Yesterday, thousands of bikers descended upon Washington, D.C., for the annual Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally. The rally is an annual demonstration that was started in 1987 to bring attention to the plight of prisoners of war and to those service people missing in action. Among the riders? Sarah Palin. Decked out in a black jacket, big shades, and a Harley-Davidson helmet the Mama Grizzly transformed herself into a Motorcyle Mama for the day to join them in the cause.
Palin was joined at the rally by her husband Todd (forever riding the metaphorical sidecar) and her two daughters, Bristol and Piper. She rode on the back of one motorcyle, Bristol rode on the back of another, and Todd drove his own bike with Piper on the back.
That's right. Sarah Palin let her 10-year-old daughter Piper Palin on a motorcycle.
Are you kidding me?
Motorcycles can be fun and exhilarating to ride -- I've done it. But they can also be dangerous and are known for their ability to kill and maim, even the most skilled riders. A motorcycle is no place for a 10-year-old. It makes no difference that Piper was wearing a helmet, that the bike may have been "going slow," and that she wasn't the one driving it. She's way too young to be introduced to such a dangerous activity.
Once again Sarah Palin put her own PR in front of her her children's needs and safety. But that's not so surprising. After all, don't mama grizzlies eat their young?
Do you think kids should go on motorcyles?

In a former life, Suzanne Murray was a lawyer, a journalist, and a green lifestyle guru. She's launched several web sites, and has worked at the Washington Post Company, the New York Observer, and myriad women's magazines. In her current life, she's raising 8 chickens and one adventurous three-year-old.
Let’s see, is this Murray married with kids? Someone need to find out what sort of mother (besides a MFer) she is.
Wow. Meow. Jealousy’s such an ugly thang, Suze babe.
What an idiot! Where in the depths of whimpdom did they find this POS? Around here ten year olds are riding dirt bikes, 4 wheelers and plowing the fields, cutting/bailing hay and even riding horses! In short, learning how to be a productive member of society instead of some helpless whimp!
WOW! The responses on the site are incredible even the Palin haters are enraged. These type of articles are a blessing in disguise. If enough of them appear the haters who know nothing about Palin will start to research deeper knowing the vile that is being spewed is false.
Heck, where Im from you start carrying a gun deer hunting at that age. No wonder the younger generations are turning into liberal pansies.
I usually kept a rifle in my trunk for protection, back then the school didn’t have any input on such things.
THUMBS-UP COMMENT COUNT:
Sarah Palin - 43
(and most of the writers are actually anti-Palin)
Suzanne Murray - 0
Kids just don't like that kind of stuff!
Especially little girls. they want to play with dolls and stuff!
Look at the expression on her face!! She wants to RIDE!!
Girls are in far more danger when single moms allow their boyfriends to live with them. But don’t count on Ms Murray noting that.
Exactly! They start at the Pentagon Parking Lot on a closed GW Pky accesses road and they never go over that much. Kiddie rides at the amusement park go faster.
PS: My 4 year old granddaughter rides with me on my dirt bike when we go for a ride. Her favorite words? Faster Grandpa faster!
I grew up on the back of my dad's Triumph 650 back when that was a big fast bike, before the Japanese invasion of cheap bikes. There were no helmets in those days, and I was the luckiest kid in mid school because I got picked up every afternoon on a big bike.
My dad rode from the mid 20's till about 1970. I have some old pictures of him on his bikes before WW2. Before he passed away a few years ago, my best friend took his very nice HD by for him to see, and I also showed him a modern Jap rice rocket. He marveled at the changes that time had brought.
I have many fond memories of riding on the back of my dad’s motorcycle as a little kid. That was FUN. I didn’t like wearing the helmet, but the rides were well worth that inconvenience.
This “issue” will only resonate with the liberals who encase their kids in bubble wrap for “play dates” that involve indoor activities only. Those who actually let their kids LIVE a little will smile in appreciation.
Plenty of people put a toddler on the back of a bike and go all over the place.
If Piper shouldn’t take a completely legal ride on a cycle, then she shouldn’t be in a “dangerous” car or bus, either.
Will bet you my house the author supports moms aborting babies.
Is this Murray related to the Idiot from Washington who “lies along the same fault line”.
Are there risks? Absolutely. But it’s a personal choice.
GET A LIFE!!!
