For the past week, I've been posting about the "Omnibus Spending Bill" that the Dems have rammed through the congress. This $410 billion monster is for Fiscal Year 2009. They refused to do their job while Bush was in office and passed a continuing resolution last year to run the government until March 6. Now, they want big increases (even bigger than Bush would have approved), and they will get them with Obama's signature. Minority leader Boehner has been sounding the alarm on this since Februrary 5th. He was calling on the Dems to publish the bill so Republicans could...

Wednesday, February 4, 2009 GOA wants to thank all of you for your hard work in opposing the extremely anti-gun Eric Holder for Attorney General. While we lost the battle on Monday (by a vote of 75-21), you guys registered your opposition loud and clear. There is no doubt that your activism truly made gun rights THE issue in this nomination battle. Every Senator who spoke against Holder mentioned Second Amendment fears. And even among many of the Senators who voted for him, there was tremendous concern regarding Holder’s stance on gun rights. As stated by The Washington Post yesterday,...

Now that ought to create jobs! Democrats are banning religious expression on public campuses in their Stimulus boondoggle. Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) made the following statement after Democrats voted 43-54 against his amendment to strike language from the economic stimulus bill that discriminates against students of faith. Senator DeMint’s amendment would have eliminated a provision that bans any university or college receiving funds to renovate buildings, from allowing “sectarian instruction” or “religious worship” within the facility. This would in effect bar use of campus buildings for groups like the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Campus Crusade for Christ,...

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca.) will bring her “Kill the Children†economic stimulus plan to the floor of the House this week for a likely vote on Thursday. On ABC’s “This Week†last Sunday, Pelosi justified the inclusion of expanded federal funding for abortions as part of an economic stimulus plan on the grounds that reducing the number of children being born would help stimulate the economy.Pelosi’s pronouncement rightly raised the ire of Congressman John Carter (R-Tx.), secretary of the House Republican Conference. “To attempt to stimulate the economy by killing babies is an atrocity,†Carter said, speaking for...
