The ER Doc who talked with my son was very shaken up. This was a bad one, and it looks like not enough thought went into the stop.

I guess so, it sounds like an aircraft accident.

Some years ago, there was an accident similar to this in Temecula, California, where the Border Patrol was chasing an SUV full of illegals which diverted into a residential area and struck several cars and pedestrians, all of which were high-schoolers on their way to school. One woman lost a son and daughter, another family lost a husband and son; there were at least seven deaths including one of the illegals in the SUV.

It devastated that small town, and pitted the families of Border Patrol Agents against other townspeople, as the BP was blamed for continuing the chase into the town. Subsequent to this, the BP had revised guidelines for continuing pursuits.

It appears that these small-town police did not follow reasonable pursuit policies.

Some days, I think we should just bomb the elite PRI enclaves in Mexico, which are the real source of this mess on our southwest border, and increasingly, elsewhere in our country.
