A newlywed couple died in a helicopter crash late Saturday in Texas — shortly after their wedding ceremony. Will Byler, of Bellville, and Bailee Ackerman, of Orangefield, were killed "as they flew off in the family helicopter" as they left their "fairy tale wedding," a family friend wrote in a Facebook post. The pilot also reportedly died. The wedding took place at a family ranch, the groom's grandfather, William Byler, told KTRK. The crash unfolded about an hour and a half later, the station reported. "Sadly they crashed into the side of a hill about a mile from the family...

Box released the video to let residents know exactly what happened that morning. Box said they had moved to that Abilene home in April, but they had never talked to the Millers until the morning of Sept. 1. The Millers were next-door neighbors. “We had thrown out a twin mattress in a dumpster in our alley a few days before the shooting,” Box said. “You have to have the mattress in the dumpster or they will not haul it away.” On the morning of Sept. 1, Box and Howard were in the backyard when they saw the mattress was on...

MINNEAPOLIS — Authorities in Minneapolis released body camera video Sunday from two police officers in the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old black man, with the footage showing the man shot from behind after a frenetic foot chase and what appeared to be a gun in his hand. Officers Justin Schmidt and Ryan Kelly were responding to a 911 call of a man firing a gun into the air on the city's north side June 23. The video shows them pulling their cruiser up and a man — Blevins — seated on a curb near a woman with a child in...

Puerto Ricans who fled Hurricane Maria’s devastation and have been living in temporary housing on the mainland were granted a reprieve Saturday night when a federal judge temporarily blocked the government from ending an assistance program that was set to expire. U.S. District Judge Leo T. Sorokin of Massachusetts ordered that the Federal Emergency Management Agency cannot end its Transitional Sheltering Assistance (TSA) program until at least midnight Tuesday, meaning those depending on the aid to pay for hotel and motel rooms should be able to stay at least until check-out time Wednesday, according to online court records. The national...

Southern California apartment complexes that doubled as "maternity hotels" for Chinese women who want made-in-America babies were raided early Tuesday, capping an unprecedented federal sting operation, officials said. NBC News was on the scene as Homeland Security agents swept into The Carlyle, a luxury property in Irvine, California, which housed pregnant women and new moms who allegedly forked over $40,000 to $80,000 to give birth in the United States. "I am doing this for the education of the next generation," one of the women told NBC News.
  • Rams trade up to acquire No. 1 pick from Titans

    Around The NFL ^ | April 14th, 2016 | Conor Orr
In a stunning move that shakes up the top of the draft and almost ensures that the Rams will be starting a rookie quarterback in 2016, the Titans have traded the No. 1 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft to Los Angeles, both teams announced Thursday morning. The Rams, previously selecting at No. 15, are the lowest-picking team in NFL history to trade up to the No. 1 spot. The move, however, did not come cheap. It is essentially the Rams' karmic payback for fleecing the Redskins back in 2012 for a treasure trove of picks that led to the...
  • Bubba Watson: 'I have a lot of mental issues'

It’s Masters week, so CBS decided to kick off the most glorious week of the year with a very well-done profile of two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson. Bubba is a bit of a peculiar case for golf fans. The way he plays golf is awe-inspiring and is, in many ways, unprecedented. He hits the ball so far and with so much movement that it often looks like he’s playing a different game than everybody else. But Bubba also has a nasty habit of throwing temper tantrums on the course, lashing-out at fans and his caddie in ways that have earned...

Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush is catching flak on Twitter after posting an image of a gun with just one word to go along with it.... "America." The former Florida governor did not explain why he posted the photo of the gun, which has "Gov. Jeb Bush" engraved on it, and the social media response was swift.
  • Russell Wilson, Seahawks agree to 4-year, $87.5 million contract extension

The Seattle Seahawks and quarterback Russell Wilson have agreed to a contract extension, according to Peter King. The deal is worth $87.5 million over four years, a significant pay upgrade for the Super Bowl-winning quarterback. The deal includes a $31 million signing bonus and roughly $60 million in guaranteed money. Wilson was entering the final year of his four-year, $3 million rookie contract. Wilson's rookie contract did not include a fifth-year option because he wasn't a first-round pick. Because of that, Seattle would have had to use the franchise tag on him in 2016 -- currently projected at more than...

Alex Rocco, the veteran tough-guy character actor with the gravelly voice best known for playing mobster and Las Vegas casino owner Moe Greene in The Godfather, has died. He was 79. Rocco died Saturday, his daughter, Jennifer, announced on Facebook. No other details of his death were immediately available. Rocco, who studied acting with the late Leonard Nimoy, a fellow Boston-area transplant, also was the voice of Roger Meyers Jr., the cigar-smoking chairman of the studio behind "Itchy and Scratchy" on The Simpsons, and he played Arthur Evans, the father of Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character, on the stylish Starz series...
  • Did the NFL punish ESPN with bad 'Monday Night Football' games?

It was reported that ESPN’s lackluster upcoming slate of Monday Night games was believed to be retribution for Bill Simmons and Olbermann’s criticism of the league and Goodell. To that end, we’re hearing there are some ESPN folks who think the league denied a request for a Monday Night Football matchup featuring the Cowboys against a specific opponent due to Simmons and Olbermann’s vocal criticism this past year. ESPN does have one Cowboys game on this year’s schedule but comes late in the season and on the road versus a Redskins team that went 4-12 last season.

ELSMERE, Ky. —Officer Jesse Kidder has only been on the New Richmond police force for a year, but he did two tours of duty in Iraq as a Marine and he's a Purple Heart recipient. Still, he said he's never been confronted the way he was on Thursday. "Law enforcement officers all across the nation have to deal with split-second decisions that mean life or death. I wanted to be absolutely sure before I used deadly force," said Kidder. It's easier said than done, and that has never been clearer than through the lens of Kidder's body camera, when the...
  • Bubba Watson most disliked player by his PGA peers?

An ESPN.com poll surveyed 103 tour pros (21 major champions) and asked them a variety of serious and lighthearted questions. One of the questions asked golfers which of their peers they would be least likely to assist in the event that a fight broke out in the parking lot. Bubba’s name showed up the most. There are plenty of people who like Watson because of his unorthodox style of play and seemingly great sense of humor (remember those hilarious “Golf Boys” videos?). However, Bubba rubbed some people the wrong way when he basically threw a hissy fit last year because...
  • Everyone is furious about this photo of kids climbing on a Vietnam memorial

A photographer named Matthew Munson took several photos during a recent visit to Washington, D.C., and one in particular is stirring up conversation about American history, parenting, and respect. Munson shared his photos to Facebook, and there's some standard DC fare—that obelisk called the Washington Monument, some military memorials. But one of Munson's memorial photos speaks volumes without making a sound. It's an image of the Vietnam Women's Memorial, which serves to honor the women who served during the U.S. war with Vietnam, from 1955 to 1975. Atop this statue is a young girl using it like playground equipment. On...

It started with a facebook post on December 31, 2014 from Seattle Seahawks superfan Tim "Seahulk" Froemke apologizing for his absence at the St. Louis Rams game. For those who do not know, Froemke is a long-time Seahawks fan who is regularly shown on Seahawks broadcasts and appeared in the Richard Sherman Campbell's Soup commercial. It seems as if the cost of being a Seahawks fan has finally added up to be too much for Froemke though. From his facebook page: "Hello to all My seahulk fans.sorry I wasn't at last game. I'm honestly to broke to go to games...
  • Seahawks trade WR Harvin after he likely wore out his welcome

The only thing speedier than Percy Harvin in uniform is how fast the wide receiver wore out his welcome in Seattle. Roughly 19 months after his ballyhooed arrival, the Seahawks had enough. As first reported by FOX Sports NFL Insider Jay Glazer, Harvin was traded Friday afternoon to the New York Jets for a conditional draft choice. Few — if any — players in league history were ditched by a franchise so quickly after such a large investment was made. The Seahawks sent multiple picks to Minnesota — including a first-rounder — for Harvin in March 2013 and then signed...
