge of technology. If I were going for a tech job in mobile technology, I’d be sure to have this on my wrist - good bona fides!

This watch-type mobile tech is, indisputably, a new vector in personal technology. I remember Arthur Clarke’s 1979 novel “The Fountains of Paradise” where the protagonist has a Cardiac Monitor (CORA) that is implanted in the chest and capable of audio messages like an ear-splitting alert about someone having a heart attack. I can see this as being tech that will be built into a this kind of wrist device based on biometric changes.

However for now, I will look seriously into the next generations of this ‘watch’ as the abilities grow to meet ever new requirements. Technology that enables the individual to be ever more knowlegable and in control of the environment is an ideal for our individual conservative view.

But after reading the misleading reviews by other editors that shall remained unnamed, I just felt like I had to set the story straight. For one thing, all the features that one reviewer panned (he had put his Apple Watch on Craigslist because of them)...

So the guy who wrote this article is responding to multiple editors who wrote critical articles about the Apple Watch?

Why not put those articles up on FR too? I mean, if you are interested in discussing Apple products (and not simply shilling for Apple), wouldn't you want all of the opinions to be considered? Or are you only interested in the articles that praise Apple? Why is that?

I see these things as workflow tools. I can definitely see how it would impact someone who was fully invested in the Apple infrastructure.

Doesn't fit me or what I do, but it's cool for those it works for.

I do have to make one snarky comment though... he's never spent more than $350 on a watch? He's definitely not a watch guy. LOL. I'm not gonna say how much the watch I'm looking at right now costs, though several I've really drooled over were almost $20k. There's no way I could talk the wife into letting me drop the hammer on that though.

FWIW, I am Apple through and through — on my 4th iPhone, Mac laptops and desktops — but I can’t justify the watch.

Reading down through these Apple threads reminds me of something I experienced recently on a totally different topic.

Last year I was remodeling my kitchen. I found a Maytag Dishwasher I was considering buying, the price was good, and it had the features I wanted, steam cycle, food chopper, low noise, etc. But i wanted to find out more about it. So I decided to read a few reviews first.

I visited a few websitesl, and found a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews, overall most were very positive. But their are always a few of those only give 1 star, and a few nasty comments, so I decided I wanted to read a few of these.

There was one that was partiality negative, it was a 1 star, and when asked if the reviewer would recommend this product to their friends, the answer was a very resounding NO!!

As I began to read, (the reviewer was obviously a women), It was clear she was almost in tears as she was writing this. I was looking for the reason for such a low rating. Did it leave the dishes dirty, did it leak water al over the floor, was it hard to figure out, or did it break down a lot? None of these questions were answered. Instead her entire negative review was based on the fact she had bought the model with the Stainless Steal front, all of her kitchen appliances had the Stainless Steal fronts. But her single complaint for this unit, was that the Stainless finish didn’t match the Stainless finish of her other appliances. It appears the front of the dishwasher had a brushed finished and her other appliances had the polished finished. She was so distraught over this “imperfection” she couldn’t even invite her friends over to show off her new kitchen. It was just horrible to her that she spent all that money for such an ugly dishwasher!!

Well needless to say I tagged this “review” as ‘Not Helpful’.

I see the exact same thing on FR in the Apple topics. A few Freepers that absolutely hate Apple, Tim Cook, Steve Jobs, iPhone, etc and so on, people who have never owned a single Apple product join in on the conversation, just to sow hatred and discontent, they have NOTHING positive to say about a product they have NEVER owned. Just like this lady writing a very negative review about a product that wasn’t pretty enough for her kitchen.

Personally I could care less who Tim Cook is sleeping with, just like I could care less who these Apple Haters are sleeping with. If you don’t like Apple Products, DON”T BUY ANY, but don’t come into Apple thread to spew hatred, and lies.

I already don't miss appointments, I don't need a watch to tell me I haven't exercised today, I don't need to check the weather every hour, I don't need to listen to music every waking moment of the day, I can walk a few steps to answer the phone (that burns calories too), I don't take "selfies", my life doesn't revolve around "social media", emails will still be in my inbox even if I don't see them the second they arrive and I have voice-mail so I don't need to answer the phone the second telemarketers call.

Checking my messages (passively or actively) during dinner is rude and only something ill-behaved pre-teens do, and if my immediate response to every late-breaking news event (like Justin Bieber getting arrested) was so vital then I would have assistants fielding my messages for me. I don't need to prove to anyone that I'm "hip" and I really don't need another gadget that needs to be charged daily and upgraded every year or two. Last but not least, I'm not gay.
