Last night around 10:30 Pacific, I posted two comments, one an embedded YouTube link (which of course didn't show up in the post), and the second, the URL to that YouTube of Trump's Saudi speech. This morning, the discussion thread is up and the comments are missing. No not that they were removed by a moderator. Never seen this before and after the recent downtime, raising this question in case anyone else has seen same. Maybe, if others are seeing comments disappear, there is an underlying technical issue?

Been here in one form or another since 2000.... this is the longest outage I remember...

We've all seen pages being slow to load / partial page loads for the last couple months. This goes beyond that. Two things I'm seeing: 1) Blank pages being "served". You hit a link, and get a blank page. 2) Connection errors - This is happening when posting a comment. When posting, I get a "server connection reset" error. Is it time to swap out the hamsters running the FR servers for some fresh ones?

Anyone know what happened to the site this morning? A DDOS attack perhaps?

I was surfing FR this afternoon and suddenly was unable to access any page on FR and the error stated the server could not be found. I located the IP address, 209.157.64.200, of the server and then added an entry into my PC's host file and I can now see FR again. I still do not see a DNS entry for FR, and that is interesting.

So I noticed a bunch of people have been able to find the trick to getting to FR using the IP in their browser, but can't log in. Here's a step-by-step guide for Windows on how to log in. NOTE: You need to be an administrator on your machine. You don't have to do anything scary, but you need admin privileges to do the following simple task in step 1.
