  • The Best Way to Find Aliens: Look for Their Solar Power Plants

A team of astronomers is now looking for Dyson Spheres, massive star-scale solar power plants that extraterrestrial hunters hope alien civilizations employIn 1960, mathematician, physicist, and all-around genius Freeman Dyson predicted that every civilization in the Universe eventually runs out of energy on its home planet, provided it survives long enough to do so. Dyson argued that this event constitutes a major hurdle in a civilization's evolution, and that all those who leap over it do so in precisely the same way: they build a massive collector of starlight, a shell of solar panels to surround their home star. Astronomers...

The U.S. government has been accused of a long-running, massive cover-up of a secret agency that solely deals with evidence and information about UFOs and alien visitors, and the claim comes from several high-ranking military officers and a British secret agent who all gathered here over the weekend. Among the audience of some 200 at the Smithsonian’s National Atomic Testing Museum were my UFO expert pal Lee Spiegel from AOL/Huffington Post and his Sci-Fi TV channel friends Ben McGee of “Chasing UFOs,” Ben Hansen from “Fact or Faked” and “Poltergeist” author Mark Victor. There was a strange bright object handing in the sky over Albuquerque on Saturday evening, around 7:00pm. The VERY quickly disseminated story was that it was a high altitude weather balloon. It was stationary for the over 15 minutes I watched it. Since they test all sorts of stuff out here I thought the story was a little fishy. Do weather balloon hang motionless in the sky for long periods of time?

Not surprisingly, National Atomic Testing Museum executive director Allan Palmer has triggered a whinefest for having the gall to sponsor an upcoming lecture billed as "Military UFO Files: Secrets Revealed." Mainly it's coming from the How can you sully the Smithsonian brand with little green men? crowd. Palmer doesn't care. Although the Atomic Testing Museum is affiliated with the Smithsonian, it isn't a subsidiary. And when it comes to UFOs, like most reasonably intelligent people, the retired Navy commander would prefer an independent inquiry to a laughably outdated government fact sheet. Startling footage of three UFO lights hovering the skies above Los Angeles is raising some interesting questions. Does this video prove the existence of aliens? And if so, why are the extraterrestrials monitoring Beverly Hills, of all places? The two-minute video is very high quality, and you can clearly see three lights moving in near unison. You can view the amazing footage here. Considering all the police, fire and news choppers flying over Los Angeles at night, it's certainly possible these lights were coming from helicopters. The only problem with that theory, however, is that there was absolutely no sound...

THE HAGUE, Netherlands, -- A Dutch man said he completed a flight of about 330 feet using homemade wings based on those of a bird. Jarno Smeets, 31, an engineer, said he controlled the 55-foot wings using two Nintendo Wii controllers, the accelerometers from an HTC Wildfire S smartphone and Turnigy motors when he took off Sunday at a park in The Hague and flew for about a minute. "Ever since I was a little boy I have been inspired by pioneers like Otto Lilienthal, Leonardo da Vinci and also my own grandfather," Smeets said. Smeets has been chronicling his...

Rare Star Trek Photos Show Green Orion Slavegirls Like You’ve Never Seen Them The original Star Trek pilot, "The Cage," included a lot more of the scenes where Vina is turned into a green Orion slavegirl who dances for Captain Pike — but they were cut because they were too saucy for prime time television. Now, some rare Trek behind-the-scenes pictures include a brand new look at the unshown parts of Vina's dance sequence. Including a part where the poor slavegirl gets whipped. Turns out being an Orion slavegirl isn't all dancing and quoting poetry. Tom Redlaw, aka Bird of...

It would cost $852 quadrillion dollars to build a real Death Star That's 852 with 15 zeros following it. I know, that figure is insane. You know what that means. It means Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader were rolling in the money like filthy rich rappers. I guess ruling the Galactic Empire isn't so terrible when you're ballin'. Finally putting some questions to rest, the smart folk over at Centives calculated how much iron it would take to build the planet-destroying space station and even figured out how long it would take to build. Here's the reality-check breakdown: • Based...

Over the last week, several people that worked in the Reagan administration have come forward and countered former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s claim that he is a “Reagan Republican.” These people say Gingrich “wasn’t on board with a lot of what President Ronald Reagan tried to accomplish during his two terms.” And although that claim has been disputed by other Reagan administration officials, former Reagan communications director Pat Buchanan told “The McLaughlin Group” this weekend that Gingrich wasn’t seen favorably by those in the administration. “[I]n the Reagan White House, Newt Gingrich was considered quite frankly by a lot of...

If You Spot Bigfoot, Should You Shoot Him? In the new Animal Planet reality TV show optimistically titled "Finding Bigfoot," a team of experts examines video of an alleged Sasquatch spotted in the Canadian Rockies. The video, shot by a man named Todd Standing, shows something large and dark, standing atop a wooded ridge and then ducking back behind a bush. It could pretty much be anything, and when the experts concluded that the subject was probably not a Bigfoot, Standing expressed his frustration: "No video is ever going to be evidence, ever. It's never going to be good enough…"...
