There's something special about the the Feb. 17 issue of Billboard Magazine, featuring former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello on the cover. Can't figure it out? OK, I'll just tell you: It was photographed with an iPhone 7 Plus using Portrait mode. But there's no way you'd have known that unless someone had told you. For the eighth and final time, I am presenting my annual Year in Photographs. All of them were taken either by me or a White House photographer on my staff. For many of the images, I’ve included the backstory behind the image to provide further context or to share why that image was particularly important to me

Tony Podesta and his wife Heather collect the art photographs of Hellen Van Meene: https://nmwa.org/sites/default/files/shared/sfy_van_meene.pdf Some are on loan to museums. Here's some more of her photos: http://hellenvanmeene.com/ Do NOT post any on this thread that cross any line morally or legally from this artist, but there are some out there. After hearing the kind of rituals going on at Tony's house, this is disturbing.

MOSCOW, September 25. /TASS/. The Officers of a Russia's non-governmental organization have blocked the entrance to the exhibition of the U.S. photographer Jock Sturges in Moscow in a protest against promoting his works, the organization’s head, and chair of the Public Chamber’s defense commission, Anton Tsvetkov said on Sunday. "If considered in Russia, the works by Jock Sturges could be qualified as a crime." "Right, he could have become famous by good pictures, but remember, this man used to participate in crimes. And he likewise was brought to responsibility also in the United States, though later on was justified. But...

It's been 2 1/2 months since the last birdy thread was posted. Florida is a bit too hot for this old man to get out and shoot much in high summer. However, today I had a visitor. A little blue heron was feeding on my front lawn. That seemed a tad unusual. There was also a flock of white ibis. This time of year the ibis begin to gather in larger and larger flocks preparing for their winter migration. I got a face shot of this youngster. Their eyes are cool Several weeks ago I saw a family of Florida...

Full title: Farewell to John Margolies, who glorified the diners and motels of roadside America and left us 13,000 photos>Travelers, let us now raise a glass--or perhaps a curvy old Coca-Cola bottle, freshly pried from a vintage service station fridge--to John Margolies, author, photographer, lecturer, road-trip royalty. Before Margolies came along, there was a little less love in this country for drive-through doughnuts and neon sombreros. But Margolies, 76, who died of pneumonia on May 26 in New York, spent most of his adult life seeking, snapping and celebrating the commercial imagery of America’s Main Streets and blue highways....

I had a pretty good morning. Hiked the Lake June Scrub State Park and good shots of the scrub jay and towhee. Came home to find the flycatcher posing in a ficus tree in our front yard; got his pic through the car window. Took a bike ride and found a great egret, a snowy egret and tricolor heron in the same small stream. The snowy and the tricolor worked the great egret. They were positioned about 50 apart. The great egret spent his time trying to shoo off each of them. As one avoided the great egret, the other...

“Palestinian” is a euphemism for Islamic Jew hatred. Previously I published the actual flag of Palestine before 1948. (above.) What follows is an “aha moment” in Muslims’ war on Israel. Now here is further proof of the lie (as if we needed any more) of the vicious historical revisionism by the Muslim world to erase the Jewish State and create a mythical Islamic narrative surrounding five thousand years of Jewish history. 9,000 Photos from 1800’s British Mandate of Palestine – with no trace of ‘Palestinians’ By Palestine/Israel Conflict, February 13, 2013 (thanks to Dan F): Where ARE all those Palestinians,...
