ELIZABETH EDWARDS ON ABC RADIO: "She's overreacted to this and treated it as if it's shameful to have this discussion. I think that's a very sad state of affairs… I think that it indicates a certain degree of shame with respect to her daughter's sexual preferences… It makes me really sad that that's Lynne's response."
LYNNE CHENEY AT POST-DEBATE RALLY: "The only thing I could conclude is that this is not a good man. This is not a good man. And, of course, I'm speaking as a mom. And a pretty indignant one. This is not a good man. What a cheap and tawdry political trick."
DICK CHENEY TO NBC AFFILIATE WHO: "I would have said Sen. Kerry was out of line to bring my daughter into it. I thought it was totally inappropriate."

The biggest fattest part of Mrs Edwards is apparently her mouth.
I would hope that the President will put this all to rest by asking Mrs Edwards, for the sake of her husband and children, to serve as his advisor in a national initiative to treat victims of obesity.

Although I must admit that a few of the comments make me smile or chuckle.....I agree with you. I have also wondered if sometimes it isn't just FR senses of humor gone awry. After all, no one on FR has said these things directly to the opposition.

For what it's worth, I agree with you wholeheartedly. All the nasty comments about Elizabeth Edwards' weight do nothing but show us as mean-spirited and frankly, it cheapens the argument against what she said.
We're all up in arms about the TN Dem who put out the flyer insulting the mentally handicapped and Bush at the same time (which is APPALLING to say the least), but really, fat jokes vs idiot jokes, is there much difference?
There's plenty of ammo against the whole bunch of them without resorting to blasting someone's personal appearance. And chances are there are FReepers gleefully posting these jokes from the anonymity of their own homes and offices who would make Liz Edwards look like Twiggy.
Flame me if you will, but we can be pretty nasty, and it's not at all necessary.

Same here. She is fat. No getting around that. And her comments are ugly. I don't think liz is ashamed of either, though perhaps her husband is.

You are deliberatly making fun of john kerry's horse-like features, which no amount of botox or chemical peels seem to affect. kerry cannot help it if he resembles an aged French Saddlebred.
