ELIZABETH EDWARDS ON ABC RADIO: "She's overreacted to this and treated it as if it's shameful to have this discussion. I think that's a very sad state of affairs… I think that it indicates a certain degree of shame with respect to her daughter's sexual preferences… It makes me really sad that that's Lynne's response."
LYNNE CHENEY AT POST-DEBATE RALLY: "The only thing I could conclude is that this is not a good man. This is not a good man. And, of course, I'm speaking as a mom. And a pretty indignant one. This is not a good man. What a cheap and tawdry political trick."
DICK CHENEY TO NBC AFFILIATE WHO: "I would have said Sen. Kerry was out of line to bring my daughter into it. I thought it was totally inappropriate."
WHAT KERRY SAID: "And I think if you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a lesbian, she would tell you that she's being who she was, she's being who she was born as."

Bringing Cheney's daughter into the debate was NOT Kerry's decision to make.

Maybe Elizabeth Edwards would have no trouble bringing her own Children into the public debate forum, as political tools. Say maybe we could talk about the circumstances of her Son's death, not that we would, but Mrs. Edwards is trying to excuse , inexcusable behavior.

You know, I don't go around all day screaming out my "sexual preference" to everyone. I remember when no one else did either.
Lynne Cheney's criticism of Kerry for bringing up her daughter is not the result of "shame" - it's just saying that there is still a part of the country that doesn't think someone should be defined solely, and loudly, by their sex life.
Edwards brought it up as well. So we have Kerry and Edwards dragging the VP's daughter's personal life into the campaign. Her personal life and sexual orientation is none of their damn business.
Well, this is getting lamestream media coverage....it will be interesting to see what the response will be.
I have to think that most Americans will recognize that family trumps politics, especially this low-ball scuzzy flavor the two Johns and their piggish spouses are playing out.
I accuse John Edwards of being ashamed of his wife for being FAT. Afterall, why else would he have sent her to a fat farm before announcing his candidacy?
I am surprised that Ms. Edwards took her head out of the Krispy Kreem Box long enough to make a statement.
