A man has been arrested and charged after allegedly putting hydrochloric acid inside what is understood to be a lubricant dispenser at a gay club in Sydney's north-west. Police said the 62-year-old man went into the Bridge Street premises in Rydalmere on Saturday, filling a dispenser inside a room with the highly corrosive acid. Hydrochloric acid is a strong, corrosive acid which can produce burns, ulcers and scars when put into contact with skin.

One of the men charged with killing the cousin of NBA star Dwyane Wade was "on his daily break from an electronic monitoring bracelet" at the time of the murder, Chicago police said Sunday. An exasperated Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie T. Johnson said at a news conference that Derren Sorrells' ankle monitor wasn't active when 32-year-old Nykea Aldridge was shot and killed in front of a school on Friday. Sorrells and his brother, Darwin Sorrells Jr., were charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder on Sunday.

A flag desecration charge was dropped Monday for a man who protested a crude oil pipeline that crosses his property by hanging an American flag upside down at his home, online court records show. Homer Martz, 63, was charged Friday under a state law that makes it illegal to defile, cast contempt upon, satirize or deride a flag. That law, however, was declared unconstitutional by a federal judge in December 2014 and state prosecutors were told not to enforce it. Another fallacy that is disabused in this survey (which states it follows in a long line of other surveys) is that more background checks will change anything in terms of how criminals get guns. Since they typically do not walk into an FFL making background checks more demanding, is not going to decrease the use of guns in crimes. For ordinary citizens, they must and do comply with the gun laws no matter how they acquire their guns.
