John Lott is the most admired and the most vilified of researchers on the effects of laws that restrict gun ownership and being armed in public, and the effects of the reform of laws that restrict gun ownership and bearing arms in public. His research is well accepted among his peers, and vilified by those who disagree with his results. John had to learn the hard way that honest science about guns and gun laws is not welcome in most of academia.Unfortunately, academia has, in large part, been taken over by people who are ignorant of guns and gun legislation,...

Another documented bear spray failure. In this case the victim chose to use bear spray instead of the pistol he had with him. It is an interesting contrast with Kim Woodman, who was also charged by a sow grizzly with cubs. Kim had a 10 mm pistol, a Glock model 20. He stopped the charging grizzly at almost contact distance. Kim only had 30 yards to react. Todd says the grizzly charged him from 80 yards off. Link to video From Todd's facebook post: I yelled a number of times so she knew I was human and would hopefully...

A small gun control organization, using the Pulse nightclub mass killing as a call to action, is making the long-shot attempt at bringing a ban on some semi-automatic firearms and their magazines to Florida. Terming themselves the Florida Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence, they emerged from the state’s League of Women Voters Gun Safety Committee. They have two stated legislative goals: bring universal background checks and a statewide ban on “all semiautomatic assault weapons and large-capacity feeding devices” to Florida. “We’re horrified by the type of weapon that was used at Pulse,” says Patricia Brigham, head of the group,...

Jacob Sullum|Oct. 5, 2016 8:45 am In a quintuple victory for Second Amendment rights, a federal judge last week overturned a ban on carrying handguns in public, a ban on so-called assault weapons, caliber restrictions for long guns, a $1,000 tax on handguns, and a requirement that all guns be registered with the government. "The...

One of the emails contained in the October 7 Wikileaks email release shows Grunwald Communications asking Hillary Clinton’s press secretary about the candidate’s support for “a 25 percent tax on gun sales.” The email is dated October 4, 2015 and was sent from Mandy Grunwald to Brian Fallon. In it, Grunwald asked about Clinton’s reported vacillation on gun control in the 2008 campaign and also about the tax. She said, “I also saw something about her supporting a 25% tax on gun sales back in 1993.” ABC News reports that Clinton was “unequivocal” in her support for such a tax...

The law of averages predicts that at some time in the future, perhaps as soon as 2017, the Democratic Party will once again control the White House and majorities in both houses of Congress. When that happens, the next Democratic president -- be it Hillary Clinton or someone else -- will sign into law a sweeping, foreign-style gun ban. The legislation has already been written. H.R. 4269 would enact a national, permanent ban on the manufacture and sale of so-called “assault weapons” and all firearm magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds. The bill, introduced last December, already has149...

Well boys this machine gun shooting lady has us out gunned. This handy-dandy FAL 7.62×51 NATO is capable of firing full-auto, and it looks like a lot of fun, too. We see our shooter set down the gun with a grin, and it looks like she’d be more than happy to pick it up again any time. No word on how the target fared, but if it’s not turned into a block of swiss by now, it’s been seriously menaced. Guessing by that ecstatic grin, though, there’s probably not much left to whatever she was shooting at. Excellent shooting! If...

Pull!, A bright orange disc flies out of the trap house at a pace only slightly slower than the speed of light. You were hoping for a lob, a gimme, or a straightaway that you could transform into orange powder and boost your conï¬dence a little, but you donÂ’t get any of those. This nightmare scenario is played out time and again on trap shooting ranges all over the country, and sometimes we reluctantly ï¬nd ourselves in the starring role. You have to get a good shotgun, one that is built for the task; a shotgun designed to make it...

During the October 9 presidential debate Donald Trump said he will nominate Supreme Court justices in the mold of the late Antonin Scalia in order to save the Second Amendment from “people like Hillary Clinton.” Trump said: I am looking to appoint judges very much in the mold of Justice Scalia. …People that will respect the constitution of the United States. And I think that this is so important–also, the Second Amendment which is totally under siege by people like Hillary Clinton. The chain of late-night hash brown and egg joints has long held a “no guns” policy but that hasn’t stopped a Georgia location from being repeatedly robbed at gunpoint. Headquartered in Norcross, Georgia, the breakfast chain has some 2,100 locations in 25 states, primarily in the South, but robbers have targeted a restaurant in the Newnan area twice in the last month. As reported by The Newnan-Times Herald, the McCollum-Sharpsburg location in Coweta County was targeted by two armed men around 11:20 p.m. Sunday night. While no customers were in the cafe, Troy Foles with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office...

At this Sunday’s town-hall style presidential debate the public is able to vote for their favorite questions. The ABC News and CNN moderators plan on using the 30 questions that receive the most votes. Largely because of efforts by gun control organizations, the current top two questions are both on gun control. The first is, “Would you support requiring criminal background checks for all gun sales?” and the second is, "How will you ensure the 2nd amendment is protected?” By Sunday morning at this writing, those questions had received 73,844 and 64,041 votes, respectively, well ahead of the third-place question...

The long awaited October surprise Wikileaks dump finally took place at 6pm Friday. The dump included hundreds of emails between Clinton campaign higher-ups and texts of Hillary Clinton’s speeches to Wall Street big-money financial institutions, the same ones she rails against on the campaign trail. One email string that should concern every Second Amendment supporter in the country emerged from the document dump. As reported by Breitbart.com, one email generated by Clinton campaign press secretary Brian Fallon confirmed that, if elected, Hillary Clinton would use Executive Orders to go far beyond what President Obama has done to neuter the Second...

The young woman arrived home to find a footprint still visible on her front door. Her South Shore apartment had been broken into, and the small safe she kept under her bed was missing, along with the black .40-caliber Glock handgun she kept inside. Over the next year, that Glock would fire 42 bullets, leaving shell casings scattered on walkways, porches and side streets. In the hands of a street gang, the gun was used in at least five separate shootings that left two dead and five others wounded, police say. Officers found the weapon — loaded with 21 rounds...
