Why doesn’t one of the Republican state senators change parties temporarily to Democrat thereby allowing the bill to pass. He could even vote against it.

I know I’ll get zapped for this but anyway... I once read a book by Dr. Erich Neuman (sp?) called “Depth Psychology and the New Ethic”. He was a student of Jung and put forth a theory that, succinctly, purports that there are no victims only volunteers. In this case of an attack on a member of Congress, his theory would state this. Politicians in general and members of Congress in particular in our present day society are not looked upon favorably (see the polls that show them in the teens). The collective subconscious (see Jung again) is therefore not holding any of these folks in the House or the Senate in any kind of esteem. They have put themselves in this position by the actions of a good many of their members (sex scandals, bribes, consorting with lobbyist, etc.) In this atmosphere of non-approval by the collective, it is very likely that some individuals who have severe mental problems will seek out targets of opportunity based on how the targets themselves have shown up on the horizon. This is not to say that the individual target in this case is in anyway responsible but that she happened to be a member of a class that have made themselves into magnets for nutcases. The nutcases pick these folks because they are on the skyline and, since everybody (the collective) holds the targets as flawed individuals, it seems ok to target them.

OK, go ahead and flame me. I’ve made myself a target 8}.

I recently took the California Zephyr from S.F. to Chicago. Just felt like it. It was a wonderful 3 day ride. The food in the dining car was good. The company at table was interesting. And I thoroughly enjoyed it. Price with sleeping car was about $600. Much more than flying but I just wanted to do it. One thing that struck me was just how big this country is. It makes midgets out of those idiots in Washington. It’s actually almost too big to screw up, no matter how hard they try. We should be concerned about the present situation but never afraid. We outnumber them millions to one.

You can thank Billy-boy Clinton and his administration for this development. Much of our technology was compromised during the time he was chasing quiff around the Oval Office. I went on a tour of China two years ago (I speak Mandarin thanks to the DLI at Monterey) and everyone I talked to just thought he was the best guy ever. They just loved Bill from Beijing to XiAn to Shanghai. Now I see why.

If this suit goes forward, there should be a demand for suits against any local government which declares itself a “sanctuary” based on the same usurping of federal responsibility for immigration matters.

If most of the racist “people of color” could only realize how seldom “white” people even think about them they would be amazed. These race baiters are victims of their own projections. Most of the white population of the U.S. could, at most, be accused of apathy towards other races rather than any hatred. We just don’t give a damn what color you are or why you seem to fail at life. It is that which sets the victimhood seething in these people.

I’m hearing a lot on the news about people opening up their mail and finding increases in their health insurance bills. Has there been any research done or any indications that the White House has made any kind of deal with the health insurance companies to raise the rates at this time in order to use the rate raises as propaganda for passing the Unhealthy Bill? It would make perfect sense, if the bill is passed and everyone is forced to have insurance who would benefit from the increased amount of customers? Why the health insurance companies, duh!!! It makes perfect sense that a behind closed doors meeting between O and the insurance companies would come up with this kind of “Chicago politics” style solution to getting his bill passed.

So what he is saying is that he wants a totalitarian government to take charge of every aspect of our lives. That we should all pull together for the collective good. That individual freedoms are subject to curtailment based on the “greatest good for the greatest number”. This guy is definitely a communist. He wasn’t even around during WWII. I was and as a child I remember how happy everyone was when it was over so that we could regain the freedoms and liberty we had forgone temporarily for the prosecution of the war.

There is, however, a law of nature which is survival of the fittest. Societies rise and fall based on their ability to remain healthy and thrive. We use the amount of energy we use because we are thriving. By starving ourselves for the benefit of other societies which haven’t learned to thrive on their own, we weaken our society so that others may grow stronger. Unfortunately, as they grow stronger they will not hesitate to walk over the ailing body of older societies who were stupid enough to forgo their own growth for the benefit of others. Charity is wonderful as an individual virtue, it is the death knell for societies.

My mom worked as a telephone operator here in S.F. in the early 1950’s and was elected vice-president of the CWA for the 5 western states. She continued her daily job at the same time as representing the union. I remember going with her to the union offices at night and running the addressograph machine making envelopes for mailings when I was 8 or 9. Later, in 1975 or so, I ran into the guy who had her job as union VP in a local watering hole around 2:00 in the afternoon. His only job was being a “union official”. The only thing he knew about communications was how to get union dues to pass out to his political cronies and play the big shot. My mom was truly concerned about representing her fellow workers and making sure that they were treated with fairness because she remained one of them. Today’s “union officials” are a dangerous joke costing America’s workers billions. It should be a requirement for all union officials to be elected from the rank and file of the workers whom they would represent and that they maintain their jobs while serving in office.

Actually, from his point of view, the word retard as applied to his opponents the GOP is exactly correct. The dictionary definition is”to make slow; delay the development or progress of (an action, process, etc.); hinder or impede.” He and O are very upset that their plans for reforming the country on socialist terms are being “hindered” by the GOP and the right.

Took my 11 year old grandson to see this one. Had to explain to him that in my day the humans were the heroes and the aliens were the bad guys. Also, that because belief in God in this post-modern era has been lost, people keep trying to make other things (like nature) god so that they will have something to believe in. Think I got through to him.

When I was going through security at Amsterdam airport this last July, I was complaining to the officer there that all of this “take off your shoes” and “open up the computer” stuff was just garbage. If someone really wanted to get something passed them and was determined, the checks they were doing would be worthless. He agreed with me and said that “millions of dollars worth of drugs passed through that airport daily. So much for how good these methods are. All they have succeded in doing is making trips more difficult for regular passengers.

This use of the media to promote liberal causes has been going on for decades. Paul Muni in “I was a Fugitive from the Chaingang” started things off by depicting a wrongly convicted man who escapes captivity and makes a “good” life for himself, only to be dragged back for punishment came out in the ‘30s. Follow that up with the ‘40s “Knock on any Door” with Humphrey Bogart where society is blamed for juvenile delinquency. It is the necessity of liberals to blame anyone but the perpetrator for crimes done (except of course when the perpetrator is a member of the power elite, then he is evil incarnate) that persists today in blaming man for climate change, government for wars against aggressors, etc.
