ELIZABETH EDWARDS ACCUSES LYNNE CHENEY OF "SHAME" OF HER DAUGHTER, QUESTIONS HER CRITICISM OF KERRY'S MARY CHENEY REFERENCE
ELIZABETH EDWARDS ON ABC RADIO: "She's overreacted to this and treated it as if it's shameful to have this discussion. I think that's a very sad state of affairs I think that it indicates a certain degree of shame with respect to her daughter's sexual preferences It makes me really sad that that's Lynne's response."
LYNNE CHENEY AT POST-DEBATE RALLY: "The only thing I could conclude is that this is not a good man. This is not a good man. And, of course, I'm speaking as a mom. And a pretty indignant one. This is not a good man. What a cheap and tawdry political trick."
DICK CHENEY TO NBC AFFILIATE WHO: "I would have said Sen. Kerry was out of line to bring my daughter into it. I thought it was totally inappropriate."
WHAT KERRY SAID: "And I think if you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a lesbian, she would tell you that she's being who she was, she's being who she was born as."
KERRY CAMPAIGN: Senior Kerry aide acknowledges "it was not his best moment," but calls charges that it was inappropriate "ridiculous
The woman is in her thirties. She's public about her sexuality. It was brought up in the last debate. So, what the hell?" ABC News' Marc Ambinder reports
You guys are pathetic. How about dealing with the issue, with the statement. What she said was bad enough. No need insulting somebody's weight.
Jeez. In a race to the bottom, you geniuses win again.
I said gluttony is also a sin.
You are so correct, thanks for being the Moral authority police here at Free Republic, I am sorry I thought it was funny, the term "weigh in" in relationship to Ms. Edwards. (snickers)(oops sorry)(giggles)
Jeez indeed.
Thanks for the .........ah........ping.
Very interesting.
Jeez. In a race to the bottom, you geniuses win again.
I don't know about the others, but your tag line seems to put you in the same race.
Understood. I know there's a lot of different opinions on the whole issue. (I have posted a fair amount here on "gay marriage," for what it's worth - just some thoughts). I guess I was reacting to Ms. Edwards sticking the knife in a little further - getting into the Cheneys' private family matters. Very hypocritical, considering we haven't even seen Theresa's tax returns yet.
Ask Elizabeth Edwards if obesity is a life choice that emanates from childhood habits? The left is making obesity an issue and trying to make it another government responsibility, so it's fair game. Afterall Elizabeth Edwards has made herself part of the campaign.
We are just having a little fun, because turn about is fair play. I was one of the ones who defended Elizabeth Edwards before she lowered the bar with her offensive remarks.
I was stating a fact...if she went to a fat farm, she should get her money back...
Why did the VP thank Edwards for his "kind words"?
I disagree. Fat and stupid is no way to go through life.
This IS dealing with the statement--by putting it into the appropriate context.
If fat jokes are "out of impact," so's Mary Cheney's personal life.
Same here. She is fat. No getting around that. And her comments are ugly. I don't think liz is ashamed of either, though perhaps her husband is.
Proverbs 23:21
By the way, I find you tagline offensive to horses.
Because it's so much nicer-sounding than what he should've said: Yob' tvoyu mat;, pizhda!
And I understand your point too. This is most tacky of Ms. Edwards, even more so than her husband's boss.
Humor and levity are not an option here! The making of insulting remarks is not jusitification to respond in kind. Let us all not laugh at ourselves or others! Is not, taking oneself too seriously a sin?
The phase, "if you can not stand the heat of the fire, don't turn on the gas" DOES NOT APPLY TO Democrats!
Thanks.
Not related to this thread, but wanted to post it somewhere....so here it is.
