In an interview on ABC's "This Week," Donald Trump says that the Cold War-era alliance headquartered in Brussels has been revealed as "obsolete" following devastating terrorist attacks in that city this week.

"NATO doesn't discuss terrorism," Trump said. "NATO's not meant for terrorism. NATO doesn't have the right countries in it for terrorism."

NATO forces from Germany and Britain did deploy to Afghanistan after 9/11.

"NATO was done at a time you had the Soviet Union, which was obviously larger -- much larger than Russia is today. I'm not saying Russia is not a threat," Trump explained. "But we have other threats. We have the threat of terrorism."

John Kasick is on the change NATO too. It is clear that trump is a leader. Both Cruz and Kasick have followed trump’s lead on many issues. Both Cruz and Kasick are not ready to lead this country.

-yeah—it is amusing to hear that NATO should “do something” about ISIS, “Terrorism”, etc., when none of the members , (including us), can even “do something” about their own borders-—such as make them secure—

NATO was formed to oppose the Soviet Union, which no longer exists. Therefore NATO needs to redefine its mission and reconfigure appropriately or go away. Trump is right.

The billions of dollars spent by us to prop up NATO with unrealistic “exercises” to give the impression that NATO is somehow relevant could be better spent on our own problems. EU has its grown up pants on and has its own military objectives and units. They don’t want to be led by US generals. The Cold War is over. Bring our boys and money back home. Let EU grow and pay for their own.

I think it is interesting and refreshing that he looks at this alliance through the glass of American Interests.

Not the interests of other countries who have allowed themselves to become dependent upon us.

The NATO Charter call on every member country to spend a minimum of 2% of GDP on defense.

Only the US and Poland do.

Let us start with a proclamation that the US will abide by the NATO Treat with every country that also abides.

If not, they are essentially out as the big dog will not hear their call.
