  • What Devin Nunes Knows

    The Wall Street Journal ^ | KIMBERLEY A. STRASSEL | March 30, 2017
Team Obama was spying broadly on the incoming administration. California Rep. Adam Schiff may not offer much by way of substance, but give him marks for political flimflam. The ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee was so successful at ginning up fake outrage over his Republican counterpart that he successfully buried this week’s only real (and bombshell) news. Mr. Schiff and fellow Democrats spent this week accusing Chairman Devin Nunes of carrying water for President Trump, undermining the committee’s Russia investigation, and hiding information. The press dutifully regurgitated the outrage, as well as Mr. Schiff’s calls for Mr. Nunes...

Video of report that aired on Fox today - New sources were motivated to come forward by a report at the New York Times yesterday which apparently outed two people who helped Rep. Devin Nunes access information during a meeting in the Old Executive Office Building. Housley’s sources claim the two people who helped Nunes “navigate” to the information were not his sources. In fact, Nunes had been aware of the information since January but had been unable to view the documents themselves because of what Housley’s IC sources describe as stonewalling by the agencies in question.

    The White House said Thursday that while the media is “obsessed” with the details surrounding House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes’ (R-Calif.) visit to the White House last week, it is focused on finding out who leaked the names of U.S. citizens, which the intelligence community incidentally collected information on during surveillance of the Trump campaign. {..snip..}

The spying by the Obama administration on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump reportedly was even worse than what he has alleged. And it had nothing to do with Russia but everything to do with politics. Sources in the intelligence community claim the potentially illegal revealing of names, or unmasking, of people in the Trump camp who were under surveillance was done purely “for political purposes” to “hurt and embarrass (candidate) Trump and his team.” The bombshell revelations come from rank and file members of the intelligence community who are fighting back against a stonewall by the leaders at the nation’s spy...

Holy smoking gun, Batman! Once you wave away all the smoke created by our dishonest media, the story of this past week was pretty simple. The Trump-Russia-Conspiracy narrative is falling apart. The Obama-Spied-on-his-Political-Opposition narrative is coming together. The media has given credence to Democrat Congressman Adam Schiff's hysterical charges about how the Republican chair of the committee, Devin Nunes, made his latest discoveries. But Schiff is a dishonest McCarthyite, spewing insinuations and accusations without any proof to back them up. Nunes, on the other hand, has obviously gotten hold of solid intel showing that Obama spied on Trump and his...

Video Link Here's a transcript from her March 22nd interview: WOODRUFF: We spoke earlier this evening with former Obama White House National Security Adviser Susan Rice, the author of that piece. It was her first interview since leaving the White House. I began by asking about the allegations leveled today by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes that Trump transition officials, including the president, may have been swept up in surveillance of foreigners at the end of the Obama administration. RICE: I know nothing about this. I was surprised to see reports from Chairman Nunes on that count today. And...

There is nothing new about House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes leaving the panel’s secure room beneath the Capitol Building and heading to the White House complex or a related facility nearby to view raw intelligence, The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group has learned. For years, intelligence committee chiefs have trekked to the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue or to an intelligence agency to view such super sensitive intelligence material, because the congressional secure room can’t handle such material. Former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Pete Hoekstra told TheDCNF that “if someone was going to...

House rules compel Congress to ‘investigate any unauthorized disclosure of intelligence.’ That’s what the intel chair seems to have done when he talked about Team Trump and foreign surveillance. The controversy surrounding House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes may just be getting started. Nunes could soon be staring down the barrel of a House Ethics Committee investigation, lawyers familiar with the House’s rules tell The Daily Beast. A few Republicans have already joined Democrats in calling for Nunes to either recuse himself from his committee’s probe into Russian influence—or to step down as chairman. To add to this pressure, it...

Downplaying the idea that the criticism of Rep. Devin Nunes is a partisan witch-hunt, Democrats are pointing out that Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham have also raised questions about the behavior of the House Intelligence Committee chairman. Mr. Nunes has refused to bow to the demands of Democrats, who are calling on the California Republican to recuse himself from the House panel’s investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 election and allegations of collusion with the Trump campaign. “This isn’t a partisan criticism, you know you’ve got Lindsey Graham and John McCain and others saying, ‘I’ve never seen...

The chairman says he was invited by an unidentified intelligence official to review classified documents on the White House grounds — at the Old Executive Office Building, it appears, where the National Security Council has secure facilities for that purpose. These documents purportedly show that communications from Trump transition officials, and perhaps Trump himself, were intercepted during intelligence-agency monitoring of foreign powers; and Nunes says the monitoring in question appears unrelated to Russia’s meddling in the U.S. election. Nunes reports that the documents he was shown suggest that the Obama administration may have been using its foreign-intelligence powers to shadow...
  • Devin Nunes Vanished the Night Before He Made Trump Surveillance Claims

    03/25/2017 10:20:10 AM PDT · by RoosterRedux · 67 replies
Hours before the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee announced his shocking claims about surveillance of the Trump transition team on Wednesday morning, he practically disappeared. Rep. Devin Nunes was traveling with a senior committee staffer in an Uber on Tuesday evening when he received a communication on his phone, three committee officials and a former national security official with ties to the committee told The Daily Beast. After the message, Nunes left the car abruptly, leaving his own staffer in the dark about his whereabouts. By the next morning, Nunes hastily announced a press conference. His own aides, up...

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) made headlines, when surprising everyone who was not him, just days after FBI Director Comey testified before Congress, he held a press conference to announce members of Trump’s transition team were “incidentally” surveilled and unmasked by the Obama administration. Since making the initial claims, Nunes’ story has been dynamic and difficult to track. It’s also worth noting that Nunes was part of Trump’s White House transition team. (I imagine he saw his name in these mysterious intel briefings and wigged out. But that’s purely speculation.) Now, Rep. Nunes claims he met with...

The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee on Monday said he is sure officials in the West Wing had no idea he visited White House grounds to view classified material last week. "I'm quite sure people at West Wing had no idea I was there," Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) told CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer." Nunes also contended his visit was not the clandestine trip he said the media reported it to be. "I wasn't trying to hide," Nunes said, adding that he stopped to talk to several people during the visit, including foreign dignitaries. "If I wanted...

The embattled House intelligence committee chairman, Devin Nunes, has said he had no choice under classification rules except to view sensitive documents at the White House, a statement likely to intensify speculation that the Trump administration fed Nunes the material. *snip* Nunes has dodged questions, primarily from CNN, that his source came from the White House, and intimated that whistleblowers from the intelligence agencies brought the surveillance documents to him. Nunes told Bloomberg View on Monday that his source was an intelligence official and not a White House staffer. But Nunes’ office has acknowledged that the chairman viewed whatever surveillance...

If you listen to Intel Committee Chair Devin Nunes public interviews in the exact time-line sequence, from March 22nd to now, a clear picture emerges. The “tipster” source is unknown. However, the actual intelligence report(s) he reviewed, which contained the unmasked surveillance information, was simply President Obama’s daily intelligence Briefing(s). It appears, most likely, someone (aka mysterious tipster), simply told Nunes which dates to review.  Hence the Executive Branch SCIF was utilized.  The ACTUAL intelligence product itself was the Executive Office Presidential Daily Intelligence Briefing. Most likely a Clapper (ODNI), Rogers (NSA), Comey (FBI Counter Intel), and Brennan (CIA) work...

(CNN)Key House Democrats are calling on Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes to recuse himself from an investigation into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, widening a stunning partisan split over the probe. "The Chair of the House Intelligence has a serious responsibility to the Congress and to the country," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said in a statement to CNN Monday evening. "Chairman Nunes' discredited behavior has tarnished that office. (House) Speaker (Paul) Ryan must insist that Chairman Nunes at least recuse himself from the Trump-Russia investigation immediately. That leadership is long overdue." Her request came a little...

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.) blasted Senate Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) on Monday for Schumer's criticisms of the House Intelligence Committee chairman. Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R., Calif.), has been criticized for a trip to the White House he made to go through classified material related to possible surveillance over President Donald Trump during his transition. After Schumer asked Nunes to be removed from his position as chairman, Gowdy went after Schumer, Fox News reports. "I just love it when Senator Schumer gives Republicans advice on what we ought to do," Gowdy said on Monday. "Devin is...
