Michael Lewis and the Tuohy family refuse to acknowledge what’s so clear to Black folks — that white people used Oher for their own benefit. The most frustrating thing about racism isn’t that it still exists, it’s that so many white people refuse to undeniably admit when it happens. Because if your first instinct was to think that Michael Oher was lying or making something out of nothing, you’re the reason why racism is still thriving. “What we’re watching is a change of behavior,” Michael Lewis, author of The Blind Side, told The Guardian. “This is what happens to football...

Former Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers player Michael Oher has criticized the accuracy of the 2009 movie 'The Blind Side' which is based on his life before he entered the NFL. Oher was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2009, where he would later win a Super Bowl, before going on to play for the Tennessee Titans and the Carolina Panthers. Oher was taken in by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, which is the key premise of the movie. However, it emerged on Aug. 14 that Oher had filed a petition in court in Shelby County, Tennessee, alleging that the...

It's the accusation that no one saw coming. On Monday, Aug. 14, Michael Oher -- the former NFL star who inspired the Oscar-nominated film The Blind Side -- filed legal documents in Tennessee court requesting it terminate a conservatorship after alleging Leigh Anne Tuohy and Sean Tuohy lied about adopting him and tricked him into making them his conservators shortly after he turned 18. Oher played eight seasons in the NFL and reportedly earn nearly $40 million over his illustrious career...... In documents obtained by ET, the 37-year-old claims the Tuohys tricked him into making them his conservators less than...

Sean Tuohy, Jr. whose family was the subject of the hit film "The Blind Side," is responding... ...Tuohy said Oher sent messages to family group texts in 2020 and 2021 with statements such as "'If you guys give me this much, then I won’t go public..." ...Sean Tuohy, Sr. also responded Monday...that the family contacted lawyers at the time "who had told us that we couldn’t adopt over the age of 18," and "The only thing we could do was to have a conservatorship." The elder Tuohy also said that everyone "got an equal share, including Michael" in the profits...

Michael Oher, the former NFL offensive lineman and inspiration for the 2009 box office success "The Blind Side," told a Tennessee judge on Monday that contrary to the film version of his life he was never adopted by the Tuohy family, and alleged that the family earned millions from the story. Oher, now 37, has petitioned a Shelby County judge to revoke the conservatorship from the Tuohys, arguing that he's old enough to handle his own business affairs. The Tuohys "have falsely and publicly represented themselves as the adoptive parents of Michael," the petition claims. In "The Blind Side," Lee...

On Super Bowl Sunday, proud adoptive mom Leigh Anne Tuohy will watch her son play football for the second time in the biggest American sports game of the year. Tuohy’s son Michael Oher is the offensive lineman for the Carolina Panthers and formerly the Baltimore Ravens, who he helped to achieve victory in the 2013 Super Bowl. Oher’s life had a troubled beginning. When Oher was born, his mother was addicted to drugs and his father was in prison. OK, I don't buy a TON of DVDs when they are released, but I have bought my share of them. I usually buy them the week they are released because they're usually on sale. I've bought lots of the highly-anticipated films like The Dark Knight, Harry Potter etc and I have NEVER seen a DVD sold out. If this is an indication of the popularity of The Blind Side, I think that is pretty cool and bodes well for future movies.......if Hollywood actually cares about what people want to see.

Millions in America watched the Academy Awards in record numbers but one of the biggest wins of the night had to have been the 45-year-old actress Sandra Bullock who won Best Actress for her winning colorblind portrayal of a real-life story. Ms. Bullock played Leigh Anne Tuohy who demonstrated great moral character in helping Michael Oher’s on-screen character when he was homeless as well as educationally rudderless. This was truly an example of Christian love. Others in America were not so kind in their acceptance of Sandra Bullock in this role. Some called it patronizing and contrived to think that...

If there’s anything Hollywood appreciates less, or fears more, than the inexorable rise of Sarah Palin, it’s the success of the movie The Blind Side. Heading into the Oscars, Avatar may be the techno-wow box-office behemoth, The Hurt Locker the critically acclaimed scrapper, but it’s The Blind Side that has truly blindsided the film industry. To the head-scratching consternation of West Coast movie execs, God-fearing “red state” Americans in their millions have been storming cinemas to see it. The film cost just $35m, has taken nearly $250m since the end of November and is a shock smash hit. Based on...

I haven’t seen “The Blind Side” yet, so I won’t say anything about the quality of the film. But based on the trailer and the true story, my wife and I are as excited about this as any film in a long time. It tells the true story of the adoption of Michael Oher by the Tuohy family in Tennessee and how they helped him go from homeless teenager to professional football star....We’re especially excited because we’re big adoption advocates, currently in the middle of our first of many planned adoptions. Also, the Tuohys happen to be conservative Christians like...

Ah, for the simplicity of less civil times. Ah, for the Bootsie play.

Actually, the Bootsie was only one name for it. It was also known, depending on the team you were playing for, as the Dead Dog, 99-Suicide, Socko, Snakebite, The Law, 48-Undertaker and Say Goodbye to the Wife and Kids, according to one of its practitioners. What it amounted to was this: The offense snapped the ball — and then 10 guys knocked the snot out of the opposing player who had strayed too far over the line.
