I have many fond memories of riding on the back of my dad’s motorcycle as a little kid. That was FUN. I didn’t like wearing the helmet, but the rides were well worth that inconvenience.
This “issue” will only resonate with the liberals who encase their kids in bubble wrap for “play dates” that involve indoor activities only. Those who actually let their kids LIVE a little will smile in appreciation.
A little city vignette, that really happened: A middle-class private school in Southern California, population about ten zillion in 1,000 square miles of city, where the "rivers" are freeways and the hardscape is asphalt. It was raining, one of those neat So Cal rains where the drops are big, generous, and continuous, and the temps are in the 60s.
Some wonderful teacher or principal had let a bunch of kids take their shoes off in the middle of the day and go romp and run and stomp and cavort to their hearts' content in the rain. A bunch of, I'd say about 9-year-old boys and girls in their blue-white uniforms, no shoes, having a blast.
It was pretty neat to see.
