Scott Peterson took a body out into San Francisco Bay, which has far more traffic than one would expect in Aruba. Additionally, PvdS might have disposed of Natalee's body in the ocean on the North side of the island where less people are present.

"Do you think the brothers are dunces? They heard PvdS say if there is no body, then there is no crime."

I don't think the brothers are very bright.

The "no body, no crime" has been the mantra of every single Aruban we have heard, not to mention our own people.

AND you refuse to consider in what context that statement was given. I guess I have to spell it out for you.

The boys met with PVDS. They were concerned that Natalee hadn't shown up and that they would be blamed for killing her...duhhh. And Paulus wants them to think she may be alive says "don't worry, no body, no crime". Context of the statement means everything.

Now, what I just said is a possibility that exonerates the brothers who lied for their friend.

Joran text messaged them to say he had made it home. WHY? Because they were on standby to pick him and Natalee up at the beach. But Joran didn't want them to pick him up. Can you guess WHY?

Why in the world would they even possibly think she had been killed at the time of the meeting? Natalee had not been reported missing yet.

There seems to be an unseemly haughtiness in these dutch folks we have been listening to and watching on TV.

Reminds me of Kerry's logic during the campaign: If I say it, it is true. Thus began the flipflop syndrome.

Lying for a friend does cut it when dealing with folks like these. They know they are a protected species.

The Dutch do have a very elitist attitude. I say that as someone with some Dutch blood.

This was a very good letter by Paul Reynolds, Natalee's uncle. I was also very pleased with Senator Shelby's remarks this morning on Fox & Friends. He is seriously persuing the Arubans about involving the FBI and is in contact with Condi Rice! I really like and respect Sen. Shelby.

I got worried when Beth talked about her journal. Wouldn't that be a very valuable piece of writing that the other side would like to see disappear? I hope she is making copies of it and doesn't leave it in her hotel room.

Weird. I was thinking the same thing a couple of days ago! I hope she is keeping it in the HI vault when it isn't in her hands.

kcvl: Please pass on our concerns about this....

Ala. Mother's Comments Anger Some Arubans

Jul 6, 8:08 AM (ET)

By JOSEPH B. FRAZIER

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) - A latent but growing resentment here became evident for the first time when more than 200 people, some wrapped in Aruban flags, said they were incensed by statements made by the mother of a missing American teen.

Those assembled outside the colonial courthouse in this Caribbean capital Tuesday night said they fear their tiny island nation is falsely being portrayed as not doing enough to find Natalee Holloway, the Alabama girl who vanished May 30 on a graduation trip with her high school class.

Two brothers, Deepak Kalpoe, 21, and Satish Kalpoe, 18, who had been held as suspects were released Monday for lack of evidence.

In a brief and tearful statement Tuesday, Beth Holloway Twitty, Natalee's mother, accused Aruba of letting guilty people free.

"Two suspects were released yesterday who were involved in a violent crime against my daughter," she said.

"These criminals are not only being allowed to walk around among the tourists and citizens of Aruba," she said, but there were no limits on where they could go.

The protesters took umbrage with those statements.

"Respect our Dutch laws or go home," read one sign. "Innocent until proven guilty," read another. One suggested the missing girl might not be dead but partying in Brazil or nearby Venezuela.

There were complaints that some American television coverage unfairly depicted the island, which depends overwhelmingly on tourism, and as being crime- and drug-ridden.

Though poverty is widespread in the Caribbean, Aruba has an unemployment rate of less than 1 percent and one of the higher standards of living. And it has few worries. Tourism and a major refinery bring in the money. Diplomatic and defense needs, such as they are, are provided by the Netherlands.

"Have you been treated badly in Aruba?" asked Ramon Garcia, a burly tourist guide. "We are together with the family of Natalee, but we love Aruba too, man. We don't need these pressures. We are a friendly island."

Orlando Flanigan said his country had given "all out hearts, all out cooperation, everything," to help find Natalee. "It's time we got some respect back," he said.

"They are making us look like a banana republic, he said. "We are an educated and cultured people, many of us speak four or five languages."

John Maywether told a growing crowd that Aruba is not an island of criminals. "We have 96 (prison) cells and 53 percent of them are occupied by non-Arubans," he said.

"We are here to ask that you trust our legal system," he said, recalling that Arubans turned out in large numbers for Natalee after she vanished and that prayers were offered for her safe return in local churches.

Arubans note that local banks raised $20,000 and provided other help to a group of volunteers from Texas, who are still here, could continue their search for the girl.

But there has been no sign of her. Three F-16 jets sent by the Dutch government were to start flying grid patterns on Wednesday, taking offshore photographs hoping for clues.

On Monday the courts extended for 60 days the detention of Joran van der Sloot, 17, the son of a judge-in-training, the only person still in detention and possibly the last person to see Natalee Holloway alive.

After that time he can be released, ordered to trial or detained further.

Lincoln Gomez, an Oranjestad defense lawyer not connected to the case, said the Kalpoe brothers still could face indictment until they are formally notified that charges won't be brought.

I remember something on Fox about Sen. Shelby sending a letter to someone...the Dutch ambassador, maybe.

This morning on Fox & Friends Sen. Shelby said that he has sent a letter to the Aruban Prime Minister.

The fact that he stated, "no body, no case," leaves no doubt in my mind Natalee is dead.

GarySpFc, do you put much credence in the human trafficking theory? I was telling Mr. h last night (as his eyes rolled upward for the thousandth time!), that "Natalee just...vanished."

There may be forensics they just haven't released, but I don't think I've heard about any traces of her or her clothing, etc. If PvdS knew Natalee was alive, but off of the island, spirited off to who knows where, then "no body, no case" still works.

Beth & Jug referring to information they have that would be shocking (I can't remember the two words they used and I just read them upthread!) also makes me want to reexamine the tracking theory.

Natalee's case has gotten me to researching slave trade and human trafficking....I had no idea. ?:^(

What is important to note is that they had an alibi ready prior to Natalee being reported missing.

"Perzactly..."

Greta's sharp legal skills must have been in overdrive when she realized this!

This was a very good letter by Paul Reynolds, Natalee's uncle.

I thought so. too.

Also, someone on the thread yesterday wondered if stuff would start to leak out...since Beth and Jug had not released the 'devastating' news they had that would shock people (perhaps their Aruban and US lawyers had advised them not to do so).

Mr. Reynolds' letter could be to counter the so-called mob at the courthouse yesterday (wonder how much they and the bus that brought them in cost...just like the Michael Jackson 'fans' who were bussed in) and to counter the negative radio station comments about the Holloway-Twitty family...but it could also be the beginning of the "drip, drip, drip."

Just throwing that out there....public relations or leaking...or both. The average Aruban citizen is not the problem to them and perhaps they are just wanting to let them know that...a southern thing, and the Holloway-Twitty families seem to be the essence of southern grace & charm. It shows even in this most horrible of circumstances.
