MORTON, Miss. – U.S. immigration officials say raids at seven food processing plants in Mississippi resulted in 680 arrests. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Acting Director Matthew Albence told The Associated Press that the arrest count from Wednesday’s raids may make it the largest workplace sting in more than a decade and probably the largest ever for a single state. Authorities say about 600 agents fanned out across the plants, surrounding the perimeters to prevent workers from fleeing. They targeted several companies. The raids happened in small towns near Jackson with a workforce made up largely of Latino immigrants. The...

The number of U.S. voters who see white nationalism as a threat is greater today than five months ago, according to a new poll.Forty-seven percent of voters said they perceive white nationalism as a threat, according to a Morning Consult/Politico poll released Wednesday and taken in the days after a mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, last weekend. It’s a 10-point increase from March, when 37 percent of voters said white nationalism was a threat in poll that followed the New Zealand mosque shootings. The gunman in the New Zealand attack, which killed 51 people, allegedly wrote a manifesto filled...

Last week, Townhall covered MAGA supporter Scott Presler's call to action in Baltimore by inviting "Americans to help Americans" and go clean up neighborhoods in Charm City. Presler at first kept secret when the event would occur for fear of retaliation from the far-left like Antifa. But, on Saturday, Presler and 100 other citizens from all over the country traveled to West Baltimore for the massive trash clean up. By all measures, it was hugely successful. However, on Monday, the Baltimore Sun's editorial board ran an op-ed, trashing Presler and his group saying they only did the event to embarrass Baltimore...

On June 28, in the main courtroom of Charlottesville’s federal courthouse, U.S. Attorney Thomas T. Cullen rose to his feet. It had been nearly two years since white supremacists brawled with counterprotesters at a violence-filled rally nearby; now, standing still and stoic, the tall, lean Cullen addressed the court regarding the sentencing of James Fields Jr. At the rally in August 2017, Fields, 22, had driven his Dodge Challenger into a crowd of peaceful protesters, maiming many and killing one. Having been convicted on federal hate crimes charges, Fields deserved nothing less than life in prison, Cullen argued. From the...

In the wake of the horrific mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, liberals have decided to ban another word: illegal immigrant. Despite the fact that it’s been used in the political lexicon for decades, it’s now seen as a call for violence…if you’re an unhinged liberal. In journalism, illegal immigrant (or alien) was used—and nothing happened. Why? Well, because there’s a special class of people who commit these mass shootings, most are mentally ill. And in the case of El Paso, the shooter seemed like a loser fuming over the fact he lost a job opportunity at a local store....

Right now, Americans across the country are looking at the extreme evil that emanated out of the El Paso shooter, which led to the death of at least 22 innocent civilians, and wondering how we as a nation can move on and improve from the tragedy. "How could somebody be so evil?," many question. But from this shooting comes the opportunity for America to look at what a true man looks like in the example set forth by Christopher Grant. Grant is an El Paso survivor who distracted the Walmart shooter and risked his own life in an attempt to...

Before President Trump boarded his plane to Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas on Wednesday to meet with communities in mourning, he spoke with reporters on the White House lawn. The press particularly wanted to know what he thought of his accusers tying his rhetoric to the shooting in El Paso. The suspect used language similar to that of Trump's immigration remarks in his online manifesto, according to some. President Trump speaks to reporters before departing for his visits to Dayton and El Paso and says critics of his rhetoric are "people who are looking for political gain" https://t.co/FkjDJtROch...

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (CN) — The federal judge who temporarily blocked enforcement of Arkansas abortion restrictions extended her order Tuesday while a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the laws proceeds through court. U.S. District Judge Kristine Baker in Little Rock issued a preliminary injunction hours before her two-week temporary restraining order was set to expire. The July 23 restraining order was issued the day before the new laws were to take effect. Tuesday’s 186-page order found the three laws that include a ban on abortion after 18 weeks of pregnancy would cause “ongoing and imminent irreparable harm.” The judge also...

FBI is implicated in destroying evidence to benefit Clinton.. In breaking news, the American Center for Law and Justice or ACLJ (Jay Sekulow's organization, not related to his role as the President's attorney), has obtained actual copies of the immunity agreements pertaining to Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson in the Hillary email scandal. This was a stunning litigation win, hard-fought after years of litigation by the ACLJ attorneys, who were unable to extract the documents through the normal FOIA processes, due to a lack of cooperation by the government. In reviewing what the agreements uncovered, keep in mind that Cheryl...

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said this week's missile launches were an "adequate warning" against the joint military exercise between South Korea and the United States that kicked off earlier this week, state media reported Wednesday. On Tuesday, North Korea fired two projectiles believed to be short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea, the fourth such launch in less than two weeks. They flew about 450 kilometers across the northern part of the Korean Peninsula, according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS). "Two tactical guided missiles launched at the operational airfield in the western area of the country flew...

An Arkansas town council recently joined a growing list of U.S. cities that are taking a stand against abortion. The Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports the Springdale City Council Committee of the Whole voted unanimously Monday to adopt the pro-life statement. The full city council plans to vote on the measure Aug. 13. The statement declares Springdale to be a pro-life city. It also tells the abortion chain Planned Parenthood that it is not welcome there, according to the report. Though the statement does not have any legal weight, it sends a message that Springdale supports life, said council member Colby...

The Trump administration has issued additional sanctions against Venezuelan officials, continuing the maximum pressure campaign against illegitimate dictator Nicolas Maduro. "On August 5, the President of the United States signed an Executive Order blocking all property and interests in property of the Government of Venezuela that are in the United States, that hereafter come within the United States, or that are or hereafter come within possession or control of any United States person," the Treasury Department released in a statement Tuesday. "This Executive Order is designed to directly target the former Maduro regime and those who support it, while exempting...

Remember the signature event in Ferguson, Missouri, that started the recent war on cops? You know, where the lie of 'hands up don't shoot' was spawned? Remember when the Congressional Black Caucus embarrassingly stood on the House floor with their hands raised? I remember when they smeared the character, reputation, and sacrifice of the fine men and women who put on a uniform and risk greatly to protect and serve. They weren't alone. Even President Obama had added fuel to the fire claiming that our police officers have a problem with people who don't look like them. At that time,...

President Donald Trump sued California Tuesday challenging a state law that requires candidates for president to disclose income tax returns before they can appear on the state's primary ballot. The federal lawsuit from Trump and his campaign is the latest move by the President to resist efforts to turn over his tax returns. The law adds an "unconstitutional qualification" to the fixed set of qualifications for the presidency set forward in the Constitution and violates the First Amendment, Trump's lawyer William Consovoy argued in the lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of California.

Let's begin with a reminder that my position on partisan blame after horrific acts of violence has been quite clear and consistent.  I believe it's almost always grossly unfair, and a cheap political smear, to pin mass murder on mainstream ideological opponents, even by implication.  Leave it to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to make the least fair point in the dumbest and ugliest way possible.  Take it away, lady: Ocasio-Cortez: Trump's immigration rhetoric is "directly responsible" for El Paso mass shooting https://t.co/6jZPnAP9wx pic.twitter.com/vWiXGFLD42— The Hill (@thehill) August 6, 2019 Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) late Monday said that President Trump's divisive rhetoric on...

Earlier today, President Trump -- with Vice President Pence by his side -- addressed the nation from the White House. Â Americans are still reeling from a bloody and horrible weekend, during which two young white males perpetrated appallingly lethal mass shootings on consecutive days. Â A white supremacist and anti-immigrant fanatic murdered 20 (update: now 21) people at a Walmart in Texas on Saturday, then a disturbed self-identified leftist killed nine on a busy city street in Ohio. Â The president forcefully denounced the "barbaric" violence, calling for unity and healing, and urging elected officials to take bipartisan action to help curb...

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said on Monday that he will introduce bipartisan legislation encouraging states to create "red flag" laws and that President Trump is "very supportive" of the idea. Graham, in a statement, said he has reached a deal with Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) on a bill that would start a federal grant program to help and encourage states to create " 'red flag' protection order" laws, which are meant to make it easier for law enforcement to identify mentally ill people who should be banned from purchasing guns.

A lawmaker in Ohio blamed the breakdown of the “traditional American family,” gay marriage and “drag queen advocates” for the Dayton massacre in a since-deleted Facebook rant... Keller’s post goes on to blame “drag queen advocates,” failed school policies, violent video games and children who are raised without fathers as other reasons for the mass shooting that erupted less than 24 hours after 20 people were gunned down at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas. The post also claimed that a growing "hatred of our veterans,"...other explanations for the shooting. Keller then criticized state lawmakers for having what she claims...

(Reuters) - China has approved wheat imports from the Russian region of Kurgan, the Chinese customs office said on Friday, bringing Russia a step closer to its goal of dramatically increasing grain exports. It also approved soybean imports from all parts of Russia, the General Administration of Customs said in a separate statement on its website, having all but halted U.S. soy imports as the trade dispute between Beijing and Washington deepened. China was the top buyer of U.S. soybeans until Beijing slapped a 25% tariff on shipments last year in response to U.S. tariffs on a range of Chinese...
