Jack Ely, the Portland guitarist and singer best known for the Kingsmen's 1960s hit "Louie, Louie," has died, his son told KOIN news this morning. In 1963, as the story goes, The Kingsmen recorded "Louie, Louie" in a studio at Northwest 13th Avenue and Burnside. I rarely record cover tunes, but this one is worthy of special attention. In 1989, the British band Napalm Death released their magnum opus "You Suffer". While attaining a cult following, this sorely underrated work never achieved the mainstream recognition it so richly deserved. Today, by doing this cover version, I hope to start changing that. Did anyone else notice that the sound track on the annoying TENA ad was recently changed? The singing in the car was dramatically toned down and the horrendous cackling laugh in the movie theatre was removed.

I need some advice. I have a rather large collection of vinyl records that I plan to record to an external computer hard drive. The record player that I have uses i-tunes to process each cut onto the computer. Does anyone on here have any experience with this that could maybe recommend a different/better idea to handle saving everything on to the hard drive. I am looking for flexibility in moving the finished product between computers.
