Praying of the Rosary Is NOT Bible-Based Teaching

Praying The Rosary Is Not Biblical, And Is A Form Of Idolatry

Just last Sunday, a local newspaper paper released an article teaching that the praying of the Holy Rosary is Bible-based. In the first two paragraphs, the writer admittedly says that there is no passage in the Bible teaching nor mentioned about the praying of Rosary.

However, in the following paragraphs, the writer justified the praying of the Rosary basing it on the repetition of historical events of some Bible characters (like Gideon as he mentioned) about Israel’s history.

I don’t know if the writer of this article did some research about the origin of rosary and how it was deeply encouraged for Roman Catholics.

Praying of Rosary was encouraged when Lucia Dos Santos and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto cIs Praying the Rosary Biblical?laimed to have an apparation from an angel teaching them to pray in the spring of 1916. They were asked to pray repeatedly by the angel who appeared to them. This is why the Catholics were convinced that they have to pray repeatedly.

The flaw however in the story was that, the angel gave two sets of completely different prayers. The angel appeared to the three children three times.

Then after a year, 1917, it was said that Our Lady of Rosary had an apparitions for 7 times. In her second apparition the Our Lady said:

I wish you to come here the 13th of next month; that you say the Rosary every day, and that you learn to read. In succeding months I will tell you what else I want.” “I would like to ask you to bring us to Heaven“, said Lucy. “Yes, Giacinta and Francis will be among the few, but you must stay here for a long time. Jesus wants to help Himself of you to make Me known and loved. God wishes you to remain in the world for some time because He wants to use you to establish in the world a devotion to my Immaculate Heart. I promise salvation to those who embrace it, and their souls will be loved by God as flowers placed by myself to adorn His throne.” Lucy asked: “Will I stay here alone”?, “Don’t be discouraged , I will not abandon you ever. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and through it will conduct you to God.”

Now here are the flaws of this apparition. First, the Our Lady is telling the children to teach the people to make her known and be loved. Note that the apparition was initiated not by Jesus, nor an angel, but the very person who wants to be made known. It is like, someone came to you and asked you using the name of your friend to introduce her to other people that you know.

The second flaw, Our Lady promises salvation to those who embrace this command. A completely heretical claim, and totally in contrast to what the Bible is saying. The Bible is very clear in saying that “…whosoever believes in Him (Jesus) will not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).” Only God can give salvation. This is the Biblical truth that cannot be altered, deducted nor added.

Third flaw, Our Lady claims that her immaculate heart will be our refuge and through it will conduct you to God. This is another contradiction to what the Bible is saying. “Come to me all you labor and are heavily burdened and I will give you rest (Matt.11:28)”, “I am the way the truth and the life, NO ONE comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6)”.

The truth is, there is only one mediator between God and man, it is only Jesus Christ (Hebrews chapters 6,7,8,9, and 10)

This is the statement coming from the third apparition:

In october I will tell you who I am, that which I want, and I will do a miracle that all can see and believe. Sacrifice yourselves for sinners, and say often this prayer, especially during any sacrifice: “O my Jesus, I offer this for love of Thee, for the conversion of poor sinners, and in reparation for all the sins commited against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The flaw of the third apparition is the claiming of honor which belongs to Jesus Christ, and the idea of co-equality with Jesus. Though she did not claim co-equality, but the fact of showing that people committed sins against her proposes the idea of deity that people needs to be so sorry for not recognizing her. The Bible tells us that there are three persona where we committed sins, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. And now, here comes the Mary, an addition to the Holy Trinity.

You have seen Hell, where the souls of poor sinners go. To save future souls God wishes to establish in the world the devotion to My Immaculate Heart. If people do what I tell you, many souls will be saved.” Then She said:” If my requests are granted, Russia will be converted and there will be peace. If not, she will scatter her errors throughout the world, provoking wars and persecution of the Church. The good will be martyed, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, and various nations will be destroyed…But in the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, Russia will be converted, and a certain period of peace will be granted to the world“. “Do you want to learn a prayer?” the vision asked, “Yes we do!” the children responded. “When you recite the Rosary, say at the end of each decade: Oh My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Your Mercy.

Now let’s look at this additional quotations from the third apparition. This is more like “Our Lady” centered command rather than “Jesus” centered command. Russia will be consecreted to Our Lady of Rosary than instead of Jesus. Notice the number of recitation of the Rosary. At the end of each decade (10), there is only one calling for Jesus help.

This is quoted from the last (6th) apparition

I am the Lady of the Rosary, I desire here a chapel in my honor to be built, that people continue to recite the Rosary every day. Will the war finish. The war is going to end, and the soldiers will soon return to their homes.” Then Lucy asked: “may I ask you for cures and conversions, will you grant them?”. “Some yes, others no. It is necessary that they ask pardon for their sins, that they don’t offend God our Lord, and that he is already too much offended.” “Do you Want anything else from me?” Lucy asked. “I do not want anything more.

The flaw of the 6th apparition is that the Lady of the Rosary is asking for a chapel in “HER” honor, and not Jesus’ nor the Father’s honor. We have to note that taking glory which supposed to be for God is a serious sin, this is idolatry.

The apparition is completely directing people in a wrong path. It is completely in contradiction with what the Bible is saying. The Bible warn us about these kinds of apparitions in Galatians 1:8 “But even though we (referring to Paul and his companions) or an angel from heaven, which should preach to you any gospel other than that which we preached to you, let him be cursed.” This is a strong warning that we should be careful in believing apparitions especially if it gives another teachings that what the Bible already have taught us.

Just some additional observations concerning the apparition of Our Lady of Rosary. Our Lady appeared “6” times. In Hebrew culture (the Israelite culture), 6 is the imperfect number. A number usually associated with evil things. Thus, the number of the Beast in the Book of Revelations tells us that it is 666.

Another observation is the dates of the apparition. The apparition dates are significantly on the 13th of every month of that year. Even until, Roman Catholics believe that 13th is always associated with evil things like Friday the 13t h bad luck and not placing 13th floor on buildings. Not to mention all the horror movies that happens on Friday the 13th.

Now let me ask you, do you really believe that these apparitions comes from God? These apparition and commands are completely in contrast to what the Bible teaches us. They are “Our Lady of Rosary” centered rather than “God” centered. The apparitions promotes glory and honor for “Our Lady of Rosary” rather than the glory of God. And finally, even culture related things are in contradiction to the apparitions. Not to mention its lack of Apostolicity and Biblical support.

The praying of Rosary is another heretical belief of the Roman Catholic church to which Catholics are willing fight for.

So God, who cannot lie, says He knows of no other God beside Him, but it's a lie.

Genesis 3:5
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

That's not what God is saying at all. God is a God of order. He is saying worship only our Heavenly Father in the name of His Son. The complete organization of heaven has not been revealed. Only what we need to know during this probationary period or test of mortal life.

God does not need worship. Worship is there to promote humility, among other positive attributes, in us.

You claim that I limit my knowledge of God by not realizing that He is lying to me in the bible.

I made no such claim in any way.

You DO limit your knowledge of God by refusing to believe that God has the power to reveal more of His words to us. The power to call prophets. You deny these things.

Rev 11 is proof that God calls prophets in the last days.

Paul prophesied that false religions would have a form of Godliness. Which means it's not real. And they deny the power of God.

I believe that God's power is limitless. That He has many things left to reveal to man. I believe in personal revelation. I believe there are much much more scripture to be given. Prophets to be called and miracles to be shown. I don't limit God's power at all. So Paul wasn't talking about me or my Church.

However, you believe that God doesn't call prophets. You won't accept any new scripture, etc... thus in reality, limiting God's power in relation to what He can do in your life.

BTW, God has never stated that He would limit His words. That's a product of the great apostasy.

You have used an awful lot of words to say that when God says He is the only God, that He is lying. Yet you are saying that He is with holding the truth from us. God whose son IS THE TRUTH, doesn’t tell us the truth. He tells the truth to Joe Smith while Joe is using the tools of paganism, like magic glasses looking into a hat.

[Syncro]Yes, true for Christians. Not for Mormons. Joseph Smith REJECTED all of Christianity as he was creating the religion of the LDS.

No, God is the Father of all man.

Would "Christians" be the ones baptizing babies or the ones that refuse to baptize babies? Because they both can't be right.

The "god" of this world is satan, affectionately called "Heavenly Father" by Mormons.

You are gravely mistaken. My Heavenly Father is the Father if Jesus Christ.

Remember he separated Mormonism from Christianity (my, the things he said about Christians was horrible, he HATED them) when he started the cult and it remains that way to this day.

Jesus, Paul, Amos, and John separated the Latter-day Saints from modern Christianity as well.

"HATED"? I see no hate in his words. Did Paul hate when he gave his prophetic warnings? Did Jesus?

If you want to dwell with God and be a brother of Christians instead of Lucifer, let me know. It's real easy. A free gift that costs you everything. But promises you eternal life with God.

In reality, you have nothing. Your churches have had no direct communication from God in 2000 years. You limit God's words to a few books. You have no real explanation for what 90% of the words of God even mean.

Even to this day, your churches argue over the simplest things like infant baptism.

Modern "Christianity" has no clue about Rev 11. They are bumbling along hoping it all comes out in the wash.

You know a huge difference between your churches and the LDS Church is? We take the warnings in the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price very seriously. We point those warnings back at ourselves and ask, "Could this be me?"

Modern "Christianity" takes just the warnings in the Bible, and points them at everyone but themselves. It's always the other guy who's going to hell.

"let me know."

Let you know? And what will you do? Tell me to give up all the knowledge God has given me? Teach me that God doesn't talk to man? Limit my scripture to a few books that you approve of? Tell me to ignore the warnings in the Bible? Blind me to the history of how your churches came into being? How can that possibly prepare me to meet God?

Nehemiah 7:
64 These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.

65 And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.

The Urim and Thummim were seer stones given to the prophet by God as a tool to help man. As versus 64-65 show above, they couldn't find the information they were looking for until they used the Urim and Thummim.

God doesn't lie. But God doesn't reveal everything to man either. It's up to God how much information He gives us. But He always works through a prophet. That's been the pattern since Adam.

Maybe Joseph used a hat to cut down the glare in the Urim and Thummim. I don't know and I don't care. What difference does it make?

Lds reference Jesus a fair amount as "elder brother." Yet in their mind, Satan is "Elder Brother," too!

ALL: As so often the case with Colofornian's commentaries, they're always lacking in complete truth.

Yet in their mind, Satan is "Elder Brother," too!

Notice the mind reading. I've never heard anyone say Satan was our "Elder Brother", ever. But Colofornian says I'm thinking it, though. Well, I'm not. *sigh

No one knows exactly where on the pecking order Lucifer was before he rebelled. Don't know. Don't care.

So God told Moses that He made the sun, moon and stars. Of course he was only talking to Moses and not Joe so we can't really believe it but here is a question. Did God create all of the stars in this universe? Does that mean that God's Father has His own universe where He created all of those stars. So God's other two grand fathers would each have their own universe with their own stars right? By stars I mean all of the galaxies or are all of these gods sharing this one universe?

Why can't we believe it? If you're trying to understand God's creations you have to look at all that God has said, not just one thing.

It also depends on the level of understanding of the audience that the prophet was writing to. Moses' version of the story of the creation isn't going to discuss molecular biology, even though the Lord created all the laws of science.

We can take this point for all the doctrines. To fully understand it just from the writings, you have to have all the Lord has said on the subject.

By stars I mean all of the galaxies or are all of these gods sharing this one universe?

I don't speculate on these things. God hasn't revealed all the laws, goings, and comings in the eternities. But He has promised to make everything known to those that receive His glory. I trust in that.

So Mormons are content to imagine an infinite number of Gods but won't say if they are in this universe or multiple universes? Hmmmm.

Notice the mind reading. I've never heard anyone say Satan was our "Elder Brother", ever.

Lds "apostle" Russell Ballard, circa 2010:

From the article linked below:
"You remember Mr. (Mike) Huckabee (who was also vying to be the Republican candidate for president), who among other things said that Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil were brothers?" Ballard asked students. "Remember that? It went all over the media. "Well they are!" Ballard exclaimed to a laughing student body.
Here, we have an Lds general authority conceding that -- to quote him "Well they are!" in reference to the issue of whether "Jesus and the devil are brothers."

Now in case someone views that this information needs to be suppressed...not let it become aired out...or they think that we are overriding realities in our assessments of Mormonism, Elder Ballard concedes at this fireside chat adding:
"But they (the media and nonmembers) don't understand that, because they don't have the (LDS gospel) restoration. They don't understand the spiritual relationship that ... we are all sons and daughters of God, and that Lucifer was one of those and (that) he chose to use his agency in an unrighteous way."

Ballard speaks on Mormons in the media

I remember so many Mormons' reactions on and off FR...acting all offended. And yet, to paraphrase Ballard, who then came out and said, "Yup. What Huckabee said was 'so.' It's just that those non-restoration folks simply don't understand our belief system."

So?? Notice nowhere is the term "Elder Brother" like is used to describe Christ.

We never refer to Lucifer as "Elder Brother" like you claimed. You fail at mind reading.

I said many times that Lucifer is part of the human family and is our brother. So you run off and find a quote that proves me right... cool.

Then along comes Joseph Smith who gets the really true stuff.

A living prophet can give the correct context and expound on the doctrine to reveal more as God wills it.

You are relying on your own interpretations of ancient text and refuse to except that there might be more. Unfortunately you won't understand what this really means until you either leave this life or faced with the events just prior to the second coming.

Imagine the Lord saying the following:

"Know ye not that there are more nations than one? Know ye not that I, the Lord your God, have created all men, and that I remember those who are upon the isles of the sea; and that I rule in the heavens above and in the earth beneath; and I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of the earth?"

"Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another? Wherefore, I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two nations shall run together the testimony of the two nations shall run together also."

"Wherefore, because that ye have a Bible ye need not suppose that it contains all my words; neither need ye suppose that I have not caused more to be written."

"For I command all men, both in the east and in the west, and in the north, and in the south, and in the islands of the sea, that they shall write the words which I speak unto them;"

What part of that could not possibly be true?

We NEVER refer to Lucifer as "Elder Brother" like you claimed. You fail at mind reading.

Never? (I guess you just don't speak for all Mormons or Mormon general authorities like you think you do)

I expect a humbling acknowledgement here that you are wrong, or were simply mistaken:

1

“..That Lucifer, the son of the morning, is our elder brother and the brother of Jesus Christ.” (Lds "apostle" Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon doctrine pp.163-164)

2

Elder Trevor Christensen, who was serving as a Mormon missionary in the Florida Tallahassee Mission. Here's what "Elder" Christensen blogged:

"There was one thing needed, a Savior, an ultimate and eternal sacrifice. Lucifer, or Satan, his name means "Son of the Morning" meaning that he was a very choice spirit of our Heavenly Father, offered himself to be the sacrifice so that all will be saved no matter what, but he wanted all the glory to be his, and not our Father's. Christ then offered himself as the sacrifice and said the glory should go to our Father. Christ is our elder brother, Lucifer is our elder brother, we all are sons and daughters of God, so therefore, Satan and Christ are brothers.
Where'd all the good people go? (Sept. 28, 2009)

3

Lds "prophet" Spencer W. Kimball, in mentioning the Mormon jesus, cited this jesus as referencing Satan as "his brother" in an official Lds publication...so not sure why the cartwheels on your part to avoid such a reference:

Perhaps his brother, Lucifer, had heard him say when he was still but a lad of twelve: “Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?” (Luke 2:49).
Ensign, December, 1980: Jesus of Nazareth

Here's a Mormon writing online who concludes "The LDS gospel is very different than any other that has ever known to exist. Philosophically speaking it is the only form of Christianity that makes any sense." (So you know he's a faithful Mormon).

In that same July 11, 2012 post, he (Water Dog) wrote:

4) Premortal - Christ our elder brother, Satan also our elder brother.

Faith is the hope of things unseen that are true. How can you possibly claim to have faith in Christ, when you refuse to believe He has the power to speak to man?

and it is complete.

Do you have any evidence of the Lord stating this?

This is just pathetic. You spend all week crawling through every part of the internet trying to find someone at some point in history that has ever put the words "elder" and "brother" together when referring to Lucifer. LOL!

You found a couple blog posts by individuals.... and a couple written pieces that described his chronological position...

But no where is Lucifer given the same titles as Jesus. Can't find it in instructions manuals, or from a prophet of the Church. You even quote Spencer W. Kimball who doesn't say it at all. What, were you hoping to score points on association? LOL!

There have always been people like you Colofornian. And there always will be. We have been promised that your works are in vain. You nor any of your ilk will ever stop this work.

Let's be honest, if your message was powerful enough and if the Lord was really behind you, you wouldn't have to resort to these tactics would you?
