Police in Central California say two family dogs killed a 3-day-old baby after her mother left her on the couch and walked away for a few seconds...
The girl’s mother had left the door open because it was hot and she thought the dogs were tied up in the back yard.
The baby died at a hospital shortly after the attack.
the two male dogs, which are believed to be a mix of shar-pei and pit bull are owned by the woman’s brother.

Another innocent dies. What sort of maternal instinct is OK with living with a killer breed? Might as well have live hand grenades scattered around the property...

How the dogs are raised may have a lot to do with it. Being stereotypically expected to be mean, they are treated by some folks in an abusive way, to encourage them to be mean. A comparison of them with other dogs of similar size and strength and “upbringing” would be necessary to fairly evaluate the risk.
Thug dogs. Who knows what will set them off. If only they were treated better, given more love and attention, welcomed with open arms, not - *gasp* - discriminated against..

Well, probably more people deliberately raise pits to be mean, than we might think. Some people think it looks tough to have a mean dog.

Yes, and they also say that their dog can "sense" that you are a bad person, so that's why their little pooch attacked you etc.

I saw a pit bull at Petco the other day paid for his stuff with an ebt card and got in a escalade and drove away

Pitbull owners buy these dogs because they want to look tough. Technically, people aren’t talking about the Sharpei in the dogs either but Sharpeis are bred to be fighting dogs.
I have found that more then 90% of the time people who even say “It’s not the breed, it’s the owner” and “My pit/bully/staffy/whateverdoesn’tmakethedogsoundlikeapsycho is the nicest dog there is” They all own the pitbull because they have something to prove.

Why even have a dog if you have to leave it tied up? Fortunately they didn't get out and kill other peoples kids.
Our greyhound would do that. She loved the UPS delivery van because it had no doors to keep her out.
That's what our friends told us when they adopted a pit bull pup and lovingly raised it. All was fine for a year or two until the dog inexplicably attacked the wife as she was sitting on the couch. The husband couldn't get the dog off and ended up shooting it while its jaws were clamped on the wife's arm.
My vet of twenty five years, believes that breeding pit bulls should be banned and the breed made extinct. He says the medical and genetic studies are conclusive.
I’d personally like to shoot any pitbull hater if they ever tried to mess with ANY dog I know regarding bans or harassment of owners. Repeatedly. In a manner so that death was slow.
Anyone too stupid to know that it is 100 percent how the dog is raised is de facto a POS human.
