Fox News alert a few minutes ago says the Dover School Board lost their bid to have Intelligent Design introduced into high school biology classes. The federal judge ruled that their case was based on the premise that Darwin's Theory of Evolution was incompatible with religion, and that this premise is false.
Taking away the Biblical foundation from public education opened the door to the secular humanism so rampant in our society today. Dismissing the truth of our God created origins by accepting the theory of evolution has corrupted our cultural and moral conscience.
The mere fact that there is so much discussion on the topic of evolution in this venue is proof that much more is to be learned and our school children should have the benefit of a discussion of the origins of life not have to swallow hook line and sinker the theory of evolution.
Take it up with Pope John Paul II - he begged to differ.
In any case, that's a fallacy called "Appeal to Consequences". Just because you don't like some extrapolation of what X might mean does not in any way mean that X isn't true.
What you're essentially saying is that science shouldn't look for any answers that don't satisfy your own personal beliefs. That's anathema to science.
Asking science to serve your personal PC is a terrible idea.
If nothing had been mandated, there would have been no trial. The science teachers weren't voluntarily going to list Pandas as an acceptable scientific resource, or list ID as a scientific theory.
Information on the effectiveness of drugs is readily available. I have yet to have a doctor lie to me when I asked about the pros and cons of a treatment.
Your observation is a variation on the Ralph Nader claim that consumers aren't smart enough to make their own decisions.
If you go to a doctor and don't ask questions, you will be given a treatment that has a statistical chance of being better than alternatives (or nothing). If you fail to ask questions or do research, you get what you get.
So you would advocate that our schools become a sort of "Christian Madras"?
I maintain that accepting the theory of women's equality is what corrupted our culture and morals! Start wearing a burka, and we won't have this problem! (that was sarcasm, in case anyone wants to flame me...)
You know what? You're actually right on something, although I'm sure it was accidental. There IS much more to be learned on this subject. That's exactly why it is so dangerous to fall back to the position of "Goddidit", every time some unknown is identified. It takes away the drive to make process, and to figure out the universe we live in. Why should you investigate, and try to figure things out, if you already have the answer?
And by the way - Once again, with feeling, even though it has been said on this thread MANY, MANY TIMES:
EVOLUTION HAS NO POSITION ON THE ORIGINS OF LIFE! PERIOD!
Don't trouble yourself to "link" me to any list. I don't need any anati-God indoctrination thank you. You need to wise up regarding the spiritual reality encircling the evolution debate. ID simply argues that design can be detected in the natural world. THere is a difference between ID and Creationism. Creationism says God created this world and everything in it according to HIS purpose not scientists, not ours but HIS. And that's what I say too.
Did you go first-class?
"For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities, all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." Colossians 1:16-17
You forgot to credit this post to Mary E. Traeger:

Maybe as an evolutionist you have revised history but originally Darwin had a position on origins. His book was named "Origins of the Species." You want to revise that too?
There is no better authority than the Word of God, the Bible because it is TRUTH.
"Origin of Species" not "Origin of Life".
Have you read it? No, of course not, silly of me. That might have polluted your pure thoughts....
There is no better authority than the Word of Brahma, the Vedas because it is TRUTH.
There is no better authority than the Word of Allah, the Koran because it is TRUTH.
There is no better authority than the Word of Ahura Mazda, the Avesta because it is TRUTH.
Gee, can you see how silly that sounds now?
I wouldn't take any truth from someone who signs balrog666
You don't even want to bother with these bozos...the real God is nowhere on their horizon. Their god is the god of evo - darwin the lord and master of lies and deception.
IC may not work for you but I think Behe knows what he is talking about. I never indicated he didn't accept your 1 -5 items. So what does that prove? I suggested reading Behe to another person to give her a different view. I personally am not restricted with the precepts of ID. I am a Creationist. My whole premise is that since there is this much discussion about origins it simply shows there is lack of agreement and our public school children should be allowed to hear these different competing ideas as to origins. It is not right nor honest to tell them evolution is fact and there is no argument about it.
