Mississippi is a hire or fire at will state.  The Doctrine is from the State Supreme Court.  Employers or employees may terminate their relationship at will, for any or no reason. The US Capitol is on lockdown after a visitor opened fire, shooting and wounding a police officer - just hours after an active shooter drill in the government building. Staffers in the visitor center were ordered to shelter in place just before 3pm (Eastern Time) on Monday as police secured the area. The U.S. Supreme Court has decided not to hear the appeal from the 10th Circuit of Bonidy v.
