Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site... or so they say... and they might even be right. We don't go for any of that godless left-wing big government socialist malarkey. And we do put our faith and trust in God, not government. We are pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Family, pro-Country and pro-Liberty. We do not believe that government or science knows what's best for us or our children. We will make our own decisions thank you very much. Every once in a while some group of posters get together and try to bend Free Republic to their will. Now, we...

American conservatism is devoted to conserving the American republic. Since the American republic is commonly classified as a “liberal” regime, the question of this symposium almost seems to answer itself: Conservatism today serves liberalism. (“Liberalism” in this context refers to its original 18th-century variety, meaning a limited government whose chief aim is to secure individual rights, rather than the modern variety, meaning a positive state that seeks to establish “social justice.”)

This is a public service announcement from your friendly neighborhood Admin Moderators (Sidebar gave us some attitude so we shoved him in the closet for a while. He never recovered from the Yacht incident) For a while, we have noticed some things happening that we need your help with. The Free Republic community is strong; we are almost a family, albeit very dysfunctional at times. Like any community, we have new members joining us daily. Unfortunately, the air of suspicion and the desire to keep things “the way they are” has fostered a feeling of distrust with new members. Almost...

Freepers, as they refer to themselves, are at best a wild and woolly bunch whose message board discussions can evoke images of barroom brawls as portrayed in a John Wayne Western. (You know, the visiting Ingénue sits on the bar with a teapot as she waits for a chance to smash it on the head of an evildoer as they coast past her position while Granny knits quietly in the corner and trips everyone who comes within range) And Codrea is a professional gun magazine writer whose online commentary frequently includes obscure sentences of the *We discussed that HERE(HTML Link)...

The 2009 FreeRepublic LexiconAKA "The Freepism, Freepology, Lingo, Dictionary, Terminology, Lore Handbook" A revised and condensed version of The Lexicon of FreeRepublic, culled from Lexicon of FreeRepublic - 4th Edition and Freeper Lingo Thread (the history and meening of 'Freepisms' including pictures). Thanks to the many Freepers who contributed, especially Bugbear and Risky Schemer, the originators of the first lexicon! (see also The 2008 FreeRepublic Lexicon) I have attempted to include all definitions and histories provided to me and give credit to those who provided me the information. I apologize, in advance to those I failed to credit, but please...

Bottom half I'm not a techie at all. I did this over a year ago, and it really gives an instant view of FR. Because I don't have a clue what I did .. I don't dare make changes I may want to make for fear of screwing it up entirely ... LOL. I just remember it was really confusing, and after many frustrating different color and location choices, this turned up and works really well.

Following up on this morning’s post about Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) calling for a hearing on “44 czars,” I asked McHenry’s spokesman Brock McCleary where that number came from. “We’re using a variety of sources and finding everyone who has been referred to as a ‘czar,’” said McCleary. “It would be appropriate for the WH to release a formal list.” In the meantime, McClearly provided me with two sources that McHenry’s office is using to build a czar list: this list from Politico, and this thread from the conservative web forum FreeRepublic.com. The FreeRepublic thread begins with a list from...

When the "tea party" movement kicked off in April to protest record federal spending bills, trillion-dollar deficits and higher tax burdens, its members were fiercely independent and opposed any suggestion that they bond with a larger umbrella group, preferring to work within their local communities. But that go-it-alone approach is changing as a result of the war over health care, and the Tea Party Express tour is leading the way. The Tea Party Express - a caravan of buses, speakers and entertainers who have been holding protest rallies in cities and towns across the country - is heading to Washington,...

Today, a human being died. He is now in eternity. Whether or not he made any private repentance of what he did concerning Mary Jo, abortion, or any other sin he committed in this life is not known. We may doubt seriously that he did since he showed no inclination in his public life. But we do not know. Only God knows. What we do know is that we have a longstanding tradition on Free Republic. We hold our tongues when someone dies. We do not act like the people on Democrat underground who rejoiced when Tony Snow and Ronald...

A thread with this title was posted about 10 years ago. The top choices were JohnHuang2 and kattracks (who sadly died of cancer a couple of years ago). My current favorites are governsleastgovernsbest for posting his great commentaries from newsbusters here (this is NOT an ad). I also like RobinMasters, he finds great articles to post. Also, kudos to Cindy for her relentless research. And of course, Jim Robinson who makes this all possible. This thread is dedicated to kattracks, a true friend of FR. May she rest in peace.

http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3179840 As some of you may have noticed, recently the Republican Party has begun cracking down on the "birthers", realizing that openly supporting the most crazy members of your party is, well, problematic for appealing to non-crazy people. This, of course, leads to even more crazy, as they turn on their leaders for hiding the "truth". It's a drat shame to let all this crazy go to waste, when properly cultivated and raised it could be so much more. So welcome to the first FreeRepublic Infiltration Contest! We're going to infiltrate freerepublic as agents provocateur. This can take several forms;...

...The site is a venerable and storied Web forum for American arch-conservatives. Funded by member donations, it was founded in 1996 as an anti-Clinton grandstand, and soon became a place where members could post news stories and discuss them -- though "discussion" might be the wrong word. More often, it's a kind of pantomime, where the name of the game is to cheer the good guy and boo the bad guy every time he creeps on stage...

The Freepers are playing with fire again. Most recently, they received national media attention for calling 11-year old Malia Obama "a ghetto whore" among other hateful and racist things. Now, check out this post by 'patriotgal1787'. Especially, the last bullet point she raises declaring a "blood bath" as the only way to rid themselves of Obama. I don't believe that this is the first time the FreeRepublic site has featured posts suggesting bloody violence be committed against the President, but their insanity seems to ratchet up weekly. Perhaps, they are only full of hot air, but this suggestion by iodiotgal1787...

SNIP Since the article ran, Free Republic nutcases and others (notably Gawker) have dug into Parry's past. Here are a few of the accusations they make: Parry has posted on Free Republic under a name other than his own; He has a long-standing grudge against the site, and vice versa; He has advocated posing as a conservative and posting hate speech on Free Republic to muckrake (Gawker calls this "mild advocacy" in a really unclear way); And, most importantly, he may be the agent provocateur in this case, posting hateful comments on Free Republic to suit his article. Some hefty...

Chris Parry of the Vancouver Sun recently wrote an article about a bunch of nasty comments posted about Obama’s daughter Malia on Free Republic: “A typical street whore.” “A bunch of ghetto thugs.” “Ghetto street trash.” “Wonder when she will get her first abortion. “Could you imagine what world leaders must be thinking seeing this kind of street trash and that we paid for this kind of street ghetto trash to go over there?” wrote one commenter. blah, blah, blah snipped Those comments are pretty stupid. As much as I dislike Obama and his policies and his lack of honest...

The Daily Kos is scoring a lot of political points against Free Republic with the race and children cards. It was not our finest hour. But just how saintly and pure of thought are the Kossacks? Here’s the original Kos diary from Thursday that got the ball rolling against FR.The Kos diarist who posted the piece, Halfrican, closed his report on the FR thread with this wish for Freepers and their children:I hope all these Freepers have children that grow up to either marry black people or f*** them in high school. (asterisks added.)But we're the racists, right? I wonder...

The most recent master list of ping lists is from 2007 (over two years old - egad!). So, after another FReeper suggested tonight that we need an updated master list, I figured, take some initiative. Anyways, if you have a ping list, or more than one, (please) say so on this thread so I can compile a new master list over the next week. [Apologies if this duty was someone else's and I accidentally took over.] Thanks! :)

How to tell if you've been FReeping too longIf some, many or all of the following apply to you, you probably have been FReeping too long. You remember when you had to know basic HTML in order to form a decent post. You remember when the entire thread had to be 86’d in order to remove a single post. You remember when if someone forgot to close their italics, bold tags, the entire thread after that point was in bold or italics. You remember when if a disruptor made a mess of things during the wee hours of the night,...

Freepers: After sleeping on it, I have decided to call you to action! A great injustice is being perpetrated by our main stream media (MSM) and our Commander In Chief (CINC), President Barrack Hussein Obama. The time now is 10:04 CST, 02 JUNE 09, exactly 24 hours after Privates William Long, 23 of Conway, AR, and Private Second Class Quinton Ezeagwula, 18, of Jacksonville, AR became the first victims of terrorism on American soil since 11 SEP 01 and we have heard no statement from their Commander in Chief, President Barrack Hussein Obama. Almost as egregious as Obama’s silence, we...

As you can see from this Newsbusters piece, CNN's ultraliberal stalwart used a standard propaganda method yesterday, pushing the 'inevitability' of homo 'marriage', just as Bill O'Reilly did the day before. 'Inevitability' plays are designed to crush your opponent's will to fight, and generate public acceptance. Bill O'Reilly is a lib plant in conservative clothing, as I have said for a long time. For some reason I think fewer people will disagree with me today. When O'Reilly stopped his talk radio show because noone wanted to listen to his faux-con bloviations, he left with some parting shots at talk radio...

Most people on Daily Kos are (painfully) aware of Free Republic, the bottomless digital repository of bigotry, authoritarianism and hatred for most other Americans, all wrapped in 90's-era HTML. Usually, sane people who stop by there to check it out, find something utterly appalling within a few minutes of browsing, and close the page, never to return. Thus, there isn't a lot of detailed knowledge of Free Republic on Daily Kos. One important feature of the site is that it is community-supported through donation drives called "Freepathons." In 2008, Jim Robinson, the site founder, seems to have decided to purge...

I'm going to try one more time to explain what FR is all about. Free Republic is a conservative site. That does not necessarily mean it is a Republican site. In fact there may be many Republicans we don't support and some Republican issues we cannot agree with. I'll throw in Arlen Specter as a prime example of a Republican we cannot support. Should be obvious to all why not. Should also be just as obvious to all that we cannot support Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, John McCain and his lap dog Lindsay Graham, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, et al....

Posting embedded video on forums threads is common among internet discussion sites. I don't see why we can't have that on FR. It won't put any additional burden on the FR servers and will save posters and readers the inconvenience of leaving FR to visit an external site (Youtube, etc). Policy makers please consider this. Thanks.

Do my fellow iPhone owners have the secret for happy FR reading while out and about? Please help if you can.

No April Fool's Joke, Paychecks To IncreaseAl Sunshine Reporting Apr 1, 2009 4:22 pm US/Eastern MIAMI (CBS4) - This is not an April Fool's joke – starting Wednesday most Americans will notice a little extra in their paychecks. As part of the Obama administrations $787 billion economic stimulus package, the two year "Making Work Pay" tax break goes into effect April 1st and will affect 95 percent of working American families. **SNIP** Instead of getting a single check like last year, the tax break will be doled out over the next two years as tax credits in paychecks. I have no idea what kind of response to expect from this question. I'm a conservative FReeper at heart and always will be but I have an innate need to debate and humiliate libs for fun and amusement. The same reason the US Gubmint spends billions on NASA. There may be intelligent life out there and because I can and have to expand the horizons. It's human nature. I could use some help trying to figure out their technology and spread the conservative message to the unwashed masses in the proletariat who might read it.

A Courier Mail article entitled ‘Aussie Oscar winner Eva Orner slams US as War Criminals‘ has been reproduced over at that bastion of far-right group-think, anti-free-thought and attempted career assassination (aka mass organised stalking), Free Republic. Of course, News Ltd misrepresents Orner as you can expect a News Ltd publication to do; Orner’s criticism was limited to the US administration.

Is it possible that state legislators know precisely what they are doing? Whether they know it or not, they are putting the people in the proper position to reclaim their country. Do they have the courage to follow through? (snip) On February 5, 2009, I released a column titled New Hampshire Leads Next American Revolution! At the time, only a handful of states had introduced legislative efforts to reclaim state sovereignty under the Ninth and Tenth Amendments of the US Constitution. As of February 17th, when I released It’s Time for American Freedom Fighters to Unite, some twenty states had...

Okay everyone, welcome to the general Alabama thread on Free Republic! Use this thread to post interesting news, tidbits, plans, meeting times, or just to converse with your fellow people of Alabama. This thread will be used to properly coordinate FR activism and various other activities...and, if things go well, serve as the proper thread for Alabama FR chapters to plan and organize. Hope you all make good use of it!
