A year ago I was standing in line at a grocery store and watched an attractive young lady with one child buy $170.00 worth of groceries. During her EBT transaction her I-Phone went off and she asked if I minded if she went back and got an item she forgot. No problem. She forgot the ice cream, four quarts of it. She cashed out and got another call so she stood in the front of the store talking.

I made my purchase of some donuts to take to work, it being Sunday and I thought it would be nice to have something to munch on. Just on a hunch I casually walked out to my ten year old pick up and watched the young lady hop in her new Mustang with the drive out tag still on it. That was my epiphany. Rather than go in and work all day Sunday, as is my mode during the winter, I got in my truck and took a ride and thought about the past thirty years of being in business and watching my wife and kids grow up and do without. I also reflected on the 90 hours weeks and employees whose faces reflected only the weariness and sadness of this country and what it has become.

Since then I have cut my hours down, let most of my employees hit the road and in general, and unintentionally, quit feeding the beast.

The beast will soon be coming for your IRA and 401k and if you have a business begin the long goodbye.

I always look at them and feel nothing but pity for them. They are stuck, for the most part, in lives that are so meaningless that is defies description. I got to live through the 50’s, and 60’s and the 80’s when the possibility of a future seemed quite possible. Those that ignore me, and I’m 61, are the ones that are invisible to me. They are the generation that will envy the dead. They are nothing but Zombies with Smartphones. As for this particular Doonesbury, it was spot on.

Chris Christie is a true treasure to this country. His ass is so big it blocks out at least 25% of all the harmful UV rays from the sun. He is however, a Democrat, a great big Blue Dog Democrat. So just say it, let it go and let him go. He doesn’t represent me or my party in any shape, matter or form.

You can get this excrement free at MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC and several other networks for free. Why pay to be threatened by physical harm for exercising your right to support the political candidate of your choice?

I grew up there and vist frequently. It is a great town and I can’t recommend it highly enough. You will suffer culture shock if you are coming from the North because in Huntsville people actually speak to each other in friendly tones and like each other’s company. It is about as cuturally diverse as you can get but still retains a Southern feel to it, especially once you enter the countryside. It takes about six months to get used to it, then you wonder why more people don’t know about it. Again, pack up never look back.

There are devices we install for just these occurences. When the car’s interior gets to a preset temperature the windows roll down and there is (in some cases) a forced air fan that comes on and cools the interior enough for the dog to survive.

Additonally, there are outputs to connect to alerting devices, (pagers, cell phones, car horn)to alert the handler that there is a problem. Net result; a happier outcome than these stories.

If your department cannot afford such devices, you cannot afford to risk the life of a dog. Especially one that is your partner and could and would take a bullet for you.

I think devices such as this should be required in any vehicle that transports children under the age of 10. Every year we will hear about a child left in a van or bus that has died from the heat.
