Actually, I'm rather skeptical of this, as Jug talked one night about a man accosting a woman, actually hitting her, on the street in Aruba right in front of a policeman. Jug asked why nothing was done and was told it was a personal, family matter.

I don't think so. I'm sure Aruba Girl knows exactly who CC is.

Yes, I remember Jug talking about the treatment of women. My guess is this is just one more example of how Aruban justice is applied. No telling who his wife is related to, or perhaps CC will now find because of his interview on Fox and closeness to the H/T family, he will need to abide by every law on the books, whereas others may be cut a lot of slack. It could also be propaganda being used to smear him and he was arrested for something else (or for nothing.)

If that is really the case, then that would seriously damage the comparison, that I was making in my mind while watching "Across the Pacific" (1943), that CC resembles (in character) the banker, (Mr. Smith), who Rick (Bogie-the discredited Army officer) meets as his undercover contact when Rick arrives by ship in Panama to look for spies and espionage.

I know.

I've been fascinated with ArubaGirl, as she is fount of information, in a certain manner. This whole question about the police chief's son is a very hot topic over there, and she is very certain about who is not his son, but never explains why the person that is not his son happens to have the same last name.

On that small island, it may well be that the person in question is not his son, it might be a relation of another sort, but one way or another, I feel certain he is related given the close relationship of PVDS and the chief.

This seems to be very important to AG, but it is not important enough to clarify the situation, she just backs away.

The same with this Lorenzo person, with AG and NL, it's like a game they are playing.

Everyone has an agenda of some sort, it's just that I think there might be more than island pride at work with these two. The whole thing about the van, supposedly Lorenzo's, was a hoot last week.

One ugly, skeleton painted multicolored van that was supposedly this Lorenzo person was posted. The driver was partially visible and there great debate as to whether it might be PVDS.

AG said she had never seen such a van on the island, which seemed a little unusual. Others asked about ferrys, did they run so such a van could be brought on the island, she said she wasn't aware of any. Another pointed out one that did run. Once someone else verified the landmarks in the picture were Aruba, a day or two later, suddenly, it's right behind her. lol.

Scared Monkeys is hearing from sources that Joran Van Der Sloot was sent back to the KIA prison after his hearing for another 30 days. (Confirmed on Canal 90)
The Kalpoe Brothers are still in a hearing, and there is a rumor that Joran may be brought back for more testimony.
There is also word that “Jaime”, a close friend of Joran Van Der Sloot, is being questioned in the case.

I would still vote for the one hour solution.

OFF TOPIC:

Hey, everybody! Cable is down still so I'm at Mama'a doing a little Internet banking.

I sat in a line, hey I was one of the ones next to a pump, for 4(four) hours today on the assumption and rumor that a gas station was getting a tanker in this afternoon! It didn't show.

Could ya'll send me some gas in the mail? On the way up here I heard on the scanner that a gentleman broke line at a gas station and pulled a gun on the people that challenged him. Then I passed the station and yes, there were about six police cruisers there.

It's bad here as far as gasoline is concerned. Right now there are two gas stations in the Jackson, MS greater metropolitan area that have fuel for sale. People are actually following fuel tankers to their destinations where fights usually break out.

I know that we're no way near as bad off as the people in the southern part of the state or New Orleans, but if we are to provide the rebuilding support for those people down there something has got to be done.

Gotta go left Mrs. Malichi and the kids at the house. She's a decent shot so she'll be ok. I'll be at work tomorrow so I'll check in.

So if CC's conversation with Joran was before tempers flared and Beth's confrontation with Joran was during tempers flaring, that could explain the differing descriptions of Joran that night.

I think that's a likely scenario. Joran is no model citizen but there are many, many teenagers who would react as Beth described if accused or addressed in a heated manner. Of course I just read that CC may have been earlier arrested for hitting his wife...which, if true, would be a bit of a chink in the image of him as the cool, calm diplomat. In honor of cajungirl I will continue to believe he can leap tall buildings. :)

It could be some kind of language/cultural barrier. That's why I'm not sure how telling Joran's reaction to Beth really is.
