Kill the Ryan bill! Repeal the unconstitutional Obamacare or let it go bust!

Posted on 03/24/2017 1:22:04 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

A no vote on RYANcare/GOPcare is a vote FOR constitutional government.

Obamacare, RYANcare, RINOcare, GOPcare, Hillarycare, Trumpcare or ANY form of federal government mandated health care package is UNCONSTITUTIONAL! The constitution clearly reserves health care and health care insurance to the states and the PEOPLE!

The founders did not establish the federal government to be a charity or to "care for" the personal needs of the citizens. The founders never intended to create a welfare state! The constitution was intended to severely RESTRICT the powers of the federal government and to leave most governing powers to the states and the PEOPLE! The power to mandate or provide or control health care or health care insurance is not delegated to the federal government by the constitution, therefore it's reserved by the 10th amendment to the states and the people.

If they’e looking to blame someone, blame it on the founders. Blame it on the constitution.

The bill is wrong. Remember the tea party? For seven long years we’ve been demanding and voting for Republicans on a nationwide basis to repeal the unconstitutional big government socialist Obamacare. We do not want to replace it with a Republican brand of unconstitutionalism. We want it repealed, dead and gone, ripped out by the roots and the ground salted so it can never rise again.

Free markets or bust!

NO federal mandates or tinkering of any kind!

If the Republicans pass this POS, then unconstitutional federal government intrusion and mandates will be here forever (or until the rebellion anyway).

Passing this GOPcare bill sends the signal that government healthcare (some form of nationalized healthcare, socialism, single payer, etc) is perfectly fine by both major political parties and it’s just a matter of time before the democrats retake power and ram through universal single payer socialism.

Pass it and freedom is dead.

See this is where you slant towards cult of personality. This has NOTHING to do with Trump. This isn’t about HIM. It’s about our constitution, our principles and our ability to survive. And if our President supports it as you say then ANY conservative would say it is unconstitutional and DEAD wrong.

For those who are celebrating this “victory” please look up the term “pyrrhic victory”.

Oh please.

Is this non-vote against ObamaCare 2.0 the end of the debate?

Are you arguing that no on ever can propose a bill to remove the individual mandate from ObamaCare? Never ever?

This is what needs to be done. We all understand that every single aspect of the brown stain known as ObamaCare cannot be undone this week or next.

But take one bite at a time. Start with a bill to simply remove the individual mandate. If that fails, take on another aspect of ObamaCare like funding or coverage for Planned Parenthood. Get something repealed. Anything. Then get back to the mandates. Then a year or so from now - this steaming pant load will be gone. Or close to it. Piece by piece.

Today WAS a victory. We conservatives did not vote for a bill that would replace ObamaCare with ObamaCare.

Yes, the bill had some pluses. But the negatives were worse.

And worst of all? Asking a conservative to support an Unconstitutional bill.

No can do.

It's in the process of collapsing already.....Covering pre-existing conditions and covering every non-taxpaying illegal that makes it across the border pretty much assured a death spiral for obamacare unless ever increasing subsidies are provided to insurers and stiffer penalties for refuseniks are enacted

I will admit I don't understand the very complicated payment mechanisms of the ACA - but I believe you are wrong. Yes, insurance companies will drop out - but those that remain will work with the supportive State Governments and their exchanges to screw middle class buyers with higher rates. You mentioned "unless ever increasing subsidies" - and that is EXACTLY what will happen. I assure you - there is NO DEATH SPIRAL. Obamacare is perverse, expensive, and destructive, but it will continue by the power of the Federal Government.

Agree. But you should apply the name Trumpcare to it too. He did everything possible to twist arms to get it passed. A trip to Capital Hill, hosted reluctant congress critters at the White House, made numerous phone calls late into the night.

He wanted this just as bad as any RINO or Ryan.

We get a list of the 40, and primary every one of the rest.

Why is is so very hard for Congress Critters to understand what has been made perfectly clear by three out of four of the last elections. Americans are finally understanding that any program designed and implemented by government bureaucrats is destined to fail miserably.

“Just watched Trump talking about it. He’s begging democrats to get him out of this jam.”

“Begging”? Post whatever it is you saw where President Trump was begging the Democrats to help him.

They are GOPe big government globalists.

They’re not quite as repulsive as the Democrats, but they’re trying to be.

And the mandate can be dealt with in a separate bill.

Thank you.

I’ve been arguing this point till I’m blue in the face. But too many people here want to argue that RyanCare was our one and only choice. And we blew it. So now we’ll never have another chance to repeal the mandate, and so we’re stuck with ObamaCare forever.

Mighty short sighted people here.

I’m not sore at the Freedom Caucus for standing against this bill, I’m sore at the Freedom Caucus (all execpt one member) who voted for keeping Ryan as Speaker.

If they’d demonstrated some of their conservative courage back then an challenged him we would not be having this discussion today. Nor would we be having a lot more in weeks to come as long as Ryan stays in that position.

It’s just like the previous “repeal” votes which were nothing but a sham since they knew it would not happen. Fair-weather conservatives we don’t need.

Since hospitals are bound by law to treat emergencies & patients in labor, start putting an ICE desk right by the triage desk in certain cities. It would instantly ease the burdened healthcare system. Thanks to the progressives, we are made to feel as if we’re obliged to provide every need for illegals from cradle to grave without any work or assimilation in return. I’m tired of it.

__________________________________________________________

Damn straight.

ICE has already been camping out at local courthouse and rounding up illegals as they frequent the criminal court system on a regular basis.

And boy are the libs howling! I love to see them weep.

Good idea with ICE being at the ER’s.

I’m on Medicare but not as astute as most FReepers.

What, specifically, are the changes to Medicare that were brought about by Obamacare?

Thanks.

They may stop “enforcing” the mandate” but you will still owe it. The mandate is the law. Just because Obama didn’t enforce the immigration laws, it didn’t change the status of the illegal aliens. It only postponed their fate. Likewise, just because Trump has ordered the IRS to stop collecting, it doesn’t change the fact that the debt will remain on the books.

Here, here; repeal means repeal, not amend/change the existing un-Constitutional law. Any similar bill should be according to the obvious limits to DC powers in USConstitution:

Strictly enabling and allow free market health care with enhanced tax changes and health savings abilities. All health insurance companies to operate across state lines and allow other insurance companies to operate in the health care industry.

What I find missing in the current debate on RyanCare and the debate in 2009 on ObamaCare is a simple question.

Who are the people who actually wrote this legislation?

For certain we know our elected Representatives and Senators did not write any of the words. (Pelosi said they needed to pass it so the Congress Critters knew what was in it)

We also know for certain that healthcare consumers (aka ‘we the people’) did not write any of the words. (Consumers have seen their insurance costs double under ObamaCare)

So who wrote the words?

Did the Health Insurance Industry write RyanCare or ObamaCare?

Or was it the AMA, pharma, hospitals, trial lawyers, government bureaucrats?
