The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee on Monday said he is sure officials in the West Wing had no idea he visited White House grounds to view classified material last week.
"I'm quite sure people at West Wing had no idea I was there," Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) told CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."
Nunes also contended his visit was not the clandestine trip he said the media reported it to be.
"I wasn't trying to hide," Nunes said, adding that he stopped to talk to several people during the visit, including foreign dignitaries.
"If I wanted to, I could have snuck onto the White House grounds at night when nobody would have seen me," he said, disputing reports that he made the trip at night.

If Nunes does have a whistleblower from the NSA, that’s an administration agency - I can understand such a person being literally afraid for his life, given what I have no doubt the Democrats have pulled in the past - maybe this person is now working on the White House or not, but it would seem a logical place to have someone who was or still is a member of the administrative branch meet......

With the current state of the Secret Service protection at the White House now, most anyone could make that statement.

Why is Nunes being so defensive? Nunes had a right to talk to the President about this matter without seeking anyone’s permission. It’s simple — the President needs to know whether anyone has been spying on him, either before or after the election.
House of Cards was a Boy Scout picnic compared to what may be going on here - I start to fear for Nunes’ safety - both physically and politically....
True...but trying to give a relatable example. This is some serious stuff that could get you killed....hell for all we know he could have gotten a message that the person in the car was spying on him and couldnt be trusted.
