President Barack Obama and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal have much in common. While Obama is a liberal Democrat and Jindal is a Republican, both of these men are relatively young and supposedly intelligent. They are minorities who graduated from Ivy League schools and spent most of their careers in government.

In the brave new world of Barack Obama, the media breathlessly report all of the economic data with a positive spin. On Friday, as the unemployment rate increased for the second straight month, the liberal media was telling us this was good news. Is a higher unemployment rate of 7.9 percent really good news? According to the Associated Press, it was an “upbeat” report. Yet, this unemployment figure is high by historical standards and is higher than the rate at the start of the Obama administration.

Today, approximately 400,000 pro-life activists are gathering in Washington D.C. to protest the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, which legalized abortion throughout the nation. The march is usually held on January 22, but was moved to January 25 because of the presidential inauguration. In contrast, the pro-abortion rallies assembled by the National Organization of Women always attract a much smaller crowd.

The Obama administration will let no political opportunity go to waste. Tomorrow, the President will unveil his gun control agenda surrounded by children who wrote him letters in the aftermath of the Newtown tragedy. Not surprisingly, children from around the country have been frightened by the mass murder at Sandy Hook elementary. They have been influenced by the non-stop media coverage of the horrible incident and are worried about safety in their own schools.

The nagging nanny of New York, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, is at it again, engaging in his favorite activity, telling his citizens what they can consume. This time, the Mayor is targeting prescription painkillers in the city’s emergency rooms. By mayoral edict, he will reduce the supply of certain pain medication in the emergency rooms owned by the city.

After House Speaker John Boehner was unable to muster enough support for his “Plan B” proposal, the Congress has adjourned for the holidays. At this point, Republicans should stay home until the new Congress convenes in 2013. A deal like “Plan B” that raises taxes on those making over $1 million per year and offers limited spending cuts over 10 years will do nothing to solve our underlying fiscal problems.

In the wake of a tragedy, there is always a call from some politicians to “do something.” Our country is witnessing the same sort of reaction to the Newtown, Connecticut school massacre. Ever since the murder of 27 people on Friday by 20 year old Adam Lanza, liberals across the country have been calling for more gun control. It is despicable that liberals like Michael Moore and New York Senator Chuck Schumer are trying to take political advantage from a true tragedy. In fact, Ms. Watson said it was the President’s obligation to help Detroit because “our people in an overwhelming way” voted for him, so “there ought to be a quid pro quo.” Because 75% of Wayne County voters supported Obama, Watson says that Detroit leaders should bring home “some bacon” as they did during the Jimmy Carter administration. Maybe Ms. Watson does not realize that vote buying is illegal. Her attitude is typical of many Obama supporters who want something such as a check, a phone, a job or in this case “some bacon” from the federal government.

Instead of grieving for the victim and her family, Costas decided to impose his liberal political views on millions of viewers who tuned in to watch football. The NFL is the most popular professional sports league in the country. Americans enjoy watching the action, following their favorite teams and escaping from the problems they face in their everyday lives. Americans who watch Sunday Night Football don’t tune in to hear sports anchors editorialize about gun control.

Nonetheless, many of the President’s most ardent supporters are so delusional that they are ready to ascribe supernatural powers to him. For example, entertainer Jamie Foxx used his role at the Soul Train Awards to praise President Obama as “our Lord and Savior.” He implored the crowd to show their support for the President by standing up for him. Foxx’s comments were included in a 30 second spot by BET to promote the awards broadcast and draw viewers to the program. Obviously, BET found Foxx’s comments to be both provocative and worthy of publicity.

This self-promoting, narcissistic presidential aspirant did not even let the dust settle from the 2012 presidential campaign before he was hurling insults at Governor Romney. In the immediate aftermath of the election, Jindal made headlines for referring to the Romney campaign as “stupid.” He made a very public point of saying that he rejected Romney’s analysis of the election that Obama won by giving large “gifts” to certain minority groups. He called the remarks “insulting” and said that the Republican Party cannot win by demonizing people.

Can the GOP win another Presidential election after its candidate Mitt Romney lost against President Obama? While that was not the question raised by a recent poll and a discussion of that poll by a well-respected pollster, the issue can reasonably be asked by those reviewing the numbers.

In their post-election analysis, many of these same “experts” are giving poisonous advice to a party in serious trouble. They are recommending the party move in the direction of Democrats on issues such as illegal immigration, gay marriage, drug use, taxes, abortion to name a few. Following such advice would be the death knell of the Republican Party.

The network of the Republican Party and the conservative movement suffered a major embarrassment on election night. For weeks prior to the election, Fox News has been giving valuable air time to pollsters and pundits who predicted a Romney “landslide.” These projections were in stark contrast to reputable poll results that were used in other media outlets; however, Fox News viewers were led to believe that the other polls were “skewed” against Mitt Romney. It turns out Fox News was skewed toward self-promoting “experts” who were universally wrong about their predictions.

According to one Tea Party leader, the reason for Mitt Romney’s loss to President Barack Obama is that he was not conservative enough and was “weak-kneed” and a throwback to Bob Dole and John McCain. The President Bush’s were not named, however. In a press statement, entitled “Tea Party Vows "No Retreat" and a subtitle “Promise to search out candidates with clear conservative records; no more Dole-McCain-Romney nominees”, the group leaders said the following:

After four years of the Obama administration the American economy continues to falter, the world is more dangerous than it was four years ago despite the death of Osama bin Laden, and our national debt is threatening our entire economic existence. Today the federal government spends eleven dollars for every seven dollars it collects. Our national debt has soared past $16 trillion.

Throughout the world, wars are raging, dictatorships are suppressing individual freedoms, millions of people are hungry and too many are dying due to inadequate medical care. With so many worldwide problems to address, officials from the United Nations (U.N.) should be focused on ways to help people living under tyrannical rule or suffering from impoverished conditions.
