Ted Cruz is right (about debate)

We all know Ted Cruz is right, as in politically right of center, and I mean really right.

But he's also right about his latest proposal leading up to Monday's voting in Iowa.

The Texas senator says he wants to debate Donald Trump one-on-one, and he means right now.

Now that would be worth paying for, as in pay-per-view. Or, perhaps to lure The Donald in, find a sponsor willing to donate all proceeds to wounded veterans' groups since that's what Trump said Fox should do with money it would make off a scheduled Thursday night debate that he, Trump, now says he intends to skip.

Cruz is right two ways. First, he and Trump appear to be the only game in town in the Hawkeye State. Current averages of multiple polls maintained by Real Clear Politics show Trump leading with 33 percent, Cruz second with 27 percent and nobody else in the 11-person field anywhere close.

(For Rick Santorum fans who remember Rick won Iowa last time around, the former Pennsylvania senator's current average is one percent, but he polled at zero in the latest Iowa Quinnipiac poll.)

So a Cruz-Trump-only debate would really give Iowa voters a clear sense of what they're investing in.

But Cruz is also right in suggesting they debate without moderators. I'd add they should do so without a live audience.

That way there'd be a better chance to see who actually knows anything rather than just seeing who can rile a crowd.

In a debate between an ideologue and an entertainer its no fair to take away the audience.

I know, but other candidates called Trump campaign and want to skip debate and debate with Trump also. Cruz was only one to say it in public. Trump will ignore Cruz. He needs none of these candidates to win. Trump is in a holding pattern.

Neither does the circus. But I wouldn't elect the head clown for president.

No worries...Glenn Beck isn't running this time, but there are lots of other geeks for you to choose from.

Tune in Fox on Thursday to see them line up and perform...

Any candidate who debates another, publicly, outside of the RNC-sanctioned debates,
is barred from the rest of the RNC debate schedule.

*******************

They have had what six debates and six more scheduled. At some point enough is enough.
A one on one or maybe top three for one hour would be more beneficial, imo.

Then why would Trump not do it then. If Trump can annihilate Cruz in a 1 on 1 debate, what would he have to loose.

“Trump will run away like a scared little girl.”
You really believe other people’s BS take on it?... or is it just crazy ‘wishful thinking’ on your part?

I would not want to see the result of someone telling Trump he is a scared little girl face to face.

Trump smelled out the traps set by the GOPe through the open borders FOX News. Megan Kelley the ankle attack dog was known. The screwy snarky comment from Fox was to stir up Trump. Google doing instant “Fact Checking” during the debate was directly going to counter anything Trump said and probably Cruz while not calling out the key participants supported by the GOPe. Anyone care to bet the questions are set up to get the desired results by Google and Fox? The last trap were the “guess” questioners added at the last minute especially the Muslim activist.

Curious to know how they are rewriting the questions as we discuss Trump’s brilliant move.to avoid the trap.

I think Trump and Cruz are strong debaters with completely different styles that would make great watching. Unlike the dem debate farces, this would be a serious exchange of ideas.

Absolutely correct! Trump could be a bigger danger to the Republic than the communists that are in there now! His arrogance and egotism are exactly what’s wrong with American culture. I taught US Gov’t for 10 years and one of the chief jobs of POTUS is to be a moral example for the next generation. Where is America going when decent men(and women) like Santorum, Huckabee, Rubio,Fiorini, and Cruz cannot get traction?

At this point it's clear that the race is between Trump and Cruz. The voters would be better served if they had a chance to measure the two against each other without the annoying chattering of the Carsons and the Fiorinos and the Bushes and the Pauls. So have the one-on-one and let the two be banned from the kid's table.

Yes, enough with the rationalizations. A one-on-one debate between Cruz and Trump would be a good thing.

And both candidates could easily apply pressure on the RNC to sanction the debate.

Ted’s a great debater. But we’re not selecting a head debater here. He has no experience in his background to be president.

Not to mention the fact that he's an insufferable a-hole. He's easily the most unlikable pol I've ever seen.
