This is breaking. A high speed chase around Sierra Vista and on to Ft. Huachuca has resulted in 7 deaths and 14 injuries.
A stolen car with 5 people inside led police on a high speed chase along the Highway 90 bypass and on to Ft. Huachuca at speeds in excess of 100MPH.
The stolen vehicle hit new barricades at the East Gate Checkpoint and crossed over the median, striking an outbound vehicle.
4 people in the stolen car have died, and 3 other people are also dead. 14 people are injured.
There are no further details regarding the 3 dead or the injured. As the story develops, I will try to post more.
What is the matter.. can't you just say"person""? Why do you have to note how much pigment a person has in their skin to make a point?
A person is a person- no matter how much pigment they have or don't have. Stop acting like such a racist.
You're absolutely correct. The police can't win.
It sure is. It answers most of the questions so many of us have had with this whole mystery immigration issue. So, where is everybody?
I know, that bothers me, too.
The ER Doc who talked with my son was very shaken up. This was a bad one, and it looks like not enough thought went into the stop.
I'd bet they were illegals from Mexico --- not illegals from Iraq which would be just as easy to have coming over. It just makes more sense that those running from the law in this area are criminals coming over from Mexico -- and not to work cleaning someone's house or yard. You can pretty much figure they are involved in drug smuggling or have some very good reason to run from the law once they are over on this side. It's like the Mexican government is provoking more acts against Americans along the border recently --- one reason seems to be the increased drug seizures --- the drug lords are determined they won't lose their hold.
90 North from the East Gate to Whetstone is closed for the investigation. All traffic being routed through Tombstone.
7 dead, 14 people injured.

Car wreck live on TV.
Intentional grounding
You know why that collision happened, right?
Highway 90 is still closed. I tried to hike in overland to get pictures, but they have the place sealed tight. The mood among the law enforcement personnel out there and at the roadblocks is grim.
Did you see this?

driver watching reporter instead of truck. hope everyone was not hurt badly...
Please, for your own sake, STOP POSTING to this thread. Every time you post something more, you look more like an idiot.
Can you explain to me the difference between an out of control person at the wheel of a vehicle, willing to run at all costs, thus turning said vehicle into a deadly weapon; and someone out of control waving a loaded gun around on the sidewalk?
Some amy argue, After all, if the police back off, and cordon the area, the guy with the gun doesn't have any targets, and has to get tired sometime. That will result in his safe capture sooner or later.
Should we accept that strategy, especially if he insisted on continuing to walk, thus making it a moving cordon; or should we demand the cops put an end to the threat and disrution?
That is the Euro, especially Brit, approach, and it works horribly for them; want to go the same way here?
I don't care what the deadly weapon being brandished is; the quicker the wielder is stopped, peacefully IF POSSIBLE, the better; but if he refuses as reasonable order to cease, desist & submit, he should also be smoked ASAP.
The bottom line is, it is ALWAYS the perpetrator's choice to stop or escalate.
That's what happened. It was probably a fatality, bumper to driver door.

Here's there story.
A stolen pickup truck transporting suspected illegal immigrants was being pursued by Sheriff's near State Route 80 and Buffalo Soldier Trail around 11:45AM.
The stolen pickup truck was occupied by the suspected smuggler and several illegal immigrants.
Cochise County Sheriffs were pursuing the vehicle and deployed spikes prior to the intersection in an attempt to stop the vehicle.
The stolen vehicle proceeded toward the intersection where 9 vehicles were stopped as they were waiting to make a left hand turn.
The stolen vehicle lost control after hitting the spikes and crashed into the vehicles waiting to turn, killing six people and seriously injuring sixteen other people.
Eleven helicopters were launched to transport the injured to hospitals all over the state.
The fatalities are believed to be illegal immigrants that were in the suspected stolen vehicle.
Several other people inside the stolen vehicle, including the driver of the stolen vehicle, fled the scene on foot into the surrounding desert area.
The roadway was closed for several hours, and at this time one lane is open. However motorists should expect delays while investigators process the scene.
At this time this is all the information available as it will take at least until tomorrow to identify patients and contact family members. The Mexican Consulate has been contacted.
Please see previous post...can you add the link to the original now that a news organization has posted the story?
