COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio's elections chief says she won't allow poll workers to take voting machines home for safekeeping in the days before the November presidential election.

Barack Obama isn't just relying on urban Democratic strongholds to win Ohio in November. Obama's campaign released a document Tuesday outlining a strategy to organize extensively in rural areas throughout the key battleground state. Some of those areas have long been strongholds for Republican candidates.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Ohio shows a toss-up between John McCain and Barack Obama. McCain attracts support from 45% of the Buckeye State’s Likely Voters while Obama earns support from 44%. Nationally, the race between McCain and Obama is also very competitive in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

A bill removing words such as idiot, lunatic and insane from the pages of the Ohio Revised Code got final approval from the Senate today. Ohio law refers to an idiot nine times. The word lunatic appears six times, while more than 50 instances of the term insane can be found in decades-old laws written to describe people suffering from a mental illness. House Bill 53, which passed 32-0, will remove those words and others, replacing them with inoffensive phrases. Gov. Ted Strickland will sign the bill, a spokesman said.
