Breaking: Ted Cruz makes outrageous statement on voterless election win in Wyoming

Ted Cruz on Wyoming win: "This is how elections are won in America."

Once again, voters are not represented in the process. Instead, "votes" for the nominee are gained by backroom politics. Another corrupt process by the GOP establishment.

From Fox News:

Ted Cruz on Saturday won all 14 delegates in the Wyoming GOP convention -- a relatively small number but enough for the Texas senator to declare victory and keep GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump from securing the nomination.

“We are likely to have a battle in Cleveland to decide who is the nominee,” Cruz told party members before they picked the delegates. “If you don’t want to see Donald Trump as the nominee, … then I ask you to please vote for the men and women on this slate.”

The Wyoming process mirrored that of Colorado, which was engulfed by political controversy after hosting a similar convention last week.

I think your information is wrong. That GOP website says that any registered Republican can vote at their caucus for delegates. But we all know that Cruz STOLE those delegates. /s (At one point I could post on FR without the /S. Nowadays.....)

I have no dog in the fight between Trump and Cruz. To me, EITHER would be a world better than Hitlery.

On this issue, Cruz seems to be right. The notion of Trump NOT having a strong “ground game” has been part of the commentariat since Iowa. IF Trump had been paying attention (not him personally, but his campaign people), he would’ve noted the change when it was announced back in August and started working the problem. He certainly has the coin to be able to handle the situation.

Just mho.

cruz was running for office before he got his senate seat. He could not wait to finish his first term and now saw his campaign fail and the voters do not want him.
he then got cozy with the establishment for their help and now pays off delegates.

To think there I not one cruz voter on here who will defend that, instead they repeat the establishment talking points to you.

I guess when some on here said they hated the establishment they were lying like their guy cruz.

“Let me encourage other members of the establishment: Keep supporting Donald Trump because every time you do it, what it is doing is telling conservatives all over the country is where you stand and who stands with you”.

Rules changes whittled the pesky voters down quite well.
2,114 committeemen chose delegates in 2012.

903 committeemen chose delegates in 2016

They reduced the pesky voters by another 55%

Way to go Wyoming GOPe.! a whopping .03% voted.

The Wyoming is like Colorado. Republicans with lots of time and $ to follow each step of the lengthy process are more likely to be state party activists than general voters. This impacts turnout and eventually the outcome of the delegate selection process. This grants the state party much more control over the process.

When only approved committee members vote for the delegates, the party is ensures their choice as opposed to the popular vote.

Wyoming excluded voters: The last polling (summer) in had Jeb Bush leading. Bush-Cheney-> Wyoming! = Pre-slated delegates

2012 Primary Election results

Mitt Romney.........822.......38.99%.... 11

Rick Santorum......679.......31.93%...... 8

Ron Paul...............439.......20.83%...... 6

Newt Gingrich.......165.........7.83%...... 2

2016 Wyoming Caucus

Cruz votes-—————644...... 66.3%

Rubio votes—————189....... 19.5%

Trump votes—————70.......... 7.2%

2016 -—Dumped another 1000 plus selectors this election. 275,573 Registered republican voters

903 Committeeman choose the delegates. That’s .03 % of the eligible voters.

I am kind of amused that how Trump casts his incompetence and lack of preparation and organization as cheating by the other side.

It reminds me of a sports team that loses to the underdog because they get out hustled, then cries.

The rules have been the rules for a long time. Trump could have hustled, but his New York arrogance caused him to overlook the flyover states.

The delegates are not mysterious back room guys. They are people who have been involved at the local level for years, knocked on doors and stuffed envelopes. Many, many Freepers are delegates.

It’s just a pathetic temper tantrum and not remotely presidential.

Cruz got whipped a bunch. You don’t see him crying like the little pansy Trump is. He congratulates Trump on a job well done, dusts himself off, and grinds on.

Beg your pardon, Nevada had a caucus yes. However, Nevada voters voted in the caucus. We voted for a candidate, not a delegate. That candidate’s delegates were then chosen from that candidate’s supporters.

More than 75,000 people turned out to vote. Trump won more votes here 34,000 than the total number of people who voted in the 2012 caucus.

Nevada was not voterless.

Trump is being true to his populist model.

If honestly followed through on, this will definitely get us a more conservative result than our current rulership. And one that is far more likely to survive.

Will it be pluperfect ideal? Shoot, no. But we shouldn’t be trying to teach a crippled dog how to dance before we get it healthy again.

3 state , just 3 states cruz has won outside his own state where the people have voted on whon they want. Yes WHO THEY WANT.

What a novel concept that is, voters voting .

I’m somewhat surprised at the number of folks on FR who apparently didn’t understand some of the intricacies-and I’m being kind to the ignorant calling them that-of our many states nominating situations.

Silly me. I thought that the general practice would be to let the rank-and-file members of the party vote on their Presidential preference, and then allocate the delegates according to some kind of algorithm that at least approximates fairness.

Indeed, that's the way it happens in most states. But there are other states where the setup is a little different. In those states, the skids have been greased to benefit the designated insider candidate, and to help keep uppity outsiders like Rand Paul or Donald Trump at bay.

In these states (let's call them "party machine" states) the whole system was intended to benefit Jeb Bush, the GOPe's designated darling, and to disadvantage "outsiders" like Ted Cruz and Donald Trump.

Of course with Ted Cruz jumping into bed with the GOPe, once their preferred candidate got squashed like an insect, then suddenly Ted Cruz became the Establishment darling, because #NeverTrump, of course (the party elite sabotaging their party's own frontrunner, as selected by the voters).

Thus, Ted Cruz is benefiting from a system that was actually put in place to thwart his ilk, but, in desperation, the GOPe had to latch on to somebody to serve their "NeverTrump" mission.

Cruz's success in these crooked processes has nothing whatsoever to do with a superior "ground game" or anything of the sort. He's simply the only alternative to Donald Trump for the party apparatchiks.

Cruz supporters can bleat all they want about the legality and propriety of the process, but the entire GOP electorate knows what's up.

Fair or not, Ted Cruz=GOPe now, so given the nonstop demonization and character assassination that Donald Trump has been subjected to by the unholy alliance between the Left/Media/GOPe/"me too" Cruz campaign, I'm really crying myself a river about all the "unfair" optics which Cruz is experiencing.

It has literally doomed his campaign, and the polls, both national and state, are now reflecting that.

Ted Cruz is not a viable general election candidate.

Heck, Ted Cruz is now trailing a distant third to even John Kasich throughout most of the Northeast. That is not a campaign with momentum: it's a campaign with the GOPe albatross around its neck.

And before anyone derides Ted Cruz's crappy polling in the Northeast because they're so "liberal", I need only remind them that Cruz did equally poorly in the South as well, including in closed primary states like my native Florida.

It could have been different: Ted Cruz could have honored his outsider status by staying an outsider. But he decided to sell his soul for expediency in the hope that somehow his illegitimate gains would be enough to tip the scales in his favor.

Well, the scales have been tipped, but in the opposite direction to what Ted Cruz had hoped. He's a truly Machiavellian character in a season when that's not such a good idea. How you win does matter sometimes.

Ted Cruz has lost. He will have been mathematically eliminated after the next Tuesday or two. His only hope was to get the nomination at a contested GOP convention, which would irreparably splinter the party, and guarantee a GOP defeat in November.

Simply put, that's not going to happen. Not even the crooked GOPe is that stupid.

Vote Trump

Trump knew the rules. He’s too lazy and disorganized to run a campaign.

He’s a creature of Fox News and New York media.

Places like Wyoming are just something to fly over.

Instead of immature attacks why not address the fact what was said and it was and has been reported by other news outlets, one link on this thread to NBC.

This post of a blog is about the WYOMING delegate election.
Cruz actually cared enough to show up in the State and ask the delegate election committee for their votes.
Trump did not care enough for their votes to even show up in the State, or to ask for their votes. His focus is on winning New York. He wants 50% there. He figures that is more valuable to him. He is correct. But the fact is, Cruz cared more for Wyoming s delegates than Trump did.

Cruz won’t be able to beat the Dems this way in the general. They are going to use this against him. He’ll be slaughtered. But that’s ok with Cruz Crew if it prevents Trump for being the nominee.

Sickening.

you are aware that the voters voted in that election on who they want, yes voters voting for WHO THEY WANT.

WOW what a novel concept hey, they did not vote for delegates to see them get “influenced”

3 states outside of TX where the voters have voted for cruz and you want to tell me he would win my state of FL and VA which are must wins.

Please!

The vast majority of voters don’t want him

Yes very disgusting to win an election the way it’s been done for hundreds of years! How dare he play by the rules and not cry over it.

Like when Trump won 100% of the delegates in Florida but got less than 50% of the vote! That is way worse than the elections in Wyoming where you have WORK for your votes and they are true representation of the delegates. Not some BS like having 60% of the people vote for someone else and get 0 delegates. When will Trump be giving back those delegates he stole by using the rigged GOP rules?

We could say why does Cruz care so little for NY, to put the shoe on the other foot too...

Both could be said not to pour excessive efforts into fighting foregone conclusions.

However the process is getting publicity now. Since when did primary process grab headlines? It’s vastly overdue.
