    my weird cat
I'm sitting in the den Friday night watching Samurai movies. My weird psycho cat Rocket jumps into my chair and gets all cuddly and lovey. I am patting him and he gets this look in his eyes and I know what is next. He bites the tar out of me.

    little ol' me
I've done worn out a couple of Charbroils, a Weber grill, and two smokers (one no name and an Oklahoma Joe's) so far. Went shopping to BBQs Galore and Elliott's up in Plano and ran across the big brother to this piece of bbq machinery. So far, my favorite. Man love baby.

what day is this? | Just l'il ole me
I proposed to She Who Must Be Obeyed on Christmas Day, in front of all the usual suspects. So now the marriage machine is in full stroke and I am planning our honeymoon. I think we have settled on a roadtrip through the Appalachians up to Arlington. Probably come back through the FL panhandle, over to Nawlins and back home to Dallas. I have a few thoughts and many questions ...

Two nights in a row, huge fight between me and She Who Must Be Obeyed. I can't watch this carp, I hate it. Before my head explodes I have to say the show is stupid, the talent is stupid, the whole idea of this is stupid. And Bruno is a wiggler, which is stupid. I'll take my lumps on this, from her and all y'all, I just can't watch this show. I brought my Hamburger Helper out here to the DawgHouse so I could surf something, anything, but DWTS. Ended up here on FR, as usual. I bought her a...

  • Redneck Olympics faces lawsuit over name

HEBRON — The Redneck Olympics are facing a legal challenge from the United States Olympic Committee, according to organizer Harold Brooks. Brooks said he received a phone call Monday from a legal office of the USOC, telling him he needs to change the name of his event in the future or face a lawsuit. He was told the word “Olympics” is the property of the Olympic Committee. Brooks said it's a case of large group bullying a small businessman. “I said, 'I'm not basing it on your Olympics, I'm basing it on the Olympics in Greece.'” Brooks said. “I understand...

OK, I think these things are stoopid, but I see them all around here in Texas. Sometimes accompanied by a cowbell. Pic at the linky. You may be a redneck if you have "truck nuts" hanging from your bumper, but I guess that is Free Speech. I guess I'd rather see those than a COEXIST sticker.

If I ever get gainful employment again, I plan to buy a rifle. I don't consider a 5.56mm to be a proper battle rifle, call me a doofus but I want a .30 caliber firearm with a shortish barrel. No AKs, that might come later. I have all the handguns I need, as far as She Who Must Be Obeyed knows anyway. Might pick up another or two along the way, but I want a long gun. Don't know squat about semi-auto rifles, but I am a good learner.

my big old brain | me
OK, I am not posting this to stir up the FireFox guys and gals. I've used FF for a while, it's OK but I generally surf with IE8. Two things I've noticed: 1 - sometimes when I visit a web page that requires a login, say my bank or webmail, the "focus" is supposed to put the cursor in either my login or password box. Normally Chase bank is pretty good but the last few days I have to click on the login box. My webmail is often lousy, but on days Chase doesn't put the cursor in the box...
  • Vanity: Fans of Spanish-style guitar check this out

Buddy of mine recently turned me onto a Mexican duo that is just awesome. I've always been a fan of guitar, with a soft spot for Flamenco or Spanish guitar, or whatever you would call it. I'm not sure how to categorize these two musicians, but I love their stuff. Rodrigo y Gabriela, aka Rod and Gabi, they claim not to play Flamenco, sometimes picking with just fingers and sometimes using a guitar pick. A couple of their CDs come with bonus DVDs where they demonstrate their style and attempt to explain it. Fascinating to watch.

OK, how long till somebody posts the little zombie kid who "likes turtles?" That's cool. I have 2 Mississippi Map turtles, one Common Musk turtle, and a new Red-ear Slider. I also have a Box turtle, Buddy lives in my garden. I'm going to see this on Sunday with The Warden, can't wait: http://www.turtle-film.com/
