When Tiger Woods was brought to the Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Fla., his condition was more serious than previously reported. According to a person with knowledge of Woods’ hospital admission, the star golfer had to be admitted directly to the hospital’s intensive care unit, where he was immediately intubated and his breathing stabilized. Also, there’s clarification about the police interview with Woods’ neighbors, who called 911. At the time of the 911 call, neighbor Jarius Lavar Adams told dispatchers that Woods was asleep on the lawn, snoring. “Although the body can snore in any state of unconsciousness, it’s unlikely...

Forget The iPhone: The iPod touch Is Where It’s At Posted 12/07/2009 at 8:33:11am by J.R. Bookwalter Apple may have to fend off a number of competitors for the iPhone’s crown of smartphone dominance, but one area where there seems to be comparatively little competition is the roost ruled by the iPod touch. Based upon a report by Flurry, a San Francisco mobile analytics company, there are 24 million iPod touches in use, which represent 40% of the total 58 million iPhone OS devices, according to Gigaom’s Om Malik. After all, the iPod touch has one big advantage over the...

Glenn Beck recently put on a live show called "The Christmas Sweater" which was essentially a performance version of the book Beck wrote about his own life. The show was done with most roles performed by Beck himself with all of his raw emotion on display. In addition a video of the performance was shown in theaters throughout the country.... Unfortunately for Beck he will not be receiving an Oscar or Tony according to reviews of the show... Beck sold just seventeen tickets in the major media markets of New York and Boston. Sales were better in more conservative areas...

Here is what President Obama said about Springsteen: Finally, we honor the quiet kid from Jersey ... who grew up to become the rock 'n' roll laureate of a generation. For in the life of our country only a handful of people have tapped the full power of music to tell the real American story -- with honesty; from the heart; and one of those people is Bruce Springsteen... It's no wonder that his tours are not so much concerts, but communions. There's a place for everybody -- the sense that no matter who you are or what you do,...

Fast-forward to the reception in the East Room of the White House, before the Kennedy Center Honors show. Said the president: "Bruce was a great fan -- a great friend over the last year, and when I watched him on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial when he rocked the National Mall before my inauguration, I thought it captured as well as anything the spirit of what America should be about. On a day like that, and today, I remember: I'm the president, but he's The Boss."

All Hail the iPod touch By Om Malik December 6, 2009 As the competition for smartphone domination starts to heat up, it is becoming increasingly clear that the iPod touch is Apple’s ace up its sleeve, and according to a report by Flurry, a San Francisco-based mobile analytics company, 24 million iPod touches represent about 40 percent of the total 58 million iPhone OS devices. From the time I first laid my hands on the iPod touch, I have been a big fan of it — after all, it is just like an iPhone except that it has more storage, is...

Norris’ flat onscreen persona has spawned an ironic Internet movement, and now, a book by Norris himself. Sean Macaulay analyzes the strange afterlife of the worst actor in action. It's official. Chuck Norris can tame anything, even his own meme. The iconic action star's new book, The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book, is Norris’ personal selection of Internet-spawned “facts” about himself, and it's already the bestselling martial arts book in the country. An unofficial Chuck Norris fact book—The Truth About Chuck Norris: 400 Facts About the World's Greatest Human—did have the nerve to appear two years ago, but as any...

Chet Baker was a leading jazz musician in the 1950s, playing trumpet and providing vocals. Baker died in 1988, yet he is about to add a new claim to fame as the lead plaintiff in possibly the largest copyright infringement case in Canadian history. His estate, which still owns the copyright in more than 50 of his works, is part of a massive class-action lawsuit that has been underway for the past year. As my weekly technology law column (Toronto Star version, homepage version) notes, the infringer has effectively already admitted owing at least $50 million and the full claim...
