While employees may get the brunt of the blame for security breaches, company leaders are doing their fair share of damage as well, a new study finds. Research from ThreatTrack Security revealed that 40 percent of security professionals found that a device used by a member of their company's senior leadership team had been infected by malware because of a visit to a pornographic website, and nearly 60 percent of the security professionals surveyed have cleaned malware from a device after an executive clicked on a malicious link or was duped by a phishing email. In addition, 45 percent of...

The Crypto Locker virus is a new piece of “ransomware” that is said to be one of the worst viruses to ever infect Windows PCs. The virus takes over a computers files, encrypts them, and then holds the files ransom until a user pays to have them freed by clearing out the virus. The Crypto Locker virus is sent to users through emails that have innocent enough looking senders, such as UPS or FedEx. Once the file is installed a display pops up demanding upwards of $100 to restore a users important files. In same cases users have stated that...

Obamacare is imploding. But thanks to the government shutdown, everyone is talking about the implosion of the GOP instead. The shutdown drama has distracted from the fact that Obamacare’s debut is worse than many realize — and it threatens the fundamental viability of the law itself. The administration claims the Obamacare online exchanges crashed because the Web site got more than 8 million hits in the first week. Please. You know how many people visit Amazon.com every week? More than 70 million. The difference is: 1.) Amazon seldom crashes, and 2.) on Amazon, people actually buy something.

A new coronavirus that emerged in the Middle East last fall could be deadlier than the SARS virus (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), which killed 774 people between 2002 and 2003, researchers from the University of Hong Kong said. Patients with the new virus experience multiple organ failure, which could explain its 65 percent mortality rate so far, the South China Morning Post reported. In contrast, 11 percent of the people who got SARS died. The first victims to die from the new virus were a Qatari man in a British hospital and a woman in Saudi Arabia, ABC News reported....

Oklahoma Republican Senator Tom Coburn's suggestion that President Obama may be “perilously close to impeachment” elicited a harsh rebuke from Obama adviser David Axelrod. “Senator Coburn calls himself a friend of the President, but then stabs him in the back like some sort of latter day Brutus,” Axelrod complained. “His remarks are way out of bounds. They are dangerous and disloyal.” Axelrod mocked Coburn's credentials for criticizing the President. “What does an obstetrician know about the law?” he sarcastically wondered. “Every move the President has made has the full support of the nation's top lawyer, Attorney General Eric Holder. A 21-year-old man turned himself in to Virginia police after receiving a pop-up message that led him to believe authorities had warrants on file for his child pornography use. Jay Matthew Riley, 21, of Woodbridge, Va., was charged, per Prince William County Police Department, with three counts of possession of child pornography, one count of using a communication device to solicit certain offenses involving children and one count of indecent liberties with a minor. The message Riley received claimed to be an "FBI warning," which informed him that child pornography had been identified on his computer, and instructed him to...

The World Health Organization is forming an emergency committee of international experts to prepare for a possible worsening of the Middle East coronavirus (MERS), which has killed 40 people, WHO flu expert Keiji Fukuda said on Friday. Most of the cases of MERS so far have been in Saudi Arabia, which hosts millions of Muslim visitors every year for the annual haj pilgrimage. "We want to make sure we can move as quickly as possible if we need to," Fukuda told a news conference.
