A woman in Scranton, Pennsylvania, is claiming her family dog was mauled to death by another dog inside a PetSmart grooming salon. Betty Miller told WNEP she dropped off her 12-year-old pet, a Bichon named Brewster, at the pet store chain's Dickson City location for an appointment on Wednesday. She got a call later that day saying Brewster was taken to the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center when another dog allegedly attacked him in the store. Police in Central California say two family dogs killed a 3-day-old baby after her mother left her on the couch and walked away for a few seconds... The girl’s mother had left the door open because it was hot and she thought the dogs were tied up in the back yard. The baby died at a hospital shortly after the attack. the two male dogs, which are believed to be a mix of shar-pei and pit bull are owned by the woman’s brother.

Cops shot and killed a pit bull after it mauled a smaller dog to death in upper Manhattan Wednesday. Jada, a Shih Tzu, was being walked at Hillside Avenue and Sickles Street in Inwood at 7 p.m. when the bigger dog attacked. Rafael Alvarez, 40, who had been caring for Jada for a friend, suffered a lacerated hand trying to save her. Two cops rushed to help, but when they couldn’t stop the attack, one shot the pit bull twice. The pit bull’s owner wasn’t charged because he was trying to put a leash on the dog at the time.

An Indiana man was mauled to death by his pet pit bull on Christmas Day, Portage police say. Edward L. Cahill, 40, was discovered on the living room floor by his girlfriend when she returned from visiting relatives for the holiday. Cahill was unresponsive, NBC Chicago reports. Authorities were called to a home in the 5500 block of Tulip Avenue at about 8:14 p.m. Cahill was found dead on the floor covered in blood and with multiple lacerations on his face and arms, the Portage police report.
